Biden's continued support of genocide in Gaza could cost him the election

With each day that passes without a ceasefire in Gaza or a cessation of US aid to Israel, dissent within the Democratic party grows. In Michigan, more than 13% of Democrats voted uncommitted in the recent primary as a protest vote against Biden's stance on Gaza-and this is just the beginning. Calls have been put forward to organize other uncommitted votes in primaries around the country. While these protest votes are unlikely to dislodge Biden from securing the nomination, it's the underlying discontent with the Biden administration, shared by millions of Americans, that poses the real threat to his reelection. John Nichols of The Nation joins The Marc Steiner Show to discuss the infighting within the Democratic Party and the prospects of Biden's reelection this year.

By giving a thumbs up to the expansion of illegal West Bank settlements. And by moving our embassy to Jerusalem (a West Bank Palestinian city) and labeling it the Capitol of Isr. Trump has also further vowed to deport all “Hamas supporters”, referring to protesters marching for Palestinian freedom and to end the genocide. The only candidate I could vote for in good conscience is Jill Stein. With the Green Party anti-war platform and her call for a ceasefire. Just know she can’t win. I registered as a Republican in 1969 and became active in local campaigns, the dissonance slowly came upon me. It was George Bush that for me was the last straw. So in 2000 I lost all enthusiasm for the Republican disingenuous narrative. The core philosophy was simply a cover for a hidden agenda. It was the antithesis of Kant’s moral philosophy. But looking at the Democrats was equally uninspiring. I had grown tired of the sloppy arguments coming from Republicans and could not see the Democrats as any different. So I have become independent. And not just independent, but a strong critic of the duopoly. This 2024 election will be for me the very first election in which I shall refuse to vote for a presidential candidate. And I shall be vocal about it. I did vote for Biden in 2020 even though deeply reluctant because I saw Trump as a serious threat. But second time around, the support of Israel’s genocide is too much. I will have nothing to do with either candidate.
