@UCyax2N_mNoJb8-O3aW8EM-g Wonderful speech BUT, while I am _marginally_ living better than my parents, i's unlikely that my children will, actually he's in his forties but he's not doing any better on a relative scale than I did and if he wee to have kids, I seriously doubt they would have a better life than him. Do we have the internet that can give us access to huge amounts of information, sure but 95% of it is garbage, it takes a lot of digging to find objective truth. Now as for the 'obsession' with the 1%, if you don't recognize them as the problem then you, too, are part of the problem. I just watched a video about the current inflation, where does it come from? Supply chain problems? Nope! Increased wages? Nope! Want to take a guess where the problem lies? Increased margins and that's on the documents the government requires that they not lie about, big business is making a killing, and they are gloating about it, on the pandemic and supply chain issues because increase margins so they can make increased profits. Now You also have to understand that 89% of the stock is held by the top 10%, and just the top 1% own 54% as of 2019. Over the course of the pandemic, the wealth of the top ten people has *doubled.* Now you can say that of you took all of their money it still wouldn't solve the problems but the are just part of the system that keeps the rich rich and the poor where they are. And they and their corporations don't pay taxes so the government has to borrow money to keep things running, such as they are, so they borrow, from the same people that don't pay taxes. Where most of us pay a fairly high portion of our income in taxes, maybe not farmers, not sure about that but I know farmers have direct and indirect subsidies, they get paid interest on the taxes they didn't pay. Again, nice speech but I'm pretty sure, maybe your wallet is, but you're not that enlightened either, you've just bought into the propaganda.

@turtlesoup81342 жыл бұрын
The difference is that yao ming actually played for China during the olympic and did not change his citizenship. Being the few Chinese player all star player in the NBA brought pride to many Chinese people not the other way round. I think, the more similar case would be Chinese ping pong players or other sports that immigrated to other country and represent their new adopted country in the olympic. They do get jeered by the nationalist in China to some extend like how Lang Ping was jeered when she coached team USA to get a gold during the beijing 2008 olympic game. Having said that it is still a minority voice in China and many has already understood what brain drain feels like when living in China in the past decades. USA is different, they haven't got a clue what brain drain feels like and always assume they will always drain other country's brain not the other way round. When they are brain washed day in day out that China is a "shit hole" "totalitarian police state" their whole life and to suddenly find out that a bright young, hot star decide to represent China...just imagine how they will feel? Confused, angry, bewildered. This brings out the loud nationalist and rally to their racist cause while the average american seems on the surface is cool with it but still confused about Eileen's choice and would happily agree that she did it purely for money. The number 2 power is slowly overtaking the number 1 power. We will see more reverse brain drain, but don't expect them to play nice and clean while kicking and screaming on their way down.

Thank you. Your retort was enjoyable and on point. Genuflection is a quality that is sorely missing in America and in American politics. Bill Maher is a useful tool for propagating American exceptionalism and support for apartheid Isreal. So... It is really too bad that the US is using the Olympics to further malign and smear China while creating a divisive political/race issue rather than letting it be an occasion for the international community to put aside their politics and gather for friendly sportsmanship, competition, and cultural exchange. China is not above criticism but this is just despicable on the part of the US.

Ah yes, Stalin's famous coopted term of "American exceptionalism", meant entirely in the exact _opposite_ connotation of course lol (also reminded of Carl Schmitt, _actual_ nazi and his political theology of the sovereign as "the entity that decides the state of exception" - pretty much what Stalin meant in that...this is _bad_ , actually, since there is no sovereignty under the boot of US empire; disclaimer: not advocating Stalinism or whatever just a "fun" fact lol). But yeah, not to mention like all of Maher's ending complaints are ironically just cultural discomfort against outcomes created by _capitalism_ , inevitable "kowtowing" to market inputs/outputs. What a dipshit. Also, just cuz I found this word the other day, to supplement and isolate the essence of the humility aspect of "genuflection", here's a word of the day: "metanoia" - a transformative change of heart; especially : a spiritual conversion. I suppose it's telling in and of itself that I have never heard of this word until like yesterday lol...

Well said. If we spend half as much time and energy worrying about what goes on within our borders as we do without, we'd be a much stronger country. Sometimes it feels like all we have left in this country is hate - hate for the other half of the country, hate for the rest of the world. When did we become so pathetic? IMO Eileen Gu is amazing, the perfect embodiment of talent, character, beauty and brain. Her family paid for all her private education K-12, training, coaching and competition expenses, which must've been considerable, while she herself put in a lot of hard work and took all the risks -- freeskiing is an extremely risky sport, she has suffered broken bones and at least one serious concussion. Meanwhile China provided her with all the exposure and huge fan base that led to all her commercial success -- something which we could never do in this country. When was the last time a US Olympian represented Louis Vuitton, Tiffany's, Estee Lauder, IWC Shaffausen, Oakley, Cadillac etc.? Never. She'd be lucky to be on a cereal box for a couple of weeks. We just don't care about our Olympic stars except two weeks every 4 years. Kudos to China for recognizing her potential early on and help her achieve superstardom. IMO she deserves all the success and accolades that came her way. I think all the complaints are just sour grapes. Some of us are having a hard time accepting that the biggest star of these games is a born-and-bred American who chooses to compete for another country. They haven't realized that there is a whole world out there that doesn't revolve around America, or are just having a hard time accepting it.

By looking at Bills' show, it reminds me that the US now is just like the end of the Qing dynasty of China. During that period, the empire still thought it was number one in the world, but in reality, it has fallen behind. Yes, he can call China whatever he like, as long as it keeps him and his audience happy. They praise him for how "wise" he is because whatever he said was so "truthful", and how "respect" they feel for him. As matter of fact, his show is about telling jokes. That is how shallow it is. It can not keep America in progress. There are fundamental structural flaws in the American system, those flaws may never be addressed, let alone be fixed. one of the flaws is that the media and the president are fully controlled by a few rich people and groups. They trick American people with propaganda and lies. I am stunned by how the perception of American people about the world is out of a touch of reality. That is the reason why the US is going through the downwards spiral of self-destruction. If you like it or not, it is the fact. Time will tell.

The issue with shows like Bill Maher is that he used this comedy-like platform to push the same propaganda as main stream media and do it without any substantive argument and just narrating big head headlines pushed by other anti China media. But if anyone with any level of critical thinking and common sense who can see through western media’s BS and ask Bill to have a debate, I bet Bill will hide behind his shows like “I’m just a comedian so take me seriously” like what Jon Stuart used to say all the time. @@L98fiero Man that was hilarious, I forgot about that. The podium thing comes to mind immediately lol... To his slight credit, at least from the limited amount I've seen/heard of him recently, Jon Stewart seems to make a conscious effort to keep re-grounding himself and pushing for noble goals, rather than just ossify and insulate himself in a delusional but cozy wealth bubble like Maher. I'm thinking specifically of his somewhat recent interview with Jamie -demon- Dimon in which he passive-aggressively (and far too respectably/under-confidently unfortunately, but still) pushes him on the actual content of socialism, ie transparently obvious decades-long class war. Unsurprisingly, Dimon's "response" is just pure hubris, pretention, patronization, essentially "yeah well, you don't get the intricacies of economics, much less my genius contributions to such, and this is why I'm obscenely wealthy despite in reality doing absolutely nothing that is productive and in fact actively hindering such productive capability in favor of what is more profitable for me personally" basically (minus the last part obviously lol). The main problem with these sorts of shows like Bill Maher, Stephen Colbert and others use downstream information from "news" generated from the top - That's Reuters, AP, Fox, BBC, CNN, Al Jeezera etc that all have a common target to paint China in the worst possible ways and set a perception for American society. Objective is to protect Western dominance / supremacy in the world and re-write history to how they see fit. Bill is nothing more than a racist shadow "Insecure aging white male" that has gotten more and more toxic as he got older and his world view closed up. One of the basic human natures is to "put others down to make yourself feel/look good" as a copium drug for the real repression by their oligarchic society. This is the weapon that their rich people do to divert attention to their crimes and make the poor people feel good about themselves by saying "hey, look at those poor Chinese people that's repressed by their dictatorship government! You are sooo lucky to be in America". This is the true nature of "mind control" that the west has been using for years. China is a true threat to them by having a no-nonsense society with social programs and much better equality for everyone - no matter if you are Han, Uyghur, Tibetan, Mongolian, Korean or any of the 50 or so minority groups.

@Beast Mode BS? Dude, just own it. The "good ole US of A" was founded as a racist slave owning country which expanded through genocide and literally built with the slave labor of "colored folks" including the transcontinental US railway which was built by Chinese forced labor. When warmongers like yourself keep prattling on and wishing for an upcoming war with China, at least be honest about what you want to fight for and what the war is all about. World dominance for white people by using nukes to wipe out the "colored" Chinese people. But, let's be honest here okay? Fighting and trying to "win" a nuclear war comes down to trading population losses in hundreds of millions of people killed in the nuclear holocaust. How many people are American white people willing to trade in a nuke war to win world dominance for the white race? The US has a total population size of around 330 million mostly concentrated in urban areas where they could be easily targeted in a nuke attack. China has 4 times that many people at 1.4 billion spread out over a much larger area since there's at least a third of the Chinese population living in rural areas. Okay do you want to trade 330 million Americans for 330 million Chinese lives in a nuke war? How about 2 to 1 American "win" in a nuke war? 330 Americans for 660 million Chinese? Wiping out 330 million Americans in a 2 to 1 "loss" for China in a nuke war will still mean more than half of their population surviving after completely wiping out the American population.

Assuming they hold around 3 warheads in a MIRV configuration there are at most about 3000 nukes ready for launch with the rest being in storage.

Thank you so much Daniel. That video you mentioned it was the drop that spilled the water for me on Bill Maher. On the other hand, Enes Kanter is a Turkish athlete. You should not underestimate the nationalism that lurks behind his participation on "calling out Uyghur genocide" activities. There are many Turkish movements that trying to sow the seed of Pan-Turkism and construct narratives, to bring Turkic people closer and possibly create a Turkic nation ideology and use it for future possible unifications of these nations into one.

Yea, Anus Kanter was a man without a passport and what better way than to perpetuate CIA narrative in order to secure a US passport.

If ethnic Han Chinese want all ethnic Han to unite into one country-including forcibly assimilating Taiwan-what is wrong with ethnic Turks doing the same thing?
@mrhdebater16072 жыл бұрын
@@MayTheSchwartzBeWithYou Well Taiwan is already a part of China for 400 years, China is a huge country and Han Chinese are actually a mix of many different ethnicities. Ethnic Turks have their own country, Turkey. The problem is that Enes was kicked out of Turkey for supporting separatists. That is equivalent to being a traitor.

@@mrhdebater1607 Han Chinese are by definition a single ethnicity. The Chinese Communist Party were themselves traitors who were only able to overpower the Chinese Nationalists because the latter did the brunt of the work defending China from the Imperial Japanese. So the Nationalists did the majority of the work fighting the Imperial Japanese, and the traitorous Communists took advantage of that by attacking the Nationalists after the Imperial Japanese left.
