We had a lot of solar power and always took 20 gallons of extra water over what our rig held. If anyone came in and parked within sight of us we packed up and hit the road. A couple of times we left at two or three in the morning. 95% of the time everything ran fine, but we did have some run ins with nutty people, but each time our dog set them straight and sent them packing, or looking for help. He was well trained and very obedient, but very dangerous. That's one nice rig you have.

Well at least you were able to back your extra-long rig out of your site despite not being able to go forward....Most all RV parks are not designed for a long large RV that has any type of motorized vehicle pulling the RV or pulling a large toad behind them. The big RV owners won't find much real space unless you invest in a luxury RV resort where you own the site and have the $$$$$ to throw around for your RV, By the way you have a beautiful set up right down to the tiny smart car on the tractor - very clever! I manage a small older (1960's) RV park down in WIllcox Arizona and I can safely park a 45' diesel pusher with either a toad or a trailer on the back end, in my 50 amp pull-thru sites, but it's gonna be a full spot with a 90 degree left hand turn with zero room to spare until you hit the chain link fence as you pull forward to exit. It just takes going slow and having a spotter, and it's an easy thing to get back on the road again. I have never had anyone complain about the tight fit or damage from running into anything so I guess the sites are long enough! Enjoy your stay at lake Mead while the water still exists because something tells me that it may be history by 2050, if not sooner. Willcox is on one of the last natural sweet aquifers left in the state (water from the tap is delicious, no filtering needed) but all of the large agricultural farms in this area are sucking it dry as we speak, which is heartbreaking. It's mostly to water cattle grains, corn, Pistachios, wine grape orchards, etc. Actually, the Vineyards in this area have award winning wines that beat out California and French wines year after year with more vineyards popping up all the time due to the micro-climate here. Personally I'd rather drink clean fresh water than wine any day of the week!

My wife and I (both retired) have been out in Southwest for 3 months and you guys must be stalking us because youi are going to many of the spots we have done after we did them!!! 😉 We were at Death Valley the day a few weeks ago when it was raining hard that allowed you to kayak there, after which we were in the Las Vegas area (Boulder City) for a month and did a LOT of hiking there, including Valley of Fire twice which allowed us to do most all of the hikes there-- Gorgeous piece of God's creation!!! HOWEVER-- you guys got the EASY version of the 7 Wonders loop. We went a few days after the heavy rains had hit Death Valley and the Nevada area, so the SLOT CANYONS you nicely just walked through were all filled with water and we all had to bushwack up the side cliffs to bypass the flooded slots. I learn so much from your videos, and it all fires my imagination. "Valley of Fire," "Poverty Flats," and "Maverick Saves Us 2 Cents" sound like names of Johnny Cash songs. Who knew: - there was a national day for meatballs? God bless us all on National Meatball Day!.😊 - Lake Mead was once lakeside dwelling? Now it's overrun by poopy asses and wild cattle. No bull!!😂 - there was so much wildlife to be photographed in Fire State Park? Every missed opportunity makes you say, "Gosh darn it."😂 - part of being on the 7 Wonders Trail was wandering as you wondered what the 7 wonders were? The trail is littered with ironic signs. - being outdoors could inspire so many Dad jokes? Sondra was "lichen" it, and "you rock," David! Just so you know, I reference your videos in my Transformative Education sessions. Last Fall we boondocked a couple weeks at the other end of Lake Mead by Government Wash. We camped on the edge of an escarpment, here: 36.12518, -114.8358. We enjoyed our stay and the many visits to Henderson and Vegas. I like the gas struts on your array. Our small 620w side array is liftable (with gas strut assist too), but our 4,400w rooftop array is fixed. I didn't want to climb on the roof of our coach to lift panels at my age. Though we look to be close in age (I just turned 68 today), you two appear to be in much better shape than us. There's no way my wife could have put that ramp out like yours did, kudos to Sandra! Our 35ft Class A is a lot smaller than your rig so our rooftop array, which is 15" off the roof, shades our entire roof, allowing a cool breeze underneath for less heat load on our A/Cs. Our AT&T Wi-Fi worked great at Govt. Wash. Not to rub it in, but the thing about boondocking in a lighter rig like ours is that we haven't got stuck yet, in the last 6 yrs. FT, boondocking in some pretty iffy places. In fact, we've been living completely off-grid for the last 18 months. We sure love the freedom our solar gives us and I'm sure you feel the same. We saw a couple coyotes, bighorn sheep and a few partridges at Govt. Wash, but no burros, and that's no bull. We didn't do Valley of Fire because they don't take America the Beautiful Pass like the Lake Mead Rec. Area does, and we're cheap. What can I say? After giving very generous donations to the one-armed bandits in Lost Wages, we were in low budget mode till we left. Seriously though, I think the buffets took as much of our money as the slots, but we're not complaining. We enjoyed hiking Valley of Fires vicariously through your video though. You saved us 15 bucks plus getting hot and sweaty. Thanks.

So glad it wasn't Bull.....Love that spot and glad you are there when Lake Meade has much more water in it. Speaking of Lake Meade, we have one, of many, lakes called Lake Meade in good ole' Suffolk VA. It's fairly big but nothing that size. Gotta get back and finish this! Well, thank you for the natural beauty as usual (even the slots) but it looks like another axle needs to have it's own drive gears? I'm sure the rear one's pulled you out of that, but I'll have to wait and see....you cliffhanger lovers!

😆 🤣 there were hints early in the video, KB... but we thought it would be funny! Glad you enjoyed it... may be another "hanger" next week. We had two interesting weeks on the road!

New subscriber, as seeing the Spacecraft & Volvo, I thought it was Todd & Sheila in theirs, but then saw 'Valley of Fire' and thought I'd watch, so thanks for the uplifting video! Having driven many a Volvo rigs, and most every other brand on the market, it made me feel good sitting in the seat with Sondra holding the camera! Some years back, a group of us (4 couples) drove from home (western Canada) down to Utah, with our ATV's in the Moab area, and did some long day exploring on our quads, having seen LOTS of red rock, and it's beauty. Lots of slot canyons, sand, cactus...but no Burro's or wild cows! We have many memories, as we toured down there four different times in Utah, and that was back with our F450 dually, Arctic Fox slide in camper and pulling our 18' enclosed trailer. We've moved to a Class A Tiffin now, so we spend more time in southern Arizona now, splurging on some RV resort time, and enjoying all the amenities. We still love to hike, and I very much have enjoyed Photography for decades, so I get some long walks in the desert in, when time allows, and this year the desert was very 'green' with all the winter rains, and not as many flowers as last year. Soon hope to go with the same group over to check out souther South Dakota, see the Teton's, Yellowstone and Glacier National park. As I'm sure you've seen, the diesel prices in some locations is crazy expensive, with California being ridiculous, so we rarely travel through that state any more unfortunately. Nonetheless, I'll be catching your video's from time to time now, and see what direction you're taking from one place to the next. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for finding us. Those are great trips. We volunteered for 4 months in Yellowstone and thoroughly enjoyed it. We couldn't believe how green the desert was this year. Thanks for the comments and safe travels this year.

We found Valley of Fire during a Vegas trip. Beautiful area, and who knew so close to the madness on The Strip. Hope you "Shale" return sometime soon! (groan). Travel safe, and I'll watch for the next one. Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL

Very nice Video! Boondocking is the only way to go! I have been Boondocking full-time for the past 40 plus years and avoid campgrounds, campsites of any type like the plaque. There just no respect for others anymore like there use to be. I don't like to be in eyesight of other neighbors or people because of the crazy things they do like you have mentioned in your video. Really like Your Rig and RV. Keep up the great job enjoying life out there. Stay safe and God Bless.🙏🏻👍

Thanks. We prefer the solitude of dry camping too but sometimes we need to be in hook ups.

If possible, always try to fuel up in the early morning because the fuel is colder and always fuel up around half tank. When your fueling always use the slowest click and never fuel fast. Trust me you will get more fuel for your money. You can research it, I hope this helps.

Those front tire issues are tough. I've had a few of them, back when I was a single rear drive. Hopefully your dual tandems had enough bite and you dug enough ramp for the front to gently rise. Would Coach Net come all the way out there?
@bigtruckbigtravels7 ай бұрын
Possibly but we were off the road... none in the area... very uneven ground as well. Helps to disengage traction control... which we didn't!

About the sign, you are not disobeying what is stated, it only says you are not on the trail, it's doesn't say that you can't explore further, not even any mention of danger, apart from getting lost I suppose. Awesome videos, I must watch more, thanks for sharing.

Just found your video. We love camping but have not been able to go for quite a few years because of taking care of sick elderly parent. I think we are heading out west maybe in September. On your hiking you did what kind of distance was that you walked probably. We have a Country Coach an it needs to be used 😂😂. Enjoyed your experience in this trip . I will start watching your other videos. Thanks
