This video is a Hobie-Wan Kenobi BFS fishing for trout using VARIVAS Super Trout Advance Bush Trail.

My thoughts about VARIVAS Super Trout Advance Bush Trail:
Visibility: The visibility really helps with casting and is a welcome feature of the line. When casting small lures, it can be difficult to track where you lure is and how much line is in the air during a cast.
The visibility does not really seem to deter fish too much either. Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Pike, Bass, Bluegill and Crappie have all fell victim to this line in a variety of water clarities.
Durability: The VARIVAS Super Trout Advance Bush Trail has been a very durable line when BFS fishing. A lot of high-end lines I have used are really slick in the package and then breaks down after fishing in the brushy, rocky stream I fish. Bush Trail has stayed really smooth and requires far less retying than other nylon or fluorocarbon lines I have used for BFS fishing. This has allowed me to re-tie less and fish trouble free. Confidence fishing in rocky and other areas that are prone to damage line has increased, leading to more fish.
Castability: The VARIVAS Super Trout Advance Bush Trail is very slick out of the package. This is due to the parallel winding. Parallel winding is a method of putting line on the spool "stacked" neatly next to itself to allow the line to not cross over itself and create pressure marks on it. The line showed a little less memory than other line in it's class and the memory would not show enough to cause any significant issues when casting, even after allowing the line to sit on the reel for a few days.
The orange color is visible above water and blends in pretty good when under water. This helps with casting BFS lures. Many times when using BFS lures in streams, the casting is very short distance and tracking your lure in the air is more difficult without a visible line.
I fish a wide variety of streams and creeks with BFS gear. If you want to learn more about BFS fishing or, just enjoy content about BFS fishing, please subscribe.
High tenacity line for fishing in the bush
VARIVAS VEP Manufacturing: Nylon with proprietary high wear-resistant coating.
20X the abrasion resistance of standard Nylon line.
High Tenacity: Perfect for fishing under circumstances of being scratched often, like fishing in the bush, rocks, or at the base of a bridge.
Highlight Orange color for excellent visibility and traceability.
I hope this video helps you out. Comment below for any questions. I will help you out.

Just came across your channel as I'm new to baitcasters and fishing in general. Just looking for abit of advice. I got 2 set ups so far, one Abu garcia zeta combos (medium fast rod, I've put 30lbs braided line on this) I've also found a ultralight in town. Its a Berkley lightning rod 8' with a 13 fishing concept A2 reel, I've put 4 lb mono line on this. My questions are my set up ok especially for BFS? Should I change up the reels or keep the current set up? (Break systems are diffrent) Is it true that you need to use atleast 20 lb braided line to avoid issues, and do you use this on BFS? Or should i just stick with mono? I don't know much about different spools that may be available for my reeels. should I be looking at these? You are putting out some great content, thanks for helping us noobs learn abit about this.

The reels will struggles with "BFS fishing". The light braid causing issues is of the spool holds a lot of line, pressure from a hookset can cause the line to bury inside itself. Braid is generally the safer bet because it is more durable to backlashes and, will give you the widest range of performance. Check out Bait Finesse Empire for an array of affordable BFS rods and reels.

@@HobieWanKenobi, thanks for the response much appreciated. Would you recommend using a higher weight braid like 20 lbs to avoid this issue or do you go lower for "BFS"? Gonna check out the site now.

What would u say is the shortest rod length you can go with? What are the draw backs of using a short rod? I just bought the shortest zephyr rod which is 1.53mm and Now that I got it I think it’s gonna be problematic for where I’m fishing. The shorter the better for me right now but I’m not quite sure about how short is to short. And would I be better off getting a shorter glass rod or carbon rod I’m gonna be in very tight quarters bank fishing until I save for a good pair of waders. Again I’m a beginner bout 3 grams is my limit on what I can cast with the stock zephyr with the occasional backlash from any casting method.
@HobieWanKenobi
@HobieWanKenobi 2 жыл бұрын
The issue that can happen with a short rod is that there is not enough length to make an effective taper. Short rods can be stiff or, overly whippy. This is not an absolute truth but, a generalization. The shorter trout rod will also be less versatile because of the lack of length. Wont be able to be as adaptable. The positive sides of a short rod is accuracy, weight, portability (in vehicle and while hiking). I live around a lot of brushy creeks that is troublesome for a longer rod.

If you could pick one reel unmodified to throw the 1 gram trout magnet, what would it be? What reel modified to throw the trout magnet, would it be?
@HobieWanKenobi
@HobieWanKenobi 2 жыл бұрын
I am never too concerned with casting trout magnets but, to answer your question, I would pick the Silver Creek for stock. The brakes allow it to be controlled and handle the wind quite well without choking too much distance. I like the AX24 Roro spool in any of the Silver Creek / Alphas AIR TW reels.

How much pe braid do you recommend to put on a spool?
@HobieWanKenobi

For BFS reels, I usually put 25m for small streams and 33m for larger ones. That allows me to save money and get 4-3 reels of line from one 100m spool of line.
