Except for the motion simulation part of the package which is probably the most expensive in terms of production costs, anyone these days that wants to spend anywhere from 400$ to 30,000$ on external simulator hardware (depending on what type of cockpit) can quickly build themselves a very realistic simulator to practice with. The Redbird FMX units run on the Flight Simulator X (10) software which can be bought for 30$. Your cost for a simulator session are a little steep IMO.

I like it because you don't have to worry about the crappy weather and instructors just racking up hours on your credit card.

The Redbird Simulator does make a lot of sense, especially when you have an IFR rating and you need to meet the recency requirements for IFR. You are required to have done 6 hours and 6 approaches within 6 months of your next IFR flight. It doesn't sound like much, but that is a lot of flying for a GA IFR pilot to stay current. Using the simulator to log your official ground "instrument time" is therefore cost effective. You can make IMC conditions to the maximize your time at night, in cloud, in fog, in haze, in smoke, etc. You can also add a critical failure and see how you would react. Better to do the failure in a simulator rather than experience it in the real world I think. Keep the blue side up.

Do you guys offer package deals say for example the maximum allowed hours in the simulator? The price of aviation fuel is outrageous these days, allowing students to log hours in a simulator is an outstanding accommodation to the regulations. Btw, just so you know, The Brampton Airport has been faithfully recreated by the "Flight Ontario" development team. They have re-created CNC3 perfectly along with numerous other Southern Ontario small regional airports for use in Flight Simulator X.

This is so cool! I've always wished there was a system like this to buy for home use, but for dog fight simulation, TOP GUN style. Is there one and I just don't kno about it yet? If so pls share info here! TY!

i know right i pay $150 an hour in a real plane, my school has this model flight sim as well and its actually more expensive to fly in the sim.

Is that so?! huh. Actually, it’s not really that much cheaper than the real thing. $140 vs. $210. just for flight sim and motion etc. for 50K it’s not really that impressive for me
