Actually big traps might even make you look wider, because they divide the uppers edge of the body into more segments, what visually makes it look wider. (neck- traps - shoulders vs. neck - shoulders)

If your traps attach low on your neck they could be infinitely big without ever creating that 'narrow/sloping'. I'd say yours look to be about medium height in terms of where they attach. I've seen guys whose traps attach so high it's like they really DO go up to their ears. The funny part about that is that their traps are still going to slope up like crazy regardless of how big they are, because the shape is mainly determined by the attachment point on your neck, not how thick they are.
@yasinpatel5147 жыл бұрын

My neck is 19 and a half inches and my shoulders would look wider than they are if I could get the neck narrower. So for years I went the route of lateral raises but any shoulder exercise makes my neck bigger so I was wasting my time I think. In the end I just went fuck it and blasted the fuck out of shoulders with OHP, lateral raises and shrugs on top of my deadlifting. "Fuck it" mode is so much better than worrying about ANYTHING when lifting. I knew I had to get shit done. When I was a lanky 6'4 teenager I wanted to gain weight desperately. It wasn't until I got into my 30's that it started coming on. Now I look like a bull with thick back, wide lats, big neck, big traps and defined deltoids - but a year from being 50. I wish I was like I am back in my twenties but better late than never. If there was in the 1980's the internet and the advice available today I would've been, all I had was the info I read in magazines at the house of mates (I didn't buy the mags) and the trainer guy in charge of safety in the gyms I went to, places I paid to use but ended up leaving because of confrontations with other lifters.

The shoulder to waist ratio means nothing, it doesn't indicate how wide you truly are. It all comes down to the real width across shoulders from mid delt to mid delt in inches or cm. Under a shirt or jacket it's gonna show who is a scrawny guy with 18 inch shoulder width and a small waist, and who is an alpha with long clavicles and a 23 inch shoulder width even if the waist is blocky. I would rather look like that last one than a guy who looks like has the bone structure of a 15 year girl

A lot of trap development is genetic. If your tall and narrow your traps are more pronounced. If your short and wide less so. I've been training 15 years. I do shrugs with 7 plates for 6 reps but I'll often see a 6ft2 inch dude with pointy traps up to his neck shrugging 2 plates...and I'm possible 2 times as wide as him..so there is some partial truth to width and traps.
@AlexLeonidas8 жыл бұрын
You're probably way bigger than him as a whole though. Highly doubt it's the traps, in fact if he's taller than you that should automatically give him a size edge. This tells me that you have an excellent physique in comparison to most, which would explain why you appear so broad. Then again this is only my speculation.

every muscle i train makes the rest of my body look worse in comparison, that's why I don't train at all and look H-U-G-E.

Alex if im a early intermediate running NE 2x a week , should I increase my weights with 10lbs in a week or 5lbs? For example 1rm ohp with minibands on intensity days

Baris BANDDESTINY You should increase as much as you can

Baris BANDDESTINY depends how long you've lifted. You can add 5lbs a each time you train simply doing 3x5 or 5x5. I did this adding 10lbs a week for a good while. Once you can't increase it like that anymore you can just use concurrent periodisation and add only 5lbs a week to each lift. If you can't then deload like 5-10lbs. Overhead press and exercises like it will be harder to increase than squats, deadlifts and bench press. I've been deadlifting a month and went from 220lbs to around 310lbs max. 90lbs in a month... Noob gains are insane, I love it.

Baris BANDDESTINY Base it off of the previous weeks workout.

10 pounds a week is novice progression, not intermediate
@kotallysavage64968 жыл бұрын
fangiscool1 didn't even notice he said he was a intermediate as he asked 5-10lbs a week. If he can add that much he's a novice. I'm a novice and I hate it but at the same time I love that I hit a 5lb PR twice a week which feels great.
