Hi guys... nice try. Take backhoe and remove pumping soil. Break up the concrete dumped on the hill and use that material to stabilize the sub grade. Bring in an excessive amount of crushed stone and place it first where this truck was stuck then on curves. You can regrade later and use for your road. Also cap the new crushed stone with fines and dust to lock the gravel in place. Just having compacted gravel with nothing to lock it in place just won’t work. I don’t know everything and I might be wrong this time but I have been in construction 50 years and I believe what I have suggested is a viable solution. Have fun and stay safe.

Another pro tip… when lifting items to a high elevation, run your straps/chains etc over the back of the bucket (between the center two teeth) and attach to an eye if the bucket has one. If not attach it somehow. This will allow you to roll the bucket out (dump) and get a higher lift while not having to worry about your straps/chains sliding off the teeth of the bucket. Much safer that way. Sorry, not trying to second guess your work. I owned 4 minis for about 20 years and learned a few tricks along the way. The project looks great! Can’t wait to see the apartment come to life!

I just thought I'd share; do you know what a grizzly bar is , it's used to separate rocks, gravel, and dirt by dumping loader buckets on the slanted bars, anything bigger than tennis balls rolls off the angled grid small stuff collects under grid and can be moved to wherever you want.Look up gold mining industry or tv series dealing with the trials and tribulations of gold miners in Canada --Alaska .

Ironically, the mugs I ordered from your site arrived today as I was watching you. The absolutely funny part is where they came from. I used to live in Southwest Greensburg! I know Roseytown Road quite well, I have travelled it many times. At the top end is a Goodwill Store on one side and a cemetery on the other and of course a stop light. On the bottom side is a field on one side and a micro brew on the other. Eddie

I couldn't tell, but I hope, hope, hope that you gave the mud (concrete) at least four hours or more to firm up before you started putting beams on it. I mean, you can put the beams on, but there is less chance of it cracking if you you wait eight hours, or the next day, before you begin to add stress to it. Green mud will crack, and if it's buried, you won't find out..... but then again, it may not affect the actual structure over the top of it.

Boomer is a lot like my Jager, the Stealth pup. Not a full lab but 75/25 lab/shepherd. But a wild thing when he was young. He lived with his brother for a while. Their rough housing we called puppy wars. Great entertainment. Anyway Jager eventually got to the stage where he might run off somewhere but you could set you watch by it, he would always come back around every 30 minutes to check in.

As a remodeling contractor I can honestly say there is nothing more satisfying than setting a beam that is so perfectly placed it requires a bit of force to get it in place but not so much that it deforms. Those two floor beams were perfect, nice work you two! The joy in the work is in the details.

11/2/23, 9pm. Your footers for the loft were done wrong. You should have had a footer approx 2' thick, approx 2x2' wide at frost and the column resting on the that. Also no need to surround it with sooo much concrete, just enough to prevent lateral movement which is unlikely. Also you didn't say if you crowned the joists. Bravo for your accomplishments! James

Did you not know when working on PSI for pads, the pad needs to be at least half the thickness of the width, and reinforced? If you pad is 2 feet wide then it should be at least 12 inches thick before the post is placed on it, then at least another 12 inches should be placed on top of that giving you a total of 2 x 2 x 2 feet cube concrete. The 2 inches you did will break over time allowing the post to push through it I am sorry to say. This is the same for all of your wall posts too. As they said on Titanic movie, over time your ship will falter.

Might I suggest you all wire some lights up in the rafters? Will make working later in the building easier. Will be nice later to have attic lighting throughout also. No need to go crazy with nice lights, just some bright cheapies. Next option would be to get some string lights and hang them from the rafters as a more temporary solution. Either way, a little time now for lighting will pay dividends, especially as winter approaches and the sun goes down earlier. Building is coming along nicely. You all take care.

I realize that this video is 1 year old but I am a truck driver and think that this little tip I want to share may help others The 28 ft beam should have been loaded like a canoe over the top of the truck cab and hood and supported by some pallets from the lumberyard in the bed on top of the other building materials that way you would only had 4 feet over hang on each end of truck for safer turning

I like the use of those posts in the end walls. While they aren't major load-bearing pieces, using them to support that main beam just ties your whole structure together with even more strength. Boone: "I see you have cookies for breakfast. I too like cookies for breakfast". Watch out when carrying extra long loads like that beam. Over 10' of overhang is legally an oversized load in Idaho, and you may need a permit. Not to say you can't get away without one, but if you are pulled over or involved in an accident, it could cause problems for you. Great to see the apartment underway. Looking forward to the next episode.

When you are compacting earth/fill, add water, just a little. Damp earth will compact nicely. Also, when you are fitting beams/columns, hit them with a rubber maul, not a steel one. No scars or dents! Your crane work is impressive, not easy working inside your own home.
