I appreciate the wealth of knowledge you have and the enthusiasm in which you share info to the public. Just got back from a 30-hour head boat trip; and was able to land 2 blackfin and 1 yellowfin on a slow pitch jigging set-up. Thank you kindly Captain Mike.

I from providence island Colombia, the way we deep drop here is with a 300lb monofilament 10+ hooks no reels just hand pulling for 6+ hours from 1000 to 1500+ feet. Just lately some fishermen are using manual reels

Really enjoyed the seminar Capt. Mike! Wish you would have shown a little bit on how you hook Baits onto the circle hooks Full squid? Strips? Bunched bat? Hook in the middle or on an end of the bait?

You mentioned the swift current/wind drift, pushing you quickly from 400ft in to 200ft, would a GPS trolling motor help to keep you locked in place? I have an Andros 32 Offshore...

MiniBar When you’re deep dropping, your goal is to cover ground. It’s not traditional as to where you keep the boat on a wreck or reef to maximize the bite. These fish are spread out and you need to be able to keep a consistent drift to do that.

@@GulfSoftwash is it not possible to type in a controlled drift with a gps motor?
@GulfSoftwash3 жыл бұрын
@@huudinii123 it will help to keep you on a certain drift line and keep your bow pointed where you want it. Basically keeping your boat parallel with with the current.

way overdue, but just to clarify 20 or 60lbs, that means if you catch a 60lb fish, you're done. 1 50lb fish and 10lb of something else and you're done.
