That mother stole her entire childhood. I am not saying she gets off free, but a manslaughter charge would of been more appropriate. Plus the fact Tony Micel says it was raging hormones that made her kill her mother is ridiculous. She wasnt a 15 year old boy she was 23 years old. +Daniel Santos; you want to blame a girl who was screwed up by the tormenter she eventually had killed. That daughter was not safe for much longer and society had failed her. She had no incentive to follow an ethical code towards people who were unethical to her. If she gets treated like an animal in prison then it would be fair game for her to act like an animal in retaliation towards those abusers. It's shameful that another human as you would denigrate this poor fellow earthling for her desperate choice. Plus the conditions are not the same now. She can finally speak her mind to others and not be so estranged as to see no other choice but to murder a censoring captor who administers poison regularly and was even liable to murder that daughter in time to hide the truth and escape justice. Gypsy is a hero as much as a military veteran. One less terrorist in our midst thanks to her and Nick.

Gypsy was raised thinking no one would help her, she grew up on Disney where the hero kills the villains for the Princess. She should have gotten the mental help she needed. The drugs, even without the mental and physical abuse would make her detached from reality. That poor girl. Deedee should have had to stand trial. Its a shame she chose murder to escape. This is such a difficult case.
@mickeymouse126784 жыл бұрын
I didn't even think about the movie thing, but that's actually a good point. She had hardly any education besides the children's programs she would watch on TV. She didn't have much in the way of learning a more complicated morality system beyond this. In many of those programs, the prince saves the girl. She convinced Nick to be her hero in shining armor and it's really sad that both of their lives end up being wasted due to lack of leniency.

Agree 100% that one of the great tragedies of this case is that Dee Dee never had the chance to be tried & convicted (hopefully very harshly, IMO) for the literal lifetime of abuse & torture to which she subjected her helpless daughter. Her death prevented gypsy from ever truly receiving the justice she so badly deserved. Also, I agree about the Disney-fication of Gypsy's worldview. She was raised to sincerely believe in an ostensible world in which the hero always rescues the captive princess-in-distress and then ultimately triumphs over the villain, whereupon the two of them live happily ever after in an ideal romantic fantasy: the end, roll credits. This relentlessly imposed worldview most likely left her without either a rational, functional moral compass or the capacity to conceptualize any real-world consequences of her actions. I think her entire life with Dee Dee can be summed up by the psychological concept of "learned helplessness." The whole thing is immeasurably unjust & tragic in so many ways, on so many levels.

It isn’t mentioned here but Gypsy DID run away once and her mom tracked her down & I believe handcuffed her to the bed. There was also at least one (maybe multiple, I don’t recall) wellness checks made by the police looking into Gypsy being abused & Deedee charmed them away. How can you prove 1st degree murder in a case where you can not prove how someone died. And when there is ANY doubt, the jury is required by law to find a person not guilty. The state should have changed Anthony with, disposing of the childs body and possibly neglect that resulted in death. But they over reached due to public opinion and outrage. Had they charged her with what they could prove, she would still be in prison today. Where she belongs. After throwing her baby away like so much trash.

Have two feeding tubes (one into my stomach, one into my intestines) and they are torturous. Placing a tube into the intestines is an extremely hard surgery, and placing one into the stomach isn’t near as difficult but is extremely painful. Feeding tubes are usually held in by a balloon which can be inflated and deflated from the outside. For a stomach tube, they deflate it pull the old tube out, put the new one in, inflate the balloon and send you on your way. This is done every 4-6 months. They usually leak quite a bit and your stomach acid eats your skin. An intestinal tube is much more extensive and difficult to change. Usually done under live x-ray and the doctor uses a guide wire to get the tube down to into the intestines and to lay correctly. Tubes suck. I can’t imagine having to deal with them and all the pain and trouble they cause when you don’t need them and know you don’t.

There is one fact that makes me believe she should have gotten less time and that is that Gypsy did accidentally find her birth certificate and when she confronted DeeDee, DeeDee obtained power of attorney over Gypsy due to Gypsy's "many mental and medical" problems. Gypsy really had no way out. Everyone had been told Gypsy had the mental development of a child. I doubt even law enforcement would have believed Gypsy at this point.

It is cause munchausen by proxy is literally a life or death situation cause eventually when theres no more sicknesses to take advantage of the last thing to get attention is and has always been death. There was a case of a kid who was killed in a hospital by his mother and his mother had munchausen by proxy. It should always be seen as self defence if the kid ends up killing the person subjecting them to it cause it is a form of abuse

This girl was literally on tons of medications, mentally and physically abused, and forced into believing that she really did have all of these medical issues. How are the doctors not held accountable? For giving her all of these unnecessary drugs and treatment. Of course she isn't going to act normally! Sentencing her for 10 years is ridiculous (but being a Missouri resident, many court cases that go on here prove to be corrupt).
@honeyandvanillatea5676 жыл бұрын
The mother was extremely manipulative. She was bound and determined to have medical treatments and she also has that medical knowledge, so she could twist everything around.
@crystalfarmer40746 жыл бұрын
The doctors that knew nothing was wrong with Gypsy and had suspicions about Dee Dee had a responsibility to report their suspicions and they didn't. They did nothing and therefore in my opinion they allowed the medical abuse to continue by being so irresponsible in not reporting their suspicions.

@eliskawiesnerva73537 жыл бұрын
I know people might say that murder was also kinda Gypsy's fault (well obviously, cause she was involved in that murder), but look at it from different angle... this girl was drugged with pills everyday, locked home like in prison and forced to act like she's handicapped. Imagine living like this for years, you would be as frustrated as her. Things like this also stick with you for the rest of your life. So.. I think Gypsy is actually a really sweet girl, but life's been rough with her. All she wanted is to be finally free and live her life.

@Honey D Rehab for only having a kindergartner education, being heavily drugged for over half her life, and being severely abused. Gypsy didn't even know her real age, and she had no way to get out of her situation since everyone thought she had brain trauma. No one's saying she isn't guilty of the crime or justifying it in any sense, they just don't want Gypsy to suffer her entire life from a mistake that she wasn't in the right mindset to properly think out.
@feodorawicked50144 жыл бұрын
@Honey D Except for the fact that she was very much physically abused. The one time she tried to escape her mother chained her to a bed for two weeks. She'd beat her, hit her with weapons, and slap her. She was heavily medicated and even went through cancer treatments, which are aggressive and already weaken a person's body. Also, even if she did manage to somewhat educate herself, it was nearly close to the level of which she should've had, and the excuse of "she could've educate herself" is BS because Dee Dee was very protective and kept close watch on her. Not only that, but that's going off the idea that a person with that regressed of a mind state would even be able to educate herself properly in the first place. No matter what your excuse is, Gypsy was basically being held hostage and was not in the right mind state to make rational decisions. No one is saying that Gypsy is innocent of murder. People just want her to receive the education she deserves and the mental help she deserves. None of which can be adequately provided whilst in prison. There are plenty of cases in which people commit murder and are given the treatment that they need instead of just rotting in a prison cell. Society as a whole failed Gypsy, she literally had no other choice at that point, and it was likely that Dee Dee was eventually going to kill her. God the lengths some people go through to victim blame.
@feodorawicked50144 жыл бұрын
@Honey D Taking a bunch of over the counter medication is also extremely bad. Mixing medications can be harmful. There's no evidence that suggests that Gypsy is lying about anything, we're taking her word over the mother who literally starved her mother to death. And, once again, "educating herself pretty well" is a BS statement since you literally can't expect someone who stopped having a proper education in kindergarten to be able to educate herself even close to properly. Also, it's a bit ironic you're telling me to keep to the facts when part of your argument is going off your own intuition and what you think. Unless you have any evidence to prove Dee Dee wasn't abusive, then most people will side with the person claiming it. You're literally downplaying the extreme trauma a situation like this would cause, and downplaying the effects of various OTC medications can do when abused.

hailey baker - sorry this is kinda late since i recently stumbled upon this video- but self defense is only reasonable when the person is in immediate threat in that moment in time. if she didn't have a knife to her throat or gun to her head it wasn't self defense, and especially not if she sent someone to do the dirty work for her. nonetheless, her sick mother is beyond evil. that word holds no power to all the actions she's done to the people around her.
