@@colbyarbuckle6588 I love Ras. I could see a veleno trade. As long as kasper would not be buried in the 4th line I’ll take whatever. We are a rebuilding team and can only develop players outside the nhl for so long. We are literally a top 5 oldest team in the league as a “rebuilding team”.

Expect to see a youth movement for their prospects starting around 2025/2026 cuz that's when contracts for the stop gap veterans start to come off the books. Petry and Maataa come off at the same time then Chiarot and Holl come off the following year. Then Copp and Debrincat in 2027. This roster will be wide open for anyone to take a spot that isn't Compher, Larkin, Raymond, Rasmussen, or Seider or Edvinsson

The Wings, I believe, made a mistake by signing Joe Veleno a 2-year contract. He's worthless. Did almost close to nothing for the Wings last season. At this point, I would take take either one of those rookie candidates (Danielson, Kasper, or Mazur) over a totally useless Veleno. Even if Veleno went down to GR, I still don't think he would make an impact even there. If Veleno, as a Center, doesn't get his act together this season by playing like a professional hockey player, the Wings need to let this guy go. He's just not worth putting on the ice, regardless of how young these rookies are. Why is Stevie Y so stubborn on something like this? Does he think he was ready to play in the NHL when he was 18 yoa? So it was good for him, but not good enough for these other rookies? Don't think so. Stevie Y may have been a great role model as a captain for the Wings, but without the supporting cast of Fedorov, Lidstrom, Larionov, Shanahan, and others during those dynamic years of the 1990s and early 2000s, Stevie Y may have never won a Cup. Stevie Y wasn't like a Mario Lemieu or a Wayne Gretzky or even a Guy Lafleur. Stevie Y was a great role model as a team captain, but in my estimation, he did not take the Wings by storm to win a Cup. He needed to have the above support to do it. What irks me is he continues to slow the potential of these other younger players. Hoping he won't do that much longer. It could cost him his job.

How old are you? Do you have any idea what you’re saying? Gretzky never won a Cup apart from the mid-80’s Hall of Famer packed Oilers. Lemieux had Jagr, Francis, and 6 other Hall of Famers. Every player that played with Yzerman said he was the heart and soul of the franchise and led the team in scoring mixed with Selke level defense. I WATCHED it myself.

Veleno is liked by the coaching staff he's a valuable 2 way player they can move up and down the lineup Not sure he is an everyday top 6 though lacks a certain amount of creativity/high end skill. He'll mainly play bottom 6

He's not worthless. Have you not seen Veleno skate? He's almost as fast Larkin. He has good size and has 260 hits over the past couple of seasons (3rd most on the team). Veleno has played mostly with the 4th line grinders, that's why he has so few points, but 28p is still really good for a 4C. There is competition for the 3C spot this year, hopefully Veleno has had a good offseason and can push Copp to the 4th line.

as far a a 4th line center goes he is doing just fine. Honestly do you want any of these kids coming up and playing on a defensively minded checking line before they are physically mature enough to do it. It could ruin their careers. You want those kids to compete for a top 6 or even slide into a role as a winger on a finesse line to get the most out of their development. There is going to be some shuffling around before the trade deadline and by the time Valeno's contract is up the team will look a lot different by then. You want these prospects to be able to compete, or at the very least be tradeable for positive assets. That's Hockey baby.
