I’ve been following Officer Zweig since I found out who he was many years ago. I joined the navy in 2010 and I can confidently say the navy is still the same cesspool for a Black kid who’s driven and hates to fail. 6months I was double qualed EXW and ESWS. First person in history of the navy to do it on the USS Ponce. COC betting against me saying I’d fail. Couldn’t get signature to put in a packet. The racism was too much and no solid mentor. I got out and did SWAT at my department. Hearing his story just realizing it wasn’t just in my head or it wasn’t just my experience at my level. It’s crazy. Mad respect for you both!!!

I appreciate you bro. But I think sometimes what guys like you and Jake are calling racism is just ignorance and stupidity. Because the thing you guys may not realize is that guys of all different skin colors (especially Jewish guys, Italian guys anyone that’s looked at as coming from more “urban” or “city” environments) are going through the same struggles. The military has always been made up of so many guys from rural environments…the way they play is crazy. I could be wrong but just thought I’d let you know

This is why I like Jake. My way of trusting or gauging trustworthiness is the other person ability to tell their fuckups. It shows self reflection and an ability to live in reality versus candy land. When picking a mentor, that's another aspect of their personality to choose from. Invaluable in conversation.

He reminds me of a Naval Academy grad I met some time back. He became a Marine Infantry Officer. He was wild too. Down to earth and spoke his mind just like this. I think he was a 3:05:03 Q (Omega Psi Phi) which I didn’t even know you could do that at the Academy. I look back on my life and sometimes wonder if I should have taken my opportunity to go to the Air Force Academy. I’d be retired now. Anyway, I love the interview. These are role models that, yes, young black men need to see and hear.

unless you physically have pushed yourself or been pushed beyond what you thought was possible, you can't really fathom how many odds this man has overcome; not only through cleverness, planning, and consistent training, but also being built for it. Also if you weren't in the Navy, you have no idea the level of memorization and understanding you need to get a qualification. His story is a testament to how much preparation can help you instead of standing there idle with you thumb in your ass. Always like listening to guys like this. Four year Navy veteran, nuclear steam plant operator thank you both Jay and Jake.

Great podcast GB chronicles❗️🔥 Jake’s story is one of the best! He has so much passion, self purpose, and dedication. People need to put color behind them. The world needs to stop seeing black, white, yellow, brown. When you’re in the service we need to focus on seeing “green and blue”. The mentorship thing is excellent advice . In my early days I never had a mentor and then later on in life I had mentors. They are awesome, and can become lifelong friends. In closing you get out of it, what you put into it

Mr Jake like Jay said everything happens for a reason. You made the right decision if you look at where you're at now. I did deploy to South West Asia i.e. Iraq and was humbled quick. Many soldiers were KIA during the 1st day in theater due to combat and non combat injuries. Anyways I follow both of you two as an over 45 yrs old brotha for knowledge wisdom education and encouragement. 🤜🏿🤛🏿 ✊🏿 peace and blessings Jake and Jay

Captivating life, career, and triumphs. He should be recruiting, if not inspiring, every young man and woman who wants not only to survive but excel in life and hopefully serve. RIP E.D. Case [SF] and James Lee [Rangers].

Been binge listening to Jake's content He gives such a great gut check, he gives the kinda outlook that to me emphasizes the importance of staying on my toes and always trying to square my shit away and urging to be better sooner Hell, I lapsed and let myself get too excited about the idea of SOF, while its good to hold oneself to that standard, I've been more focused on reaching past said standard but moreso within the context of "I want to be the best infanteer I can be" rather than "I wanna get into SOF", especially considering how Canada makes it only available after about 3 years I hope that later in life I'm lucky enough that I can take a photo and mail it to Mr. Zweig and attribute at least a good chunk of my success to his gut checks
