The death toll in Gaza is now inching closer and closer to 30,000, with no end in sight to Israel's bombing or US political, military, and financial support for the genocide unfolding. Amid the carnage and horror of the past 144 days, Gaza's medical workers have worked around the clock under unimaginable conditions to save as many lives as possible. Israel has answered their bravery with brute savagery, laying waste to every single one of Gaza's hospitals, routinely targeting emergency medical vehicles, and killing at least 627 healthcare workers. Dr. Thaer Ahmad, a Palestinian American ER physician, speaks with The Real News on what he witnessed at Al Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis during his recent medical mission to the Gaza Strip.

Many years ago I was discussing the Israeli Palestine conflict with my friends on Facebook. One of them who was a professional Israeli hand balancer who worked for Cirque Du Soleil Send me a private message saying that you could not negotiate with the Palestinians because they were animals. I had always liked this guy and apart from that single interaction there was absolutely nothing about him that said he was anything else but a decent good hearted human being. I never knew how to reply to him and it's something I've been thinking about a lot since this conflict in Gaza kicked off. It has finally come to me and I know what I wanted to say to him so I'll say it here. When you dehumanize your enemy you dehumanize yourself.

To anyone who has any issues with anything that the Palestinian Resistance Factions have done or are alleged to have done-on and since Saturday October 7th, 2023-ask yourself: How many of the purported “Israeli civilians” were actually military/police/security reservists, settlement security volunteers, or workers in Israeli military or dual-use industrial/communications/logistical/material support roles? According to Israel’s own doctrines, standard operating procedures, and rules of engagement, any such persons would have been fair game to target, even if unarmed at the time. *_Nothing_* that the Palestinian Resistance Factions have done or are accused of doing, violates _any_ rules, doctrines, SOPs, and RoEs that the Israeli regime claims to hold its own operatives, personnel, and constituents accountable to. Your problem isn’t with the Palestinian Resistance Factions. It’s with Israel’s official doctrines, standard operating procedures, and rules of engagement. Israel and its allies wrote the rules. Don’t blame the resistance factions for following the rules. You don’t like their actions or alleged actions? Change the rules, and hold everyone accountable fairly. The Dahiyeh Doctrine-amongst other such things-is just as applicable to the Gaza envelope and Tel Aviv, as it is to Beirut or Gaza. Accept that.

Thank you, Dr. Thaer Ahmad, for all that you do, and all that you've shared here, and thank you Marc Steiner for presenting this show. This is what we Americans need to hear. I don't know why we are still sending weapons and money to Israel, when that money would be far better spent sending humanitarian aid for Palestine. And no Marc Steiner, you're no traitor for presenting this, I am half Jew myself, and do not agree with what Israel is doing.

It warms my heart to hear about the children seeing pictures of the protests. They don’t know there is so much sorrow is felt, around the world, for the hell they’re going through. On another note. As a paramedic, I can’t imagine being in that situation trying to save what lives can be saved, while risking my own. Those medics, doctors, and nurses transcend courage. I’m both impressed with them and horrified for them.

Why don't countries with influence help to improve the situation there. Just allowing aid to enter would be enough. But this time military aid and soldiers for Palestinians would be helpful.
