why is flame 8:00 not available for Windows?
@johanneshorzer70112 ай бұрын
the good thing is that the real high end products like nuke fusion and flame are all relatively similar in structure. Many Nodes have the same name and most function the same. Best is to learn one of these three really good. then switching isn't the worst thing in the world. I chose fusion because its free if you have a da Vinci resolve studio license and it has better performance on consumer workstations.

Blender and Maya for example gel well together, as does Nuke and Blender etc's. If you ever want a real job in the VFX or 3D animation industry you learn Nuke. End of the story. Learning anything else is just a waste of your time, since even if you master your compositing software of choice, no studios will hire you or you'll end up using Nuke anyway. If you want motion graphics job you learn After Effects. Same as Nuke in VFX: you can do motion graphics with many other software sometimes even more capable than AE, but studios that have already invested into AE will not replace their tools just for your needs. And they invest in AE since most motion graphics artist learn AE... closed circle. If you just wanna play around with hobby projects, it's Blender if full 3D or Natron if 2D footage involved. Natron has a Nuke-like user interface so if you look for a free alternative to learn the basics of compositing then it could be a good start since it is easy to switch to Nuke if you take things seriously later. (And Nuke is ridiculously expensive while it's learning edition is too limited.)
@AbsurdScandal Жыл бұрын
I get that Natron is fo 2D and 2.5D compisiting, but is it really just the basics of compositing, or does it also have some moderately advanced and useful capabilities as a 2D compositor?

@darkvador64323 жыл бұрын
Hey, A few thoughts as a Fusion and Mocha Pro user (and Resolve btw) for matte painting, 3d set extensions, camera projections etc... 1/ By far the 1st feeling : can't believe I still can read AE in any of these kind of serious lists... AE is mainstream garbage maintained by Adobe to entertain their customers. Anybody knows it doesn't play in the same league as Maya, Fusion or Nuke, and btw anybody knows that ANY layer based software can't compete with node-based ones... The main and only asset of AE is there is a huge community... because beginners first start downloading AE as the did for PS, but only the second one is serious in the end ;) 2/ Advice for beginners : if you really want to start/study/evolve, forget about AE and dl DaVinci Resolve which includes a Fusion tab. Buy studio versions only if you'd like to, no subscription, work and learn without limiting constraints (up to UHD)... And please, forget about AE even if the little bro of your neighbour stated he's starting a new blockbuster on it... or stay stuck on it for life, with opening and opening and opening again a composition in a composition in another one in a "I don't remember what down floor" my layer is hahahahaha ;) 3/ Personal opinions, no regular rule : a/ where's Maya ? b/ Fusion could deserve better in many cases
@PeterKoperdan3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dark, what about 2D motion graphics/design? You know like titles, shapes, lines, curves, graphs etc.. Wouldn't you say that AE is best for that kind of use, especially for designers coming from Illustrator? Cheers.

@elskywalker1354 жыл бұрын
Mainly for Rotoscoping and tracking
@mikeben95874 жыл бұрын
mocha pro is a planar tracker. It cames as standalone or plugin for ae or even as osx for fusion or Nuke. Its very intuitive in use and faster and accurater than the build in tracker in ae for example. But its only usable for planar tracking as the name say. 3d tracking is not possible with that. So if you want to place a video on a tv or a image on a wall, then mocha is your tool. If you want to track a scene with a camera wich is moving around in a scene and then want to place a robot or what ever, then you need a 3d tracker.

AE is layer-based, which limits it capabilities, but is easier to use. While Nuke is node-based, which makes it more powerful, but harder to learn.
@JJ_Lawson_VFX4 жыл бұрын
After Effects can definitely be used to create high-quality composites without a doubt, but it certainly limits the ease-of-use of certain things that node based compositors such as Nuke have. To achieve the best results in After Effects, fully understanding precompositions is a must. In AE there is actually a project flowchart that helps illustrate how your comps stack together, somewhat like a node graph of sorts, for a better visual if it's hard to comprehend. Complex dynamic compositing is definitely achievable without any third-party plugins for the software. It just takes more time and understanding of how it all works. If only Nuke were a truly affordable alternative to Adobe... someday, maybe.... :)
