I have experienced first hand. Huge time waster. As a student, attending guest in the house was very stressful. Without information or invitation anyone could come anytime. Staying for night was common too. Never had an option to avoid. You have to be in your best in front of the guests and relatives. अतिथि देवो भव! Sacrifice your wife and children for them. Whose house you are living in? Is it yours or your in-laws'? They can invite but shouldn't expect you to cook, serve and clean alone. It should be a team work. I have organized parties (4-5 times a yr) for 24-25 ppl single handedly while working full time. It used to be fun, my guests and family members enjoyed it and in return we used to be invited by some of the families as well. I think if you are away from your city, province, or country then it is a nice way to stay connected to your culture. Socializing at home is much better and economic than socializing at a restaurant. Yes! Picnicking in a park is another option where families can bring food and share it. Don't stop socializing, eating, laughing, joking with friends and relatives is tonic to your health😊.

i don't understand the negativity around this whole food thing. I feel it is a way of showing love to people. Main bhi ye dikkat jheli hai apni pregnancy ke time par. 3rd trimster ke akhir ka 1 month bach atha jab main apne sasural gonda gayi thi. Gonda shahar ka ghar gaon ke ghar se bahut pass hone ki wajah se aur meri saas ki ati mitrta ke karan pura din koi na koi ghar mein guest rahta tha. Pura din chai pani dene mein hi bit jata tha. Pareshan hokar maine bhana banna shuru kar diya. Pregnancy ki wajah se raat mein neend na aaye aur jab din mein kisi waqt aankh lag jaye to meri saas mujhe chai banane ke liye utha deti thi. Par thank you sir ji aaj aapki baat sunkar bahut achha lag raha hai.

If you are at peace with yourself then why should any judgment of anyone rattle you... You don't go to others and they won't come to your home. Period! Kabhi kabhi bahut peace bhi nuksaan dayak hoti hai. You may be young now so can afford to be aloof but once you cross 30 yrs, you will long for some social interaction. Try to strike a balance between work life and healthy social life. Loneliness can lead to depression so be wary of it, many young ppl are battling with it in their plush apartments.

Amit ji, I totally agree with you. I know a person who lost his house because of inviting wrong people in his house, some of them were narcissists and emotionally toxic people. So it is very important nowadays to not invite people at home. 🤔

Moreover, I have witnessed some husbands boasting about/praising their mothers for serving guests, cooking for 30 plus people back in the days and how their current wives have so many issues doing the same. Also true, many husbands themselves would never cook for their own friends but will invite their friends and expect their wives to cook.
