Many of his friends passed away, including his best friend, Chester, and yet he managed to come through and support the LP community like a father. One More Light was a song written by Mike for a friend who died. When Chester sang the song after Chris died, it gave the song a whole lot more meaning for him. Now that Mike is singing this song after Chester died, it gave him a whole new set of emotions to fuel the song and made the lyrics more meaningful for him since he wasn't only singing the song for the friend he dedicated the song for but also for another friend he lost. I noticed at the end he refrained from mentioning Chester's name and instead said "his name." But Mike, you are so strong for singing this and we got your back always. Thank you so much. #MakeChesterProud

You know, what you mentioned at the end of your post is something I wondered about Post Traumatic: No where on the album, in the CD pamphlet or in the special edition art book is Chester's name written or mentioned yet we know who each song is about. It’s a very powerful jester, losing a loved one, having such strong sadness and other emotions but never mentioning their name.
@valenzhorn5 жыл бұрын
@@ejicon3099 It's merely a speculation but I think one of his reasons is because of the accusations that he's using Chester's name and death to earn money. So maybe he opted to not use his name instead to disprove allegations. Or maybe it just hurts too much and the wounds are raw
@franklinclinton46905 жыл бұрын

bro its crazy how it still hurts so much to listen to the live stuff 3 years down the road. when he died, all the sudden all of his lyrics just made so much more sense in his personal context. you realize then, how much pain he was in constantly and just somehow always turned that into fuel for the fans. linkin park was like an extension of our collective families for so many years bc so many of us grew up defined by their music. the first album i ever bought with my own money at 12 years old was hybrid theory. chester helped all of us figure out how to navigate our lives through teenage angst and family problems and abuse for some and gave an outlet for all the negativity we would encounter in growing up. then for that light that was present in all of our collective darkness to just extinguish in an instant.. it sucked then and it still sucks 3 years down the road.

mike was, and still is, a real friend. i grew up with linkin park and have always had huge respect towards the whole band, but man my respect for mike keeps growing and growing. he is keeping his best friend's legacy alive, like he promised. he's never used him, his name or his death in a bad way. mike's lost so many people in the span of a few years and the way he's carried himself is inspiring. he's so strong.

And now that mike sang it again makes it almost impossible....but you definitely feel hear and see his pain....it breaks my heart every single time in a million pieces but its also makes me feel better. And that mike overcame his "fear" he's truly a strong man. Stronger than he think he is. I admire his strength to keep going. He's our guiding light through our darkest times. Im thankful for what he did for us. And if he is at the bottom we're there for him as a family! Im glad to be a part of this journey. I hope you all are well. God bless us everyone and Chester....
