My mom would use the old stick to the butt routine on me so I rarely messed with her, but my father never hit me. However, he did do other things like this one time I tested him and he got so pissed he picked me up, carried me out the back door, and threw me into the pool. Other times he either smashed things that I valued like my video game console or he would slash my bike tires. After that I stopped testing him and listened because I didn't want to lose my things especially when I worked hard for them by either paper route or by mowing lawns in the summer and shoveling drive ways in the winter. I love my parents and I am quite fortunate to have both still alive!

i have a friend of 26 years. im 28. and he would go too far sometimes when we were kids and it would get physical. i was always bigger and stronger. his parents wouldn't just scream like children and threaten to sue. his mother would come over with him, ask my side of the story. ans once the truth was realized, she would punish him accordingly. may she rest in peace, that is good parenting. let your damn kids suffer consequences for their actions or they will grow up to be shit heads. and yes. he is in my google picture. yosemite trip :)

Ahhhhh....the good old days. My dad was used as the 'you just wait until your father gets home' threat, but my mom was the one who followed through and spanked us, usually with a yard stick. The door to the closet where they were kept has a 'unique' squeak. To this day, my sister and I freeze and slightly panic every time we hear that door squeak. And even though I'm 42 and my sister is 45...our knee-jerk reaction is to immediately try to figure what we did wrong and/or figure out how to blame each other. Good times! Good times!
@oldmanballer5088

My mom used that “wait until your dad gets home also.” Which I didn’t mind because when she was really pissed she would throw whatever was in her hand (shoes, cleaning supplies, iron) my buddy ( our families were very close his parents were like my 2nd set of parents and vice versa) in high school decided to thump my mom in the kidney as she was up on the kitchen counter cleaning the window seal over the sink. She had a 6” cactus in her hand and without thinking she was so pissed he thumped her she hit him in the back with the cactus! Funny as hell

I got even though I refused to eat breakfast for three days until the meet went bad and couldn't eat it. I was denied of candy for a week but it passed though. You don't eat dinner for breakfast that's what it's made for breakfast. Eating dinner for breakfast isn't mature.

Haha whenever I used to get sent to my room if I yelled any back chat you’d hear huge footsteps before the door would open and I’d get my ass beat by mum or dad. Then I’d have to “wait till I’ve learnt my lesson” before I could yell out and ask if I can come out. But I mean it worked for me, I see nothing wrong with discipline like that.

It's called tough love, it doesn't mean you don't love your children and yes it can be a tough thing to do sometimes because it contradicts your protective instincts but in the end it's for their own good; They don't know what is and isn't acceptable, if you don't clearly show children what is/isn't acceptable behavior, they won't learn or understand why. These behavioral lessons are an investment in their future as it facilitates a greater level of social awareness, acceptance from their peer groups and subsequent educational and economic success.

There were threats when I was a kid, but my dad was the one who delivered on the ass whippings. We had a board that had a hole drilled on the end of it so there was no air resistance, and with my dad as strong as he was, a few swats were enough to remember to not repeat the act again. A few swats across the ass here and there on a kid builds respect and makes them better people. Nothing wrong with it.

kids act out because the want you to discipline them. they inherently understand that they need structure and will poke and prod at you for it.

"You don't relate to it, you're famous." Actually, I believe Conan relates to it. You guys should react to his remotes where he goes to different countries and uses himself as a the butt of the joke for comedy and at the same time showing his audience another culture and society. He's great.

I don't know wtf y'all talking about, I was born in 2003 and my mom slapped my ass when I needed it. I remember when I got the wooden spoon for lying for my brother. Good times, I laugh about it now tho. Funny as hell
