Thanks again for inspiring playing throughout your career. Something to be said about who we hang with. You hung with the best and rode the wave, always ahead of the eight ball. Cheers to you Bill.

A lovely groove and such variety in the music. Wish I could have seen it live.

@Bill Bruford - I am very pleasantly surprised to see you posting on here, sir. I have to tell you about the second album of yours I bought, ‘One of a Kind’ (I already had ‘Feels Good to Me’). It was the first morning of moving into a flat with my bass guitar playing flatmate (1981/2), so I decided to start his day with a little music. I brought my turntable, amp and speakers into his room and put on ‘Five G’ ...loud! - he had never heard of Jeff Berlin!!! He had before the first bar was completed!!! And that’s when he first heard of you. Changed his life. He was in ecstasy! We were great mates after that. I am now 62 years of age and just yesterday I was listening to ‘Master Strokes 1978-1985’ in my car. Everything on that anthology could’ve been released yesterday. Your music never gets old. Not ever. I have turned so many people onto your music over the past 40 years and I am very proud of that. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you so very much for all of it. I was very sad when I heard of Allan Holdsworth’s passing. Fantastic guitarist. Best regards from Northern Ireland. 😎🎸✌️☘️

Play, join in, make music. Improvisation! Bill makes the simple so delightfully complicated.

FINALLY!! I loved this video so much!! I used to watch it almost everyday when it was posted on bruford’s page as a preview back in ‘08-‘09. I remember the full song was also ln youtube before… but taken down for a while. I’m so happy it’s released again. Bruford is my #1 (#2 is Stewart Copeland and #3 is Danny Carey)

Wow - my favorite drum inspiration. I was able to duplicate some of his Yes stuff (Heart of the Sunrise, etc), and some KC (Three Of A Perfect Pair was bitch), but I can't duplicate his fluidity. He's just too good.

Are there any ‘more recent’ videos of Mr. Bruford performing? Like in the 2000s? I saw Robert Fripp live in the very early 2000s…

Crazy to think that this ‘pot & pan’ hitting dude played with Genesis, Yes, Crimson, Brand X, Gong, etc! Too bad he couldn’t have messed around with Gentle Giant! 😂

Dude??!!!!! Don’t be disrespectful! This is Bill Bruford!! He is ‘THE’ drummers’ drummer. Classically trained. Every drummer looks up to BIll Bruford, without exception. If they don’t, it’s because they have no talent, or knowledge. Good drummers know a class act when they hear it and Bill Bruford is the real deal. Nobody better. Bill is God. Has been for a very, very, very long time. Get some of his music and listen to his time signatures. Breath-taking.

It looks like it was filmed in the 1980s rather than 2004, but if you put it on 720p here, then it's not that bad.
