Thanks Joe for all the time you put in and make data available. You are the first bolt on ported one size fits all that I would trust. Just the fact you have a place doing plating is huge. That was a pretty big gain for a saw that will only get stronger for the next 5 gallons run through it. As a work saw the gain with a long bar 36" and above I'm sure will be even more noticeable. Thanks will be giving you a call soon about plating SP 125 cylinders

@@dynojoemods2764 Something for the Stihl ms462 that gives them some torque would be good! Their stock numbers are pretty decent, but they just don’t make torque…I think it’s mostly due to the lean air/fuel mix by the m-tronic, but either way, they sure need some help…🤔🫣

Solid 15% gains in cut speed in the timber - that’s a healthy gain for a bolt-on product! As long as you keep the QC in the USA 🇺🇸 you’re golden. I recall someone marketing a “cross performance” 660 cylinder awhile back but the QC was horrendous and they didn’t pass the test of time. Sum Ting Wong laid an egg 🍳

Curious how the single ring Wiseco will hold up in that cylinder, vs the stock 2 ring, particularly with that coarse cross-hatch.

They may take a while to seat in, but the steel ring should hold up really well with these more mild port shapes.

How would it hold up for milling? Worth testing or would it just run too hot? Will a non-ported or very conservative ported big bore kit be available? I’d like to see 500i, 400C, and 261CM. I think a 261 would be great one to do next because it’s so lightweight and cost significantly less than the other pro models, there’s also a bunch of them out there.
@dynojoemods27643 ай бұрын
Should be ok milling. Maybe a little extra muffler outlet. Would be great on the carb models too. Problem with some of the strato saws is piston availability. Custom ones would be very very expensive
@PurpleNovember3 ай бұрын
@@dynojoemods2764 I was thinking the same thing about the pistons and I was thinking about tuned exhaust for milling. We’re using a 500i for milling and it works well but we need to step up to a 661 or 881. The 661CM is preferred because of the m-tronic and same bar mount as our other Stihl saws. We can also pick up well used 661’s pretty easily for a cheap price. If I’m rebuilding the entire saw it’s easy enough to put a big bore jug on it.

@dynojoemods27643 ай бұрын
Yes can do an iron sleeve on most any cylinder and replated. Neither of which is a cheap process. As the sleeves for these all need to be custom made. The plating is the cheaper route for sure especially open cylinders

Are these big bore kits made to be bolted on using a base gasket on the cylinder?

They were machined to run with sealant only. But that also allows a thin gasket to be used if a case is ever a bit thinner than the rest.

Are the wiesco pistons forged? If they are will there be an issue with cold siezing like mx bike motors? I know that warming up the engine is alot more important with a forged vs cast piston.
@dynojoemods27643 ай бұрын
They are forged, should be ok in this application, but that will all be tested and such to see how they hold up.
@MotoLife5413 ай бұрын
@dynojoemods2764 I know that a forged piston will expand quite a bit more than cast, making it necessary to have more cylinder wall clearance. I've had a lot of 2 stroke motorcycles with forged pistons that will have a slight piston slap at cold start but will go away once warm. Just curious. Thanks for all the awesome content keep it coming bro.

@@dynojoemods2764 dang man I was really hopeful in that it would work. Joe I have a 550xp mark2 and it rips. I seen the website that advertised port work but is that for the complete build? I could send a new saw if needed but it might be easier just to have it delivered from the seller to your place rather than me ordering it and then sending it to you. I'm thinking the 562 ported would be the perfect saw for around the farm. It would be mostly a firewood saw but between my 550, ns872i, ms660 I'm still needing a saw that is capable but not super heavy ya know.
