This stuff is why I loved hunter in TBC so much. I played survival back in the day, and without really knowing much about shot rotations, I eventually ended up naturally on a 5:5:1:1, probably because It flows perfectly without the 20% attack speed from BM, but anyway, now playing this again it just felt pretty natural again. This is such an important part of the whole hunter class. Awesome video, man.

It seems complicated but it's actually kinda simple when you get your head round it. It's basically, when you've got loads of haste buffs, do 1:2, when you have some, do 1:1, and when you have none, do 5:5:1:1

Im using Don Santos' Famous Hunting Rifle and i do more damage than my guildie who has full bis and uses kara bow and does 1 to 1 with multishot. Im always using arcane shot on cd. It feels so much smoother. Eslecially at high attackspeeds. My average js about 1.2 k dps using cheap gems and not optimal enchants no expensive scope. Other hunters in my raid have all this and still blow em away with arcane shot in my rotation.

Bro, I thought you did real good explaining this. Didn’t realize the rotation is changing on the fly so much consciously. I watched my WST, popped my GCD, avoided clipping and when the pace picked up I cut back on the Multi and Arcane. But now I have a framework to what to be on the look out for giving me a step ahead. Warriors (each 3 specs) Priests (each 3 specs; disco obviously in pvp) Ret Feral Arcane mage (its harder to manage mana than pressing one button watching from time to time quartz XDDD) And also playing ranged dpser in TBC is so damn chill compared to playing melee. So ye, hunter (both surv and bm; well, surv is a lot more complicated in terms of optimizing dps but its fairly easy nevertheless) is one of the easiest tbc classes.

I also obtained a DST, Hell yah bruther!!! ahaha that little jib made me giggle. but with RF, Lust, Hawk and DST procing all together. i can shoot as fast a 0.9 a sec ooooo boy. so at that point do i just ride autos people say trying to squeeze in steadys at that point is just a dps loss.

Costs way too much mana. Makes targets un ccable. Only used for pvp to keep rogues outta stealth imo.

At 5:15 you do 3x steady shots with arcane right after the third and not 2x steady as you say in the explanation. I'm confused.

The point is to throw insta shot each time you have time to do it without overcliping. So you do steady + auto -> steady + auto + insta shot -> steady + auto -> steady + auto + insta shot and so on because each second rotation of 'auto+ steady' you have time to fit gcd between another steady + auto.

Hey mate, got a question. if i look at dps in a dps meter. and i see they have done 100 steady shots and 70 auto shots, that means they have been clipping right (as u can never have more steady shots than auto shots in any rotation)?

When you have 1.3 attack speed or below and are supposed to shift to 1:2 are you just spamming steady shot and assuming GCD will prevent you from clipping? Or are you actually supposed to be timing it to ensure you steady right after the second auto goes off?

Using wolf slayer was horrible i ended up at 0,7 often in raids and was auto twice or even three times to 1 steady. I farmed SV HC and got the bow with less dam about slower speed 3.0, and got my first 99s that one is super nice and pulls ahead in DPS compared to wolf slayer gun.

KC Isn't on the GCD so you just use it when its up, dont interupt a steady for it but you can macro it into your other spells or just spam it on its own keybind

Thanks for this. I'm still confused because it's really needlessly complicated to master, and watch threat, and interrupt stuff, and get out of fire, and watch DBM timers. Hopefully this helps. I went from using the HH rep gun to Sunfury and lost DPS. Going to try 1 to 1 and save French for my haste CD's. I have a lot. Abacus, drums, rapid fire, heroism. Too much for my brain to calculate at once. I'm hoping to just string them together one after the other.

This weak aura also shows what aspect you are using right in the middle of the screen and I can't figure out how to disable it or at least move it elsewhere. I'm also not very good with weak auras in general. Anyone know how to disable/move it?

yeah i have the same problem. I just had a hunter in my grp with shitty gear (he had a 2,1k GS and mine is ~2,5k) that outperformed me. Me: 1700 AtkPower and 22% crit. The other Hunter: 1200 AtkPower and 15% crit. He said his rota is 1:1 SS - AS like mine. I looked into Details and saw that he had more autoshots than steadyshots (sometimes 20% more AS than SS) and i had more SS than AS. His bow speed was 2.8 mine is 3.0. But everyone is saying that slower bows are better, so i dont get why my dmg stinks compared to a low equiped hunter.

It's relative to the cd... Basically by the time they come back up you use them... 1:1 Multi 1:1 1:1 Now half the cd for multi shot is done so... Arcane shot 1:1 1:1 At this point your cd are gonna back up at roughly the same time as it appears in the rotation... Soo just repeat

I'd recommend macroing Steady Shot, Arcane Shot, and Multi-Shot with a KC line before the shot cast. If you want to optimise, it's also a good idea to have a separate keybind as well. Be wary that sometimes you'll have to hit your steady macro twice to cast KC and the shot itself, I find this to be one of the most common things to scuff my rotation (i.e. I only press once and delay or miss next steady). I've heard that doing KC purely manually, without being macro'd with other shots, can resolve this - but yet to test myself.

KC is off GCD so I got SS on 1 and KC on 2, multi on 3, before SS is casted I hold 2 release after cast then press 1 again. But honestly once you have enough crit KC is basically cast on CD it might be more efficient to macro it into everything once you reach that point

Clipping auto shot by casting over and over again will kill your dps. Get a swing timer it will help alot

Really depends on the amount of hp left of the boss, if you like below 50% than it’s not most of the time, simply because it takes 6 seconds to ress and huge amount of mana

Hunter Jesus himself here. You are using your swingtimer incorrect mate. Cast steadyshot when you are in the red zone of it. like this gain more speed; clip less and dont have to worry about the GCD with higher haste situations. Cheers

This means you are basically shooting while in the steady shot cast. And not waiting for your shot to go off and then cast steady shot. It feels so much smoother and is a dps gain - quite significant. Tell me in your next video by how much I just improved your hunter gameplay quality :)
