Hope the original recorders of some of the videos don't mind. I mashed up a lot of fan videos together to try and capture the beautiful moment that Mike Shinoda played One More Light in London. It was a truly moving moment.

"Thank you for saying his name" There are very few people that I respect more than Mike. The last years he's been through hell. Many of his friends passed away, including his best friend, Chester, and yet he managed to come through and support the LP community like a father. He still remains composed and manages to spread a positive message. That's what makes him a great human being. That's what makes him a hero

@@khalidifran434 it's ok to let it go, as the song "Heavy". They were a family and they have to start somewhere. People are curious, best to answer openly than to speculate. I hope we all can get past this pain of missing CB. I understand where you are coming from sir...I wish you peace. Chester could not quite find it.

@@doreengordon1475 I'm not coming from the trauma of losing this beautiful soul. It's just that I want everyone to know the truth about Chris and Chester. They wanted to save the children from sinster hands. They're the real life heroes. Don't live in the world of fools which is created by the western medias. If you want Chester to be in peace, do what he wanted to do. Justify his gestures. Depression wasn't the reason brother. May the Almighty help you to reach the truth so as everyone of this LP Fam❤

Mike once said that he can scream One Step Closer chorus parts, in a yt live. I don't exactly remember what video was that, but it's a recent one. Please look it up. Btw, he has a vocal range between F2 and E5, has great breathe control, great vocal control and tone, and several kinds of talents and skills. Truly a one-man band, he is.

One More Light was a song written by Mike for a friend who died. When Chester sang the song after Chris died, it gave the song a whole lot more meaning for him. Now that Mike is singing this song after Chester died, it gave him a whole new set of emotions to fuel the song and made the lyrics more meaningful for him since he wasn't only singing the song for the friend he dedicated the song for but also for another friend he lost. I noticed at the end he refrained from mentioning Chester's name and instead said "his name." But Mike, you are so strong for singing this and we got your back always. Thank you so much. #MakeChesterProud

You know, what you mentioned at the end of your post is something I wondered about Post Traumatic: No where on the album, in the CD pamphlet or in the special edition art book is Chester's name written or mentioned yet we know who each song is about. It’s a very powerful jester, losing a loved one, having such strong sadness and other emotions but never mentioning their name.
@valenzhorn
@valenzhorn 5 жыл бұрын
@@ejicon3099 It's merely a speculation but I think one of his reasons is because of the accusations that he's using Chester's name and death to earn money. So maybe he opted to not use his name instead to disprove allegations. Or maybe it just hurts too much and the wounds are raw
@franklinclinton4690
@franklinclinton4690 5 жыл бұрын
It's the same speculation if Breaking the habit.... Mike don't wrote this song for a friend, he wrote this song with a producer that's his friend, but this song is not about a friend of him, was about life and death....

Normally when fans recognize what song they’re about to play in a show it’s met with cheers and applause. You can tell how much this song means to the community from the collective “oh” at the beginning as they all realize they’re about to cry their eyes out.

2 years late commenting but yeah you nailed it. As soon as I heard the start I literally went "Oh..." and turned to my friend, and took his hand. Not just because of the weight of the song for Mike and the whole LP family, but for him personally too. His mum died in 2017 a few months after Chester and OML meant a lot to him. I still can't get through a KZbin vid of this without crying honestly.

I've met the band on 7 occasions and Chester was the kindest person I have ever met, he had no hate in him. I'm glad that I was fortunate enough to speak to chester on 2 occasions for close to 30 minutes on 2 occasions. The day I learned of his death I could not stop sobbing. Hey. To everyone reading this comment, I was the one who screamed his name... I was with my friends at the front, and I just felt like someone had to do it in that moment... I waited a few seconds and no one did, so I thought, well, I'm gonna have to I guess. I've kinda avoided watching these videos over for a long time, and even stopped/paused listening to LP for a while now. I'd just like to say I never expected such lovely comments, and how it made you emotional and stuff, like you felt it... I hope each and every single one of you keeps remembering Chester, doesn't give up, keeps up the fight, is there for one another, and continues to #BeKind. Thanks.

There were a few brief moments where you can physically see Mike struggle to maintain composure -- but the crowd, the LP Family, so visibly lifted his spirits and gave him the strength to muster through this song. So many complicated emotions during this song, for all of us. But we are ever-powerful when we lean upon one another and support each other. Together we are powerful and unstoppable. Together we can overcome any and all things.

bro its crazy how it still hurts so much to listen to the live stuff 3 years down the road. when he died, all the sudden all of his lyrics just made so much more sense in his personal context. you realize then, how much pain he was in constantly and just somehow always turned that into fuel for the fans. linkin park was like an extension of our collective families for so many years bc so many of us grew up defined by their music. the first album i ever bought with my own money at 12 years old was hybrid theory. chester helped all of us figure out how to navigate our lives through teenage angst and family problems and abuse for some and gave an outlet for all the negativity we would encounter in growing up. then for that light that was present in all of our collective darkness to just extinguish in an instant.. it sucked then and it still sucks 3 years down the road.

Everybody talks about Chester smiling with the guitar in the Friendly fire video, but it's his fistbump with Mike that breaks me every single time - so of course Mike's emotional, longing, thankful, true, holding-back-tears smile of his when the guy screamed his best friend's name here made me bawl immediately. You know, I and we all miss Chester and remember him, his talent, his goofiness and his tortured, beautiful soul, but I can never think of him without thinking of Mike too. All that we know he's gone through and what we'll never know, and how much he really loved - no, fuck that, loves - his friend, keeping his memory alive in our collective heads and hearts. Anyone who says that all that he and the guys have been doing over the years is nothing but a cash grab can fuck right off - I mean, are they monetizing over it? Absolutely, but there's tons beyond it. RiP Chester and go on, Mike, we'll be following you and your career for as long as you decide to work.
