I kept watching it, thinking I was missing something, because they REALLY built up the tension initially as to what his crimes were. But the doc boils down to a woman feeling cheated on. None of that is cool, of course, but they devote less reel time to the high school students he assaulted (the real crime) than Jen. This doc is mostly about how she felt cheated when she thought she was with the perfect guy.
@betsylaughlin8652 Жыл бұрын
I almost agree, but my main gripe is that it should not have been 3 episodes bc that required repetitive time filling. It seemed to me though that the story built very naturally: a false sense of normalcy established in the first ep, the second ep dedicated to discovery of the criminal accusation which was initially questioned but then backed up by the evidence of pathological serial deviant sexual behavior with adult women, and finally the culmination in the 3rd ep of the ultimate “betrayal”, which is what the series is named for: his criminal escalation of statutory rape against a minor over whom he had significant power. The third ep is what it all build towards, and is named for this final escalation, as it references crossing THE line. This story was well told, but a bit overlong. The inclusion of the first 2 eps were the stage to build towards the horrific final act. This man is a monster, I cannot fathom that he only gets a maximum of 5 years behind bars, bc it’s probably less with “good behavior”. He’s going to be dangerous for life and the only thing stopping him is that he’s now infamous bc of all these shows. It’s our only defense against the fact that he will be released, and uncured of his sick deviancy.

My heart goes out to you of course and to the other women that he manipulated and conned some of his text messages I have seen from an ex too who was very good at making me feel like I was the only one in the world too and I get it. It by no means excuses what he has done, and I hope he has a special place in Hell reserved for him.....thank God Rachel spoke up because I am 100% sure he would have escalated to more violent crimes as he went on and that may have lead to Rape and possibly murder. But for his ex wife to call him years later in jail asking him questions, looking for answers & closure she knowingly isn't going to get due to his mentality, just tells me that, although, she wants to be over him, she's really not. Sooooo dramatic these people, the daughter quit her job, school, sports all that. Why did her mom allow that. I believe the mother turned her daughter into a victim instead of empowering her to be strong and overcome this. His statement was no less sincere that the victims, he was only given that much time because it’s not that serious of a crime dumbos. He was a good standup person for decades and made 1 mistake he should have a second chance, I hope some of these people make a mistake one day and get punished. The red haired mom is so dramatic saying she was terrified when he got out like he was a murder lol, her daughter wasn’t even photographed so he obviously has some remorse and control by not taking photos of all the children he was around. Are they gonna try and ride this story for the money, you can tell Avaya isn’t as traumatized as she claims and just acted that way for court and to try and get him a longer sentence. She is not being victimized over and over again, she needs to move on and stop being a victim. He did nothing violent to her, he cannot even find god and try to be better person, these people just keep saying his effort trying to change is bullshit, he is legitimately trying to change.
