People really need to stop putting the emphasis on race all the time. I’m so with people like Burr, Freeman and Washington. I feel like we did a 180 ten years ago. What happened to we are all human and we are equal. Treat each other with respect. The actual problem is poverty. You will be 3 steps behind people who didn’t experience it. You miss the know how to get ahead, the right connections, the lingo, the financial stability (fight or flight, scarcity mindset). That is the real issue

Grew up in a racially diverse neighborhood. I am white/Italian. Friends with blacks, Cubans, Spanish. We did not dwell on race. 1970 they started bussing . We were bussed to an school where the kids were financially better off. I learned that people look down on you because of your financial standing. Instead of walking to my school I had to walk. If I got sick mama had to take off work to pick me up. No having friends from school come to the house.

British has best female comedians.
@faust823 күн бұрын
I think perhaps britain has slightly different growth conditions compared to the US, with more room for comedic actors outside of a straight-up comedy or sitcom. They play more in the gray areas where it all hinges on finesse and timing rather than being able to read a line to a laugh track. There's also the panel show circuit, which appears to be completely missing in the US, where a mix of storytelling ability, quickfire wit and ad-lib comments come into play. In the US, I feel you either make it up through the stand-up circuit, or you're pretty enough to land a romantic comedy to get you past the gate. That is changing now that Hollywood producers no longer has the final say on who makes it though. Social media has provided a new path for those that don't fit into the old molds, and they're coming through. That being said; Sarah Millican. She is a beast on all fronts. She's hilarious, no matter the setting. Great at stand-up, awesome in the panel shows and on the radio. Not much acting from her, but I'm sure she'd be good at that too.

Female comedians: Carol Burnett, of course. Also, I remember unexpectedly guffawing out loud over a stand-up routine by Joan Rivers, because she shocked me!! Joan was one of those who would say something so shocking. (The instance I remember is her saying how much she loved one of her dearest friends, Elizabeth Taylor, but that Liz's thighs were "like baby whales." The once extremely beautiful Liz had gotten very overweight.) Anyway, Joan was one of those "spit your coffee across the room" comedians. She was funny the way Don Rickles was funny, as she would say what must not be said.

I firmly believe that blacks in America should be very proud of the strength they've demonstrated. They are strong, and resilient. They were, most certainly, repressed for many years by the culture, and laws, of our America. But they, and many non-blacks, fought for equality. Changing laws, and attitudes. Now, the only thing holding anybody back in America, is their own outlook, and drive to succeed. I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you
