I like that Bill exhibits a level of common sense. I am an American living in the UK and had to go back to the States this summer and I thought I would see transgender folks everywhere, people whinging about pronouns, and all sorts of madness and when I came in through ATL - a huge airport - it was the same old America, with nuclear families and people walking around, getting along. Same for my trip up to New England. It's social media that is the problem. America is still America, the land of opportunity, where people live in towns and cities, work, tend to their friends and families, the live free. @@Thesteadfast you’re not wrong but I think bill is kind of not in that lane as much as people give him credit for. Bill is a comedian first, and a lot of people who are pushing against or for the “woke” agenda wants to know everyone’s take or how their comedy can speak “truth to power” and I just don’t think that’s how bill sees comedy. There was a similar dynamic on rogan when these guys were on, I actually think it was the exact idea of one of them saying “comedy is speaking truth to power” and rogan quickly quipped back, correctly imo, that “comedy is what’s funny.” And I just think that idea isn’t triggernometrys brand. Bill just kind of does his own thing and if that touches into politics, alright, but I wouldn’t call him a “political” figure like most of the guests on triggernometry. A lot of the conservatives like bill because he “tells it like it is” and a lot of the libs like him because politically he does seem to lean more left. But like he’s just Bill. This at the beginning gave me similar vibes to the h3 bill burr podcast which was awkward af, but throughout the interview, and credit to the trig guys for doing this, the conversation steered less from current political affairs and ideas towards comedy from bills perspective. From that point on it was a splendid interview.

So many uneducated comments on here about Burr like the reason this interview wasn’t “smooth” is because Burr has “changed”. News flash, there are compilation videos of Burr from over ten years ago being way more aggressive and confrontational to interviewers than here. This has always been his style and it’s what made him the best comedian alive. With bill burr you get what’s in front of you. This is par for the course with him and it’s great. He roasts everyone and is always going to come across as the angry old bald Boston dude. If anything this interview is MORE friendly and mellow than it would’ve been years ago

The true complexity of reality will always outstrip our ability to categorize it. So any classification we come up with will always be insufficient or over simplified. That being said, while it's true that most people are dichotomized into "left" and "right" there also exists the "libertarian" and "authoritarian" divide you mention. However, we do know that people who are "left" trend toward "authoritarian" and vice versa, and that people who tend toward "libertarian" track toward "right" and vice versa. So I'm not sure if there's any one "most important" divide as there are many divides with some overlapping.

@@roadshow69 I understand, and I still show people old clips of Burr as an introduction. But I don’t believe that he is being careful, he just changed as we all do between our 20s & 50s. Those comedians who didn’t evolve lost everything and what remained of them is just a fairytale; and a lot of them died of an overdose or simply became irrelevant like Dice. Most of young Bill’s fans (who pay for his bills) have probably overcome their frustrations by now and built a a good life, and they’re experiencing the same transitional emotions as he does and still enjoying his comedy.
