She’s going to get out of prison at age 30. With no therapy for her trauma, no career, nothing past a kindergarten education, and nowhere to go. 10 years in prison instead of a facility to help her, is insane, and unfair.

How could nobody see it was puberty and raging harmones the reason Gypsy had Deedee killed. Her 1st time was in a theatre men's bathroom. After the murder they went to a hotel and asked Nick to rape her. She didn't snap from the lie she was a part of. She became a woman. Let's keep it real now. She's not that little girl that jumped in that pile of snow. We all saw Gypsy's act when DT told her your mother is dead. That was an Oscar worthy performance.

@Molly Exactly, I believe that the sentence is to harsh. Her mother basically robbed her life from her, 23 years of it. He isnt thinking about all the procedures and medications that her mother made her endure. That had to be a living hell. I cant even imagine having a feeding tube forced on me and surgery's. That mother stole her entire childhood. I am not saying she gets off free, but a manslaughter charge would of been more appropriate. Plus the fact Tony Micel says it was raging hormones that made her kill her mother is ridiculous. She wasnt a 15 year old boy she was 23 years old. More like she was mentally, physically abused and that is what made her do it.

She was a hostage, but obviously not completely all there. Neither was Nick, he has no excuse. He straight up murdered the mom because he was told to do so. Both are to blame, yes it was a “hostage” situation, but what both of them did is still very much illegal. They planned the death of a women, a terrible nasty one, and then proceeded with it. They shouldn’t be set free, but she should receive help to rehabilitate her

+Daniel Santos; you want to blame a girl who was screwed up by the tormenter she eventually had killed. That daughter was not safe for much longer and society had failed her. She had no incentive to follow an ethical code towards people who were unethical to her. If she gets treated like an animal in prison then it would be fair game for her to act like an animal in retaliation towards those abusers. It's shameful that another human as you would denigrate this poor fellow earthling for her desperate choice. Plus the conditions are not the same now. She can finally speak her mind to others and not be so estranged as to see no other choice but to murder a censoring captor who administers poison regularly and was even liable to murder that daughter in time to hide the truth and escape justice. Gypsy is a hero as much as a military veteran. One less terrorist in our midst thanks to her and Nick.

If ANYONE deserves to get off on a "not guilty by reason of insanity" plea, it's this poor woman! I don't know how a jury could see fit to lock this young woman up for a decade when she clearly snapped after a LIFETIME of being abused and poisoned in order to fund her mother's scams. Gypsy should have been sent to a psychiatric hospital to help her cope with her abusive past and learn to live a normal life. She clearly isn't a danger to the general public and it's outrageous that she's locked up alongside hardened criminals.

I’m so torn on this whole thing. Nobody should be butchered to death but no “mother” should be allowed to get away with 1/10 of what that horrible deedee did. I really really feel like some actual therapy would have been a better choice than 10 years in prison. I know at least at one time Dr. Phil was in support of a reduced sentence for Gypsy, although in his podcast he seemed to put way more blame on Godejohn, and I’m not sure if he ever mentioned his autism or not. It’s a horrible story any which way you look, and the fact that deedee’s own siblings didn’t want her ashes? She must have been an evil piece of work from day one.

Gypsy was raised thinking no one would help her, she grew up on Disney where the hero kills the villains for the Princess. She should have gotten the mental help she needed. The drugs, even without the mental and physical abuse would make her detached from reality. That poor girl. Deedee should have had to stand trial. Its a shame she chose murder to escape. This is such a difficult case.

I didn't even think about the movie thing, but that's actually a good point. She had hardly any education besides the children's programs she would watch on TV. She didn't have much in the way of learning a more complicated morality system beyond this. In many of those programs, the prince saves the girl. She convinced Nick to be her hero in shining armor and it's really sad that both of their lives end up being wasted due to lack of leniency.

Agree 100% that one of the great tragedies of this case is that Dee Dee never had the chance to be tried & convicted (hopefully very harshly, IMO) for the literal lifetime of abuse & torture to which she subjected her helpless daughter. Her death prevented gypsy from ever truly receiving the justice she so badly deserved. Also, I agree about the Disney-fication of Gypsy's worldview. She was raised to sincerely believe in an ostensible world in which the hero always rescues the captive princess-in-distress and then ultimately triumphs over the villain, whereupon the two of them live happily ever after in an ideal romantic fantasy: the end, roll credits. This relentlessly imposed worldview most likely left her without either a rational, functional moral compass or the capacity to conceptualize any real-world consequences of her actions. I think her entire life with Dee Dee can be summed up by the psychological concept of "learned helplessness." The whole thing is immeasurably unjust & tragic in so many ways, on so many levels.

The problem with Casey Anthony was that the state made the wrong charges and therefore could not prove them. I fully blame the states attorney for her getting off. How can you prove 1st degree murder in a case where you can not prove how someone died. And when there is ANY doubt, the jury is required by law to find a person not guilty. The state should have changed Anthony with, disposing of the childs body and possibly neglect that resulted in death. But they over reached due to public opinion and outrage. Had they charged her with what they could prove, she would still be in prison today. Where she belongs. After throwing her baby away like so much trash.

Have two feeding tubes (one into my stomach, one into my intestines) and they are torturous. Placing a tube into the intestines is an extremely hard surgery, and placing one into the stomach isn’t near as difficult but is extremely painful. Feeding tubes are usually held in by a balloon which can be inflated and deflated from the outside. For a stomach tube, they deflate it pull the old tube out, put the new one in, inflate the balloon and send you on your way. This is done every 4-6 months. They usually leak quite a bit and your stomach acid eats your skin. An intestinal tube is much more extensive and difficult to change. Usually done under live x-ray and the doctor uses a guide wire to get the tube down to into the intestines and to lay correctly. Tubes suck. I can’t imagine having to deal with them and all the pain and trouble they cause when you don’t need them and know you don’t.

I saw a Documentary and interview with Dee Dees parents who stated even as a child she was into occult, manipulation but managed to fool many people. There should be a Law against these types of people to not allow them to breed, or take care of children or relationships because all they intend is to destroy. This b*** excuse my language, is everything OPPOSE a Mother should be..... Gypsy is a very, very brave girl. few would have lasted as much as she did with everything she has been through x God Bless her and I hope she has the best. The same story and similar stories have Children who come from NPD Narcisism parents and Cluster Bs. they should be tested before having children. Congrats to Gypsy

I do believe the prosecution were a little bit too confident & I believe they made a mistake going for first degree murder (did they ask for the death penalty too?) if I were on the jury I don’t think I could have sent her to death row with the evidence shown, but she should have gotten jail time for child endangerment at least! The whole story of her father abusing her was utter rubbish, in my opinion. Anyhoo, back to Gypsy, I agree, I feel terrible for her and Nick, I don’t think either of them had the mental capacity to truly understand what they were doing, gypsy was reeling from years of abuse & Nick wanted to help, neither of them should have to face what was done as adults, mentally they aren’t adults It’s just so sad ❤️

Of course there are some people that are incapable of reformation and incarceration is the only solution for that subset of the population. @Honey D Rehab for only having a kindergartner education, being heavily drugged for over half her life, and being severely abused. Gypsy didn't even know her real age, and she had no way to get out of her situation since everyone thought she had brain trauma. No one's saying she isn't guilty of the crime or justifying it in any sense, they just don't want Gypsy to suffer her entire life from a mistake that she wasn't in the right mindset to properly think out.
@feodorawicked5014
@feodorawicked5014 4 жыл бұрын
@Honey D Except for the fact that she was very much physically abused. The one time she tried to escape her mother chained her to a bed for two weeks. She'd beat her, hit her with weapons, and slap her. She was heavily medicated and even went through cancer treatments, which are aggressive and already weaken a person's body. Also, even if she did manage to somewhat educate herself, it was nearly close to the level of which she should've had, and the excuse of "she could've educate herself" is BS because Dee Dee was very protective and kept close watch on her. Not only that, but that's going off the idea that a person with that regressed of a mind state would even be able to educate herself properly in the first place. No matter what your excuse is, Gypsy was basically being held hostage and was not in the right mind state to make rational decisions. No one is saying that Gypsy is innocent of murder. People just want her to receive the education she deserves and the mental help she deserves. None of which can be adequately provided whilst in prison. There are plenty of cases in which people commit murder and are given the treatment that they need instead of just rotting in a prison cell. Society as a whole failed Gypsy, she literally had no other choice at that point, and it was likely that Dee Dee was eventually going to kill her. God the lengths some people go through to victim blame.
@feodorawicked5014
@feodorawicked5014 4 жыл бұрын
@Honey D Taking a bunch of over the counter medication is also extremely bad. Mixing medications can be harmful. There's no evidence that suggests that Gypsy is lying about anything, we're taking her word over the mother who literally starved her mother to death. And, once again, "educating herself pretty well" is a BS statement since you literally can't expect someone who stopped having a proper education in kindergarten to be able to educate herself even close to properly. Also, it's a bit ironic you're telling me to keep to the facts when part of your argument is going off your own intuition and what you think. Unless you have any evidence to prove Dee Dee wasn't abusive, then most people will side with the person claiming it. You're literally downplaying the extreme trauma a situation like this would cause, and downplaying the effects of various OTC medications can do when abused.

her situation was basically kill or be killed...if she wouldn't have done anything Dee Dee would've eventually killed Gypsy.

I see it as self defense. She totally was taken hostage. If someone had a child and kept them in a cage and the child got out and killed had parent it would be self defense. That's how I see this

hailey baker - sorry this is kinda late since i recently stumbled upon this video- but self defense is only reasonable when the person is in immediate threat in that moment in time. if she didn't have a knife to her throat or gun to her head it wasn't self defense, and especially not if she sent someone to do the dirty work for her. nonetheless, her sick mother is beyond evil. that word holds no power to all the actions she's done to the people around her.

She did. She definitely, did. The little girl was heavily abused and could’ve been dead if she wouldn’t have gotten away. Of course being stabbed is not the way to go but... to be heavily abused and used for money and treated differently, to then find out that your mother lied to you your whole life and used you for money and could’ve killed you.
