That's because if you check the Bible, Jesus isn't due back on earth until he is leading the army of angels at Armageddeon. At that time, the Phantom Stranger loses all purpose since there would be hundreds of thousands of beings as powerful as him on the planet.

@@mumuvp LOL OK, I don't know if you're serious or not but none of the accounts of ressurection reported the people as having any undead qualities. For example, Jairus' daughter was ressurected and given food to eat, she didn't attack anyone like some feral monster. Lazarus had been dead for days, but was ressurected in perfect health and looked normal. So much so that the religious leaders wanted to also assassinate him along with Jesus. As for Jesus himself, he was a special case. His appearance was well documented. He didn't look the same, but was in fact mistaken for the grounds keeper when one of the women came to visit the tomb at the cemetery. Later, two more of his disciples encountered him on the road while travelling and didn't recognise him until they heard him say a prayer over the meal they shared the same evening. None of the accounts match any undead creatures. But you are correct that there is some very comic worthy material in the Bible. The events recorded about Sampson for example, he was granted super strength by God. Also often overlooked is the time Elijah was given super speed allowing him to outrun Ahab's chariot to the city of Jezreel.

I think his power literally can't be measured because he can't measure it since it's literally the Big-G deciding when and where how much power the Phantom Stranger should wield while continuing to allow the Phantom Stranger Free Will, which seems to be a big thing with the Big-G in DC. It also appears in DC that the more omniscient an entity is, the less able they are to have agency, like a law of physics. Metron says something like this when he talks to the "One Above All"

I think you have a smart take on the Phantom Stranger's power level. Likewise, his knowledge of events is contingent upon what he needs to know. If I had to guess further, the Phantom Stranger's mission isn't defeating bad guys, but helping good prevail. In other words, helping beings with moral agency exercise that agency to become more good. That's why, in classic Phantom Stranger tales, there is often a problem with a mystical angle and a more practical angle, and PS deals with the mystical end while the other person (often just an ordinary person) has to make a moral choice and do the right thing.

@@JoshuaIfidi Is it dooming him though? I’ve read the comics and really like them. He is sent to wander and serve God in bringing the Greater Good. He helps people, finds love and plays a crucial part in the cosmic order not to forget that he is able to repay his sins. Which he does in a comic later on but decides to stay the Phantom Stranger. So I wouldn’t say it’s torment but the act of setting a person on a good and righteous path. Even though the older version where Jesus himself does it is weird. (Theory: Jesus actually meant three days but the stranger missed it)

In the finale issue of "DCeased: Dead Planet" (2020-2021), upon facing the Phantom Stranger, says, "Phantom Stranger? You are supposed to walk forever in limbo. You are not supposed to choose a side." - to which, the Phantom Stranger replies, "And yet, I have." This seems to indicate that the current Phantom Stranger origin is closer to the "neutral fallen angel" story.
