I had a thought in church the idea. My seven year old was struggling to stay quiet and still and I thought, " The task of childhood is self control over your body. The task of adulthood is self control over the mind."

My husband and I trained our daughters to be still in church by practicing in 20 minute increments at home. We also appealed to their hearts by explaining people come to church to worship God and be fed by the word of God and we don’t want to disrupt or distract that ❤️

I recommend reading the book "Atomic Habits" (shoot, I may do a video series on it). It can help unpack the basic principles that run most human beings with habit setting and ultimately self-control. I would also recommend you pray to God and ask Him to give control over yourself. Ask Him to gift you with resolve, know-how, and skill. Ask Him to help you to better understand how YOU tick. I'm an early bird and have discovered that if I really need something done, I need to make it happen before noon, because after 12p my energy starts slowing down. Others are the opposite in that they get major portions of their load done at night. It helps to know how He designed you so you can with your general tendencies as opposed to against them.

I’m struggling with everything that has to do with self mastery. Over eating, laziness with prayers, homemaking and responsibilities, sticking to a schedule, being distracted by my phone or spending time with friends. I needed to hear all of this and thank you for this video! You’re inspiring me to be better!
@EarzOnTunz

I would caution you not to say it's laziness but dig more deeply. It may be a lack of self-confidence, a lack of feeling worthy of achieving what you can, deep self-doubt from social or family conditioning or simply exhaustion or burnout. Ask the Lord to help you find the cause. I'm struggling with the same things and I KNOW for a fact I'm not lazy but disheartened. That is likely still a condition with spiritual roots but I don't want you to feel you're lazy when you're really suffering. Find the cause of the suffering and you can start healing.

Have you asked God if there’s something you need to obey in the Gospel? God showed me that I didn’t understand baptism and that it’s more than a symbol. When I saw it as a death and a new start, I got baptized (the other times were just a ritual). I went under one way, and came out another. A dead man, theoretically, can’t sin, meaning that the sin nature is no longer our first nature. We put on Christ. Then we walk by faith remembering that He’s washed away our sin through the waters of baptism and put away the sinful flesh. And then we need to be filled with His Holy Spirit with evidence (speaking in tongues, prophecy). Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a game changer, He helps to be holy and He changes is as we continue in the Word and prayer. Then He commissions us to tell others and disciple them - but it all starts with repentance (turning from sin and turning to God, crying out for Him to give us soft hearts again so we’re convicted by sin). Let us not treat these foundational things as casual, I often find that skipping these foundational things can cause a lot of lack of victory and faith in who the Lord is as well as striving and eventually falling away. A lot of these things are talked about in Romans, Galatians, and other verses in the New Testament. The book of acts helps us understand what our foremost role is as priests and messengers for Christ and gives us this amazing foundation. Hebrews 2:3 - how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him.

OMGoodness- I just turned 72 and found this channel and SUBSCRIBED! I was a stay at home mom when my 3 children were young then used my teaching degree when they were in school. I retired to care for my grandchild(ren) and since they have been in school I am "Grammy on call". We had some extensive interior renovations done and I can't seem to get a handle on returning the house to "normal" and my eating habits, well, I've already learned about that from Bindi, so I am encouraged! Bless you, Bindi, for being a blessing to other women who seek the Lord in our life!

I'm so glad it helped. Something I like to do is when I find gaps in what I feel like I need to do is first and foremost, I take it to God to in prayer (literally). I ask for wisdom, discernment, and skill. He does actually answer. Also, KZbin channels and articles written across the internet can help provide practical guidance on how to manage a diet, or a homeschooling regimen. For me it comes down to planning, actually scheduling things in my calendar, and then determining to get what I have assigned to myself for the day done. No matter what. May the Lord strengthen you.

The words "healing" and "boundaries" have been reoccurring this year. They just stand out for me. And being a Christian, I recognized eventually that it was God speaking. It was the Holy Spirit telling me what I needed in order to transform my life. This entire video speaks mostly towards having boundaries for me. And boundaries begin with myself. If I can't respect my own boundaries (self-control) then I won't be strict with the boundaries I set for people. I love how you've articulated the concept of self-discipline and control. These are the two specific things I need to master in my life. May God continue to help me🥺❤️🙏🏾

Great words! My thoughts on this video: *Indeed - we can put as much dedication into becoming a better housemaker and mother as we did (or do) in our careers. *Having a well thought out plan is really helpful. I personally discovered Fly lady system - the woman behind it is christian - it is a daily and weekly routine of upkeeping your home and there is an app that lists tasks grouped for areas of your house. It is so much easier having this list in front of me since some of these tasks I almost never did before on a regular basis (more detailed cleaning). *building character and will power is directly linked to self confidence. The more you accomplish, the stronger you feel. This is what I I working on. Thank you for the video

Man oh man did I need to hear this! I used to be so good at being on top of things then I had my 7 month old son and since then I've just been all over the place. I gave myself grace in the beginning because ofcourse I needed to heal and recover. It's been 7 months now though and I'm still in a slump that has affected my housekeeping and work. Dishes stay in the sink for far too long. Sometimes my husband comes home to a dirty house and no supper. I've been wanting to change but no motivation and even prayed to God to help me change. This is JUST what I needed to hear!!! God is so so good all the time. The conviction is real and I pray that God helps me to follow through and be a better wife and mom. Thanks so much Bindi!!!

I'm a single mother with two jobs. I struggle very much with keeping up with the housekeeping and staying in my word 😭 I often have the audio Bible while I'm driving or on my break at work and sometimes when I'm winding down for bed but sometimes that's not enough. The way my life is right now, it's very easy to just plop down on the couch after getting off of work, getting my child from daycare and maybe making dinner and deciding that I'm done for the day. Praying that the Lord helps me to not be lazy when it's very easy because I do want to be a homemaker/housewife and want my child(ren) and husband comfortable and happy. Thank you for your content. Give me a lot to think and pray about.

I struggle a lot with clocking out at the end of the day too. I had to get over the mindset that more work or service is depleting. I changed my mindset to I am training and when I have more to accomplish i am getting stronger. Like when I push myself during a workout. Another thing I think about often is that my actions have infinite meaning and everything matters. I get to serve 100% of my kids needs and I get 100% of the hugs, and love too. It’s important to set those intentions and create a space in your home that reminds you of that. Maybe Holy art or an altar that is set up with those intentions in mind.

@@sabinasoto5151 that's a really good idea! Thank you for that. I've been thinking that when I move out (hopefully within the year) that maybe I can look for a place with an extra bedroom and make that room or making a small closet and turn into a prayer closet. And yes Changing our mindset is so important because our babies are sponges and see everything. Especially our responses to our issues/circumstances. It's important to point our kids to Christ intentionally through not only our words but our actions too.

Your video showed up as I was thinking about how hard food addiction has been for me. I’ve had my third baby this year, and every time I have a baby it’s so hard to lose all the weight. I stress eat, and that compounds the issue. I’m praying for strength to drop the addiction and find another way to comfort myself during stress. I resent how hard my work is and that we can’t afford for me to focus solely on the children, and I use it as a cop out to overeat. Thank you for your video. It’s encouraging me to keep trying.

I have been struggling with food for years. I overeat and I have food FOMO. I decided to do intermittent fasting as a diet instead of restricting certain foods or forcing myself to workout for hours a day. So far, IF has started to heal my addiction to food and allowed me to be in more control over my hunger. I have also found that now that I am becoming more disciplined with my food, I have voluntarily started working out because I had the energy and the motivation. Since it isn’t forced, it doesn’t feel like a chore to make time for. I have found a lot of success with IF and I would recommend it to anyone who struggles with food discipline.

Funny thing is, I have known that my lack in this area has prevented me from both moving forward and receiving blessings that I’ve asked for. I don’t want to make excuses, so I’ll say I need to really seek God’s face about feeling overwhelmed and not knowing what to prioritize. I find this so interesting! I’m a Muslim and there is a narration that mentions fasting being “castration”… Abdallah b. Mas'ud reported God’s Messenger as saying, “Young man, those of you who can support a wife should marry, for it keeps you from looking at strange women and preserves you from immorality; but those who cannot should devote themselves to fasting, for it is a means of suppressing sexual desire.”* (Bukhari and Muslim.) * Waja' has been translated freely above. this is *very, very good* content, bindi! i applaud your courage for speaking on and authentically living the biblical wisdom so unrecognized by many women today. however, the sound of the wind chimes was competing with your voice. i used to love the sound of wind chimes, but when i researched their origins and true function as conductors/attractors of spiritual entities, i ceased to be 'charmed' by them, however 'beautiful' their sound. i think, because you believe in God and honor His Word, that you can understand and appreciate 1 Cor. 3:19 that says, 'for the wisdom of God is foolishness to men...' on the surface, many things that seem harmless to us connect directly with the unseen spiritual world. God *can* see, and that's why He points us away from them. crystals, manifesting, tarot, yoga and other such things are part of a self-reliant philosophy that undermines faith and obedience. i do hope that you receive this in the spirit in which it is given, and i thank you for sharing.

Thank you Bindi for sharing your thoughts and discussions about self-mastery. My need to straighten is in mental and emotional discipline in practice. Too often I let the ball drop. And it's usually because I get physically tired. But it's good to pick up and push yourself to read your Bible chapters and when you do, the holy spirit helps you to feel eventually better in time as you read. But it's good to remember mastery when self practicing. God prevails all trouble. It does get better with time.
