Hello girls! I've been using the menstrual cup for atleast 4 years now and I'm excited to share some info about it: 1. First time attempting to use it can be quite scary but you just need to find the right way that suits you best and I'm happy to share 'techniques' as I've helped few female friends with this before even over video calls. So yeah just reach out if you need support when you finally have your cup but feel panicky about it! 2. If you have heavy flow on the first few days like myself, I will use the cup and small panty liners just in case there's abit of leakage. 3. The pros of using the cup by far surpasses all the other conventional products for me, however the ONE con I would say for you guys is that, it's not easy to wash it when you're not in the comfort of your own home because you need hot water and it's nice to unload the cup in the shower, clean it right there and put it back in again. It can be done in public toilets but it's just not nice and can be a bloody crime scene when you're on a heavy flow. That's all for now. Thank you for speaking up about this for I think it's really time that people from SEA increase their awareness when it comes to how the natural menstrual cycle is viewed because it's very interconnected with how we women subconsciously view ourselves, other women, how we have to hide this big part of us from men, how most men also feel shame and shame us for it. The period is representation of our creative life force energy which as you've mentioned, one of the biggest creation that comes out of it is human life. Thus learning more and embracing it will actually bring us a step closer to ending the gender war game and instead empowerment to both men and women. Lol, got a little too passionate there. Ok have a good day girls! 💙

Menstrual cups do take about my experience(2 cycles) to get used to and there are a lot of different sorts/brands available now in sg- short/long, medium/large, hardness level..Its much more comfortable and i find that it helps especially at night when you're tossing around and thats usually when you'll stain EVERYTHING with a pad. Plus, no more strong iron smell(even when you take out and pour because it isn't oxidised yet), and you can still wear your usual pants/skirts(no more period pants!), and no more pad rash(yeah its a thing)! Its a higher cost upfront but lets be honest, the good pads ain't cheap either. I've strongly advocate for menstrual cups because its bloody awesome!

As a guy if I see my spouse or wife in pain, of course I'd do my job, I wouldn't say do a special pack cos I won't follow through in the long term. But say make a hot water bottle, make coffee or tea, get some snacks, these are things I'd do anyway until you menopause.

yooooo menstrual cups are lifechanging. takes a few cycles to get used to it, but super comfortable, low waste & saves money in the long run! you can wear them for up to 12 hours so i empty and clean it twice a day when i shower. theres lots of videos of people talking about their menstrual cup experience too, which are very helpful! just make sure you buy a legit one and not some $2 one from shopee :-)

Menstrual cups worked really well for me! Been trying them for the last 4 months and although there is a bit of a learning curve at the start, it's not too daunting even for me who didn't really use tampons before. There is not much discomfort from using it and you can use it longer than a normal tampon as there haven't been cases of toxic shock syndrome from users (although limited research has been done so it still shouldn't be used for like the whole day to be cautious). Would say for heavy flow days i needed to empty it (a regular sized one) every 4 hours but for other days it can go for much longer. I still wear a washable cotton liner on heavy days for that reason. Plus if you take good care of them, it can last you more than a year or even two which is great for saving money and the environment. I wouldn't suggest getting any cheap or dodgy ones though because you would need to place the cup in hot water when you first get it and between cycles to kill off any bacteria so the cheap ones might get damaged in the process. Got mine from theperiodco which carries quite a few good brands of cups and they have a blog with tips that helped me navigate this whole menstrual cup journey so it would be good to check them out? Anyway, good on you guys for talking about periods on youtube! I feel like we should get over it being such a taboo topic since there is honestly nothing disgusting about it and girls should be supporting each other more like you said.

Give freedom cups a try. It will change your life. It makes your period shorter, you don't feel anything (super comfortable). Try the small one when you first starting out, and then use a liner just in case of leaks. Empty and rinse in the shower. After a few cycles you will get used to it and trust me you will never go back to pads. I use them now with cloth liners - so no disposables and super comfortable.

Hello Nina! I have recently started to use the menstrual cup too. At first I was quite against the idea as I just couldn’t imagine sticking a cup up there. I did my research online and the prices for menstrual cups can be on the pricey side although it’s still cheaper in the long run comparing to pads/tampons. I purchased mine online (Satisfyer Feel Secure Menstrual Cup) as I feel like I just wanted to try it out and the price is on the low side ($19.65) for 2 cups, one holds 20ml and another one holds 15ml of blood. I have recently tried it out and surprisingly, the feeling is amazing! I feel nothing at all after inserting it inside (took quite awhile to figure how to insert). I feel like it might take some time to get used to as during heavy flow, you will need to empty the cup while you’re outside in the public toilets. (Use the handicap toilet so you can rinse your cup before inserting in again). I’ll continue to try it for the next few cycles and see where it takes me. You should hop on the bandwagon too! 🤪 Good luck!

I think the menstrual cup is amazing! Its not difficult to put it in after you are used to it and it feels like a tampon (?) as in you dont rlly feel it at all! And it lasts me from morning till evening when im having heavy flow. But i think 1 downside is i always feel v constipated and when i try to go w the menstrual cup inside! So i usually try to go when the cup is not inside

Hi TTS. Your story reminds me during my time working as a Restaurant Mgr in one of FnB outlet (shall not name). Every end of the month we are required to do stock count for all food product, dry good, packaging basically all that we used for the operations. So during the stock count day being the Restaurant Manager I have to be around for the stock check together with my female Asst Manager. Of cos we have few staffs helping us to run with the operations as well. Here the story goes. Everytime during the stock count day she will call or text saying that she not well and need to see a doctor. And the 2nd call from her to inform that she have seen the doctor and was given 5 days MC and I told her to take care and have a good rest. 1st, 2nd and 3rd month I excuse her and did all the stock counting by myself. Come 4th month honestly I started to get pissed off as she again submitted 5 days MC and everytime during the stock count day. Initially I tot that she just wanted to escape and avoid from doing stock counting or she just don't like to do those things. And during the month end we have so many reports to be submitted to HQ and I always had to do it all by myself. I told myself that I will have a good words with her when she is back from her 5 days MC (Pissed). As usual everytime she back from her MC she will look quite pale. Having to 'tahan' with her for 4 months I told myself that her pale look must be from her make up powder that she put on. When she came back to work I pull her aside to have a good talk to her. During the talking with her she did not tell me that she had menstruation problem. All she say was just sorry. After I'm done talking with my Asst Manager, one auntie that work with us in the restaurant came and talk to me. The auntie told me that me Asst Manager took MC was because she had a super bad stomach cramps whenever she had her menses. She can hardly walk and she have to lie down most of the time. Everytime when she had her menses she must see doctor and the doctor will usually give her 5 to 7 days MC for her to rest. My Asst Manager was actually shy and don't know how to open up to talk to me. Knowing that from the auntie, I started to read up more abt menstruation and ask around and get some info from my mum and my sisters. And due to this problem I now know how to calculate menstrual cycle. From the 5th month onwards till 2 years I work with my Female Asst Manager I know when she will take her MC. This makes me so much easier whenever I plan the schedule because I always got the calculation right :) since then I never ask her anymore about her MC. After I got posted out from the Restaurant to take up other roles, sadly she tendered her resignation as she said the incoming Restaurant Manager is not as understanding as I am
@sgmei
@sgmei 4 жыл бұрын
Wow.. kudos to you bro.. at least after you knew what was going on, you even go read up about it and managed to work with her well on your schedule. I can understand why she didn't want to be honest and talk about it because a lot of people don't understand it and immediately jump to "where got so pain? everyone else ok leh? why only you?" because I am also the same as her. I think even if I explain, people refuse to understand. I'm sad that the next incoming manager was not as understanding as you :( I hope she found a job with colleagues that can understand her.
@normansamat5780
@normansamat5780 4 жыл бұрын
@@sgmei I really do understand why she didn't want to speak up. At that time she still in her early 20s if I'm not wrong around 21 or 22 years old and I'm in my late 20s. I never ask her anything since then as I respect her privacy. Probably that makes her comfortable working with me for 2 yrs in the same Restaurant. Sadly she tender her resignation on the second month after another manager took over. But I really must thanked her bcos of her I now know how to count the cycle :)

I just tried using period panties (from the brand knix, but I bought knix teen cos its cheaper haha) and it works really well. The one I got was the Super 'oh-no' proof series (don't get the medium absorbent one it isn't as great). Wore it for the whole day, slept with it overnight, and there's no leakage, no wetness (the type of wetness that you get when you wear pads for a long time. None of it happened). Odor control was really good. At the end of the day I just rinse out the panty and throw in the washer (or if you're not comfortable with it, just handwash and line dry). Since its reusable it is good for the environment.

Menstrual cup!!! It can last 10-15 years. I have influenced a whole bunch of people around me to use it and they all give me the same feedback. We cannot imagine living without it. You never have to feel like u r on ur period other than pain, you save Soooo much money, it helps the environment immensely too. Especially for women who are active in sports or shooting like yall, it helps you forget that you are even on it :) highly recommend checking out freedomcup, they are started by a local family and has a very good cause behind it :)

menstrual cup convert of over a year. used to use tampons so i have the experience of putting something in, but the trick is to ensure the cups don't leak. i also have one with a valve so you can empty the cup without removing - great for public toilets. pros: my period is shorter, less cramps, dont have to think about it while i'm out and about and great for the environment (can last years). cons: if you insert it wrongly it could leak and you might feel the stem which might be irritating/itchy. i was gonna say sorry for tmi, but actually i'm not :) P.S. i'm also the "dealer" with a pouch in my bag specially for pads/tampons so it won't fly out when i try to pay for something :)

To be honest, i really enjoy listening to your talks. As a guy myself, i have never think of period as something disgusting or "pantang". I actually help my gf to wash her panties, make ginger and whatever to comfort her.

I have major cramps but I found applying Lavender essential oil on the area of the womb helps (I use youngliving.com ‘s essential oils). And pslove’s menstruheat pad is a lifesaver! #supportlocal

it runs in my family that we dont get cramps during our periods HOWEVER i do get really bad mood swings and my boobs hurt a lot and back in secondary school, (i was in a girls school) i would hide under the table and massage them if they hurt but now that i graduated and hand around the male species all the time i just suck it up or if im wearing a hoodie i would pull my arms in and do it without them seeing

I’m so lucky I dun have horrible cramps. I had period when I was 14. I think until I was 18 or smth, I didn’t really have any cramp. But now... I got like slight cramps every so often lorh. Not every month lah at least

LMAO I'm so late to the party but I have so many period horror stories: - Countless nights of washing my underwear and bedsheets at 3am in the morning - The first time I had my period (I didn't pay attention to sex ed and have no recollection of my mom telling me about it), I peed and saw blood in the toilet bowl (TB). I was so scared as I thought I had bladder cancer so I spent a good 30 minutes sitting on the TB thinking of how to break the cancer news to my mom HAHA
