Thanks for posting this. He opened with A Matter of Trust at the Melbourne concert in December 22 - nailed it perfectly.

Billy looks like he was having so much fun just being another guy in the band as opposed to when he's having to be "Billy Joel"

Billy looked like a kid at Christmas in the "well of keys". I had the entire show recorded on VHS from the original 1986 NBC broadcast.

That's how the A Matter of Trust should be sanged just like in the record. Excellent.

That is so cool. It sounds so impromptu, like Billy just called Paul up and asked if he could just drop by.

It just occurred to me watching this that Billy wisely avoided the mullet fad.

Love seeing things like this & I love that David was ripping it with him. "One FINAL serenade" that FINAL makes me sad because billy is the best to ever step foot on this earth as far as modern writing goes. His music is so colorful & never forced. If you only listen to an instrumental of his it will still evoke strong feelings. Take pressure-the music alone is screaming pressure before he says a word. But His lyrics are equally as strong as his musicality. He NEVER strays off topic & always sticks to a theme. Never has he just thrown words together because they sound cool. A lot of my fav songs have lyrics that don't really make any sense but I still love them, billy never did that & it's just another detail that sets him apart from the rest. That's why one final serenade makes me sad. Don't know why I just started rambling sorry haha!!!

@@thetruth72667 Don't apologize, I feel the EXACT same way. When I bought RIVER OF DREAMS the day it was released, took it home and put my headphones on I KNEW something was so very different. Yes, the music and lyrics were peerless as ever. But then my feelings were given voice as the song "Famous Last Words" (the last song on the last album) rang into my ear...I sat there with tears streaming down my face because I knew Billy was saying "Good-bye". About 4 years later this suspicion was verified by Billy in an interview saying, "And then I realized that I was really saying farewell to this kind of writing..." See? I am rambling now. Take Care!!

Paul is one short dude. Billy is a short dude himself but next to Billy Joel he looks like an elf.

Paul Shaffer wrote “It’s raining men”! It would be funny if they jammed that with Billy! But then again, never ask Paul to jam anything when he’s standing behind you!
