I have a friend who lives about a mile from Don & Candus, and this is what she is saying. 1. Candus is a known drug addict and her drugs of choice are heroin and meth, but crack will suffice if meth isn't available. 2. The 'true' reason that Candus, Summer, and all 3 boys had their heads shaved is because they had lice so badly, but were so uncared for, that they chose to shave their heads. Apparently Summer was devastated to have her head shaved, worried that she couldn't wear bows and clips in her hair if it was shaved, but Don kept shaving it to prevent a reoccurrence. 3. Don was accused of rape (incest) by his sister who alleges that it happened her entire childhood. He denies this. However, Summer would do certain things when she was around other men that was wildly inappropriate for a 5 year old girl to do. These actions are typical of small children that are being sexually assaulted by a man, and he fits the profile. 4. Don is a very aggressive, violent man. He would beat his children when they did anything he didn't like, and it was known by everyone who knew this family. That is part of the reason the boys were taken by Child Protective Services. Another reason was... 5. Their house was filthy. You see how nasty it was during an interview? Apparently that is immaculate compared to how filthy it was prior to this happening. The police department is the one who reported the state of the house to CPS and they acted immediately. This is just some of what I've been told, and it really paints a picture. I feel confident that they are 100% responsible for what happened to Summer. They are pathetic and disgusting.

one of the issues i have is that…what does a grown woman have in common with a 15 year old boy? why do they call and text each other and hang out regularly like that? she’s like twice his age and she hangs out with him like they’re besties. then i was like oh maybe he wanted to hang out with Summer but she’s five years old. a 15 year old and a 5 year old wouldn’t have anything in common either. the relationships don’t add up at all.

Ehhh, I sort of got the vibe that Candice and Hunter had more of an "aunt and nephew" type of relationship. They are close family friends, and she still wanted to keep that relationship even though she had fallen out with his mother because she considered Hunter as a son. This is honestly pretty normal, at least in small town country settings.

As someone who grew up with an alcoholic father and an physically impaired mother, I can say this with absolute certainty. Even if they truly *tried* to be the best parents possible to their four kids while being addicts (which I seriously doubt), those children would end up being neglected in one way or another, if not abused. These parents are 100% being dishonest about what life was like before Summer’s disappearance, which makes it all the more likely they’re lying about what happened *during* her disappearance. I feel awful for those poor kids, and I really don’t trust either of them. It’s all just pretty damn shady.

I find it extremely odd how the mother swears her daughter was abducted but she thought it was a good idea to send her three sons (WHO ARE MINORS) to the woods alone when, according to her, there’s a person abducting children nearby. Like what kind of mother feels comfortable leaving her other children alone immediately after one of them gets abducted? A mother wouldn’t let them out of her sight.

Summer's mother Candace said she had called her husband Don as soon as Summer went missing (on her own phone) then after Don told her to hang up and call 911, she threw her own phone and went to get her mother "Candy's" phone to call 911 because AT&T is the only company that gets service at their house? She was just on the phone with Don, how on earth was she on her own phone if it doesn't get service there? This story just doesn't add up at all. The fact that a grown woman is hanging out with a 15 year old boy, giving him alcohol and vapes. The planting of "flowers" directly "before" the disappearance of Summer. How has the flowers not been dug up during investigations?

I think lice is likely, but lice isn't in and of itself a sign of neglect. Lice are very contagious, one kid in a class gets it and all it takes is a hug to spread it. It doesn’t sit well with me that while her son is being interviewed about a missing little child, that woman was sitting there with her belly hanging out, rolling her eyes at him, and texting on her phone. Fat people don't have to hide our bodies just because it makes other people like yourself uncomfortable. So basically you're saying anyone over a size 2 should never be able to wear a tank top or a shorts or anything because god forbid someone see their belly? Meanwhile I see people who are a size 00 walking around with their entire ass hanging out on a daily basis. And where was that woman supposed to put her stomach exactly? She's a large woman her stomach isn't going anywhere if someone has a problem with it that's their problem. And she wasn't texting the whole time while her son was being interviewed. There's other clips and through almost all of them she was just sitting there listening. Her phone went off in one of them and she happened to answer it so what? But I guess she doesn't have any respect or decency because you don't like how she looks.

Paranoid neighbors who don't want land searched. Typical. If you got more than a dozen dogs, one will always be barking so you become earblind to it. But the drug activity around the area is troubling. Not sure if I trust the 15 year old entirely but who knows. I need more information. I’m definitely suspicious of Hunter. The way he behaves during this video is so odd. If Summer is like a little sister to him, how is he so happy and humorous in the interview about her missing? He teases his mom giving her a hard time about answering his call finally, he brags about being a “tech guy”, and is able to laugh. I also think it’s weird no one is more focused on Hunter lying about the phone call Candace had- it seems to me like he is trying to make a suspect for people to look at. Why didn’t they ask him why his version of the phone call doesn’t match Candace or Dons? He also suggests her lungs are injured by the water after getting out of it. Candice actually says in a few other interviews “I walked back over to my mom’s trailer” after walking Summer to their house when she wanted to go inside. I think it was just a miscommunication in the 911 call between Candice and the dispatcher or between 2 dispatchers when relaying the information. Something about Hunter gives me the absolute creeps. The way he talks in his interview is giving “its cool to be so close to this famous event” or like he’s trying to make candus seem super involved. Especially the part where he talks about what he overheard on the phone call to Don. Saying that “there was a guy on their property walking around and wanting to touch the kids” and when the reporter asks him to clarify what touch means he plays dumb and says “idk to hug them?” Something about that struck me as very odd. A 15 year old doesn’t know what it means when we say that someone “touches children”? As if he’s trying to act like he doesn’t know what the significance of that phone call would have meant if it were true. If anything, I don’t think what he’s saying happened is true, I think he’s trying to have his 15 minutes of fame

I just want to point something out because I had a FAMILY member go “MISSING” once. My BROTHER. He’s special needs/nonverbal autistic and mentally disabled. I was watching him one early Saturday morning. We were out front on the porch. I had to go to the bathroom which was about 20 feet away from the front door. I left the front door open and the bathroom door open so I can listen to him. I was in the bathroom not more than 60 seconds. I go back outside and he’s gone. I search the sides of the house, the back yard, inside the house. Nothing. I’m seriously panicking. I run down to one end of the street then the other, looking everywhere in case he wandered off. 20 minutes later I called the cops. I then called my mom sobbing telling her what’s happening and she says “what are you talking about? His part time Saturday caretaker picked him up. She said she popped her head in and yelled that she was there and took him” I was livid. The caretaker either lied about announcing herself or I simply didn’t hear her. So it is entirely possible to be in close proximity and not hear a dang thing.

Agreed. I live in the woods and I am not sure I would register the sounds someone would make moving through the woods. There is so much natural noise in nature it would drown out a human walking. I was thinking this as well. There is a case that happened recently in Australia where a little girl was abducted from a camp site. The perpetrator unzipped the tent and lifted the child out in a sleeping bag without anyone waking up. At first my mind couldn’t make sense of it, but the more I think about it the more I realise that the child’s parents weren’t expecting her to go missing. I reckon we pass abnormal things off ALL the time without even realising it.

It takes a lot of money and effort to get rid of lice with one or two people but in a house with several people, it's horrible, especially if you keep having to do it over and over. At my elementary they don't send kids home if they have lice anymore because it doesn't have significant health impacts (that's the explanation I was told anyway). That's a real hardship on disabled people and poor people because, although the policy makes the risk higher for everyone, they don't have the same resources to fix it

One thing I'll say, being a Tennessee native... the law/emergency responders DO take forever to get anywhere. The emt service was literally down the road from my grandparents house. The day she died, we had called them to get her. It took them over 45 minutes to get to the house. Said they got lost... just going down the road. Yes, this is what we deal with in Tennessee, as I'm sure other places might too. My grandmother wouldn't have died that day, had they not "got lost"..

In her reading she goes into descriptions of local landmarks that may be familiar to locals. She also describes appearances of certain locals in that area.. Two things that stood out in this case: the parents refer to their daughter in the past tense in the interview at the beginning, which could be a red flag. Also, they report her missing, within 10 minutes of discovering that she isn't in the basement. Wouldn't they search for awhile first. Also, they immediately jump to the conclusion that she was abducted. This seems unlikely, because how would the abductor know that she was in the basement? Also, it's an isolated property, that isn't easily accessible. If I was the police, I would verify the timelines, by looking at CCTV in the stores, or talking to the employees. Then I would look at the cell phone records to figure out when the calls were made, and what text messages were sent and when. Once you have a verified timeline, then you can confront the inconsistencies in the stories. The family is key to this case...that's my gut instinct.

When the dad says it was getting out of control, I don’t think he was saying summers hair was out of control, but that summer trying to constantly shave her own hair was out of control so the parents decided to shave it themselves. As a kid I kept cutting chunks out of my hair and my mom would have to even it out despite her wishes. I think this is the same thing. It isn’t two different stories, it’s just misunderstanding what the dad is saying IMO.

I really don’t think the parents had anything to do with it. What if Hunter walked to their house to continue hanging out with them, saw Summer outside and walked away with her. There’s something not right about him. A similar thing happened to my 4 year old son. We were out in the front yard when our pizza was delivered. I took it inside and told him and my older daughter to come inside. My older daughter came in but not my son. I asked my daughter where he brother was. She said he was in the yard. I went out to get him and he was all the way down out street about to go into a wooded area with a neighbor boy who was 14 years old! I ram down and got him. I told the boy you’re too old to be with a 4 year old and told him not to play with my kids again. It happened so fast. That’s why I believe it is possibly that that’s what happened.

Why’s no one sad over this girl vanishing…. Hunter doesn’t seem phased, the parents don’t seem too upset, the house looks hoarded and filthy so I’m assuming neglect was going on? This is so tragic 💔

As someone who has a family member who neglects to properly care for her children, I fully believe they shaved her head because of lice and not wanting to properly treat her hair with medicated shampoos. My cousin has done this to her little girls on multiple occasions and it is sad. For some girls, their hair is their livelihood and taking it away can be like a form of mental abuse. In my cousin’s case, CPS has been called multiple times and they do nothing every time. I haven’t even finished the video, but I just get so heated hearing this! 😞

Shaving your head doesn't get rid of lice either. These garbage can people couldn't bother to keep the kid clean and prioritize drugs. Sterilize them all.

I really think the parents know what happened. The way they are so detailed with the account of events makes me thinking they are lying. And their drug and substance abuse and Candace hanging out with a 15 year old boy and texting is so odd to me. They neglected that poor baby

I’ve seen parents have that relationship with teens and nothing sexual ever happened or was discussed it was strictly parental relationship and they texted the kids too, there was nothing gross about it I knew the adult and I knew the kid and read all the messages ,

@@emilywarden1979 naw in this sense it’s more like she’s the cool mom who will give you drugs. It kind of reminds me of the adults that were around bonzi. Please go look up the case because man lord of similarities in the actions of the adults in this case.

She looked really skinny in one of those pics in the beginning. Like around her shoulders and chest. She looks kinda emaciated.

@@emilywarden1979 yeah it’s weird because now that I’m an adult, I find it odd. However, as a child even as young as 10, I have always gotten along with and had friendships with adults. They were never inappropriate with me, never anything out of the ordinary. I can only compare it to myself and my niece. We are 13 years apart but have a very close relationship and are like friends/sisters. But I mean..she’s my niece so that’s pretty typical.

Hell ya we are. I live here in Hawkins co. And it's still all on everyone's minds and hearts. It's just insane how no more evidence or truth or whatever come out that it has. Just crazy how much has come out but seemingly nothing has happened. Even tho don was arrested on Halloween for dui . It's just insane. Ready for answers for sure
