Big Band Sound 1977. Alan Dell pays tribute and interviews Syd Lawrence 10 years on after forming his Big Band /Orchestra in 1967. It was fascinating to hear that his band was set up just for his pleasure and proved so popular it moved on to much greater things. He is one of the greats with his wonderful styles, particularly his Glen Miller sounds. Some great music here on this BBC Radio 2 show from way back in 1977.

Yep quite agree the late John Peel was a huge fan of Alan Dell, and his knowledge on Dance Bands was just amazing and sadly missed. And BBC Radio 2 is just not the same these days with all these greats sadly gone All the best Kev.
