The thing that baffles me the most is their reasoning: “we just didn’t like her” like what???? What does that even mean?? How does that justify wanting to murder someone?? I think skylars mom hit the nail on the head when she said it was mental illness and jealousy because that’s just insane

I agree, like theres people i dont like but that doesnt mean im gonna go kill them especially at that age you have soooo much a head of you and basically ruined because you killed someone you didn't like..... I dint understand why they couldnt have just told skylar that they didnt want to be friends with her anymore. Would have been better than being in prison. But i guess it was a mental health issue that they had like you said.

My mother was murdered by a serial killer in 1980 on the Oregon coast. I grew up with some pretty accute anger problems. When I got older I went surfing for the first time. I kept going because it brought me peace. I eventually moved to the coast from Portland and made it a point to surf every day until my anger was vanquished. In my thirties I decided to look into the then unsolved case of my mom's death. When I got her death certificate to start the process I was absolutely floored to discover that my beach, the first one I ever surfed at and went to daily for healing was the very one where they discovered her mangled body. I still make a pilgrimage every year to visit the most beautiful place I've ever laid my eyes on to play in her water. Her killer was later found and died in prison while serving a life sentence...of cancer. Just felt like saying all this to total strangers for my continued healing. I'm not at ALL here for clicks and likes. Don't even reply. I ask only one thing.... Go out there and be greatful for your lives. No matter how hard it is. You got this.

I love her Mom’s spirit. I honestly don’t know where her Dad would be without it. I’m sure he would be in a very dark place. She can still joke and giggle, while his anger is etched so heavy on his soul he can’t even smile. She’s a light in his darkness, but you can still see how deep her pain goes. I just think it’s beautiful that her heart is big enough to hold them both together.

I know it’s just a superficial coincidence, but I find it really bizarre how a lot of the case follows the same story beats as the Slenderman Stabbing: - A teenager was lured into the woods and ambushed by two other girls who were considered her “friends.” - The victim received numerous stab wounds from both girls, though one seemed to be more in control of the situation than the other. - Even after their arrest, the sanity of both perpetrators was repeatedly brought into question. The only major differences between the two cases were the motive, the likelihood of mental illness being involved, and of course how Peyton managed to survive her attack while Skylar wasn’t so lucky.

I think I remember watching about that one, weren't they around 12 and 13? They were walking down the road covered in blood when an officer pulled up and detained them. Their excuse was something to do with a slenderman (something like that) belief they had and they had to make a sacrifice to him? The 3 had a sleepover the night before for one of the girls bdays and they took knives from her kitchen, talked her into going to a park nearby. Maybe I'm thinking of another case but the one that I'm thinking of, the girl that was attacked survived. She was also stabbed many times. That story hit hard for me because my daughter is 13 and I always worry about others having ill intentions, my daughter is the most loving and caring kid, always wanting and willing to help and fix situations for anyone, be that shoulder to cry on and just be there for them, her heart is so huge! It hurts her when she sees someone hurting, she always feel the need to make it better so to speak! I just worry about others taking advantage of her and her special qualities and big heart. These stories just break my heart, I will never understand how someone can hurt another person especially children!

She even believed at one point she would get immunity. The one thing I can say about Sheilia is that she didn’t insult the Neese families intelligence by pretending that she was sorry and didn’t understand the gravity of her actions. Rachel playing this “holier than thou” character and acting like she was led a stray by Sheila is utter nonsense. She had the most to lose if Skylar made it public Sheilia and her were sleeping together. Her church family judging her, her parents judging her, her boyfriend dumping her. Would not surprise me at all if it was all Rachel’s idea to begin with.

I lived with a narcissist for a few months. Took me awhile to piece it together, but once you know what it is (on a psychological level, not a name-calling level), you can detect it when the right situation presents itself. I find the understanding also helps in picking out manipulation tactics and reasons in non-narcissists. It was a hard lesson, but a valuable one. And, oddly after that, I stopped being so shy. It's like being better at reading these cues gave me more confidence in others, be they mostly good or mostly bad.

I went to high school with these girls. Was in anatomy class with Shelia. I ended up moving away because I was bullied so bad there from being the new girl. And my parents were afraid to keep me there because of the Murders that happened. That’s not the first that happened at UHS. It was a nice school too!!! Sad story, Skylar went missing the summer I moved there. After Christmas break Shelia didn’t come back because she was being investigated and all our classmates suspected.

I genuinely think Rachel will walk next year at her parole. Even though she is clearly as guilty as Shelia (let's not forget who chose the exact date for the murder and who tackled Skylar to the ground as she tried to run) but she confessed, pleaded, assisted police, apparantly is a role model prisoner without citations, got married, and has at least one therapist and church leader on her side. There is also a persistent belief that Shelia was the mastermind behind the crime and Rachel was a subordinate, submissive, almost controlled accomplice. That's a lot she has going for her. I am sure Mr. Neese will do his best to keep this c*nt in jail but I fear she will walk.

There are other versions of this story that basically say that Rachel and Sheila were in a sexual relationship and Rachel feared her parents finding out because they were super religious and would have made her go no contact with Sheila, maybe taken her to one of those terrible boarding schools etc. So that was the motive. And these are also teenage brains, not brains that have the appropriate balance of risk and cognition. Not to defend what they did, as it is still so unnecessary. But I think there was possibly more to the story.

Sheila was always jealous of Skylar. She had a better home life and seemed like she had a clear path to what she wanted for her future. Kendall! Girlfriend, I have always enjoyed each story you bring us. You feel like an old friend to so many of us. I also noticed - you have 3.4 MILLION followers! And that is due to your complete relatability, your kindness and huge heart. Happy Holidays to you and everyone. My heart aches for Neese family, forever young, forever loved and missed. A truly bright spirit & source of light that even in death, will never be dimmed. Thanks for another well put together and carefully told story.

There's guys on Twitter who make fan accounts for Sheila, arguing that she should be free and blaming Skylar for what happened. Saying Skylar deserved it. It makes me so sick and I wish Twitter would ban those accounts.

You should report it and twitter can be able to ban them from twitter.

just Googled it and you're right, these people are sickos who think she should be released from prison because all she did was make a "mistake", best case is they were friends of hers or/and people with Hybristophilia (sexual attraction to murderers)

I feel like Sheila’s mom Tara should have gotten charged because she CLEARLY knew what they had done or knew they had done something because she tried protecting Sheila. Like wtf???

If I'm not mistaken Shelia's mom ultimately handed her over to the cops after taking her daughter out to lunch one last time. Whether or not she wasn't charged because she ended up cooperating, I have no idea, but that had to have been hard as fuck.
