I have no problem with them doing what they want but the commercialisation of death has gotten to the point where the living relatives feel they have to go into debt to properly mourn a loved one who has passed. It’s therefore incredibly disingenuous to frame what is simply a commercial enterprise as some sort of new mourning ritual.

It's a lovely idea and obviously incredibly emotional for the people involved. But it's not actually TRUE. Cremation burns at 1500 degrees and that breaks down the carbon in your body. There is nothing in the ashes to grow a diamond from. The diamond they grow is 100% from the EXTRA carbon they add to the ashes before they start. To be clear: In the finished diamond there's not a single atom of your loved one's physical body. Big Think are really hurting their own reputation if they promote something like this. Is it worth it? Do some googling. It's a shame it's not real, otherwise I would do this when my parents pass. Also, it's expensive as hell: starting at $3000US and up to $10k.

So atoms of carbon are actually destroyed at 1500 Celsius? What constituen parts do they fall apart to? You mean that the electrons are ripped apart from the nucleus of carbon, or does it go further and the nucleus falls apart into quarks?
@Company-593 жыл бұрын
Captain here: To grow diamonds you need carbon from special areas in the world. Brazil is known to have the best. If you ask scientists in the know of how to grow diamonds, they will tell you that you can add up to 3% of human ashes carbon to the mixture so the human carbon is not keeping the good stuff to grow into a diamond. The resulting diamond has no human carbon in it. Never. If you’d want to get more information and get in contact to non-affiliated scientists, message me. We will find a way to communicate. Press or attorneys or law enforcement only.
