The puck stops there. In some states men who find out years later that their kid isn't theirs are required to pay for child support. It is the most ridiculous laws I've ever heard. I feel bad to the son, like go f off with that LEGAL BS. I've been raising my nephew since 15. My sister is a scumbag and tried to take him away while all doped up. If she, for any reason, goes for assistance from the state or feds they will force you to pay support through them and possibly back date starting from the time you separated. In court, support that has not gone through them does not count. Best of luck, I've gone through something similar.

And in most states if you play "dad" to a kid for years...you are considered dad. period. That kid only knows him as "dad" so sure just dump him like an unwanted puppy or.....file for sole custody of both kids. problem solved

Meaning he sometimes makes payments for a kid that's not in his life, otherwise he would've wrote he doesn't make any payments. Kids, especially sons, need that. Being a father figure is more important than money, when kids don't have that they usually end up a little fucked. I disagree with Bill here. I've always thought as a man who ends up being separated from the mother of your kids and kids that you should want to go through the court system to make sure that you are doing enough for your kid financially. The only reason not to would be so that you don't have to pay as much to the kid which seems like B's to me. And if he really wants to raise the kid as his own go ahead and adopt him. I don't think he should have to raise the kid as his own but he said the he wanted to and if that's the case I think he shouldve already went all the way and adopted him. I feel like this is kind of a he wants his cake and eat it too situation. Maybe I'm wrong but idk
