"Submitted for your approval: You've seen them. Little towns, tucked away far from the main roads. You've seen them, but have you thought about them? Have you wondered what the people do in such places, why they stay? Slim Potatohead thinks about them now and he wonders, but only very late at night, when he's between wakefulness and sleep--in the Twilight Zone." (Serling, R.) - loosely Ummm, errr...Aliner Zone? Another solid and much enjoyed video, Slim. You've set a high bar in terms of adventurous spirit and, capturing it all to share. Here's hoping your rig was perched upwind.

Superior quality in this documentary. Now we know what you can do if you ever want to come out of retirement and still stay in tune with nature. Have you contacted National Geographic? Lots of good information in this one, and your photographic skills are high quality. I truly enjoyed this video. Five thumbs up and kilos of kudos.

Slim those cranes make it up to Nebraska starting in late February till April. Half a million ( 80% ) of the total population stops along the Platte River. Its quite a show. Wife and I make the trip every year. I've watch your winter camping videos. You'd be fine. You should check it out. Intermixed with all the snow geese its an amazing site. Check out cranetrust.org.

Thank you SO MUCH for doing this!! Hearing the Sandhill Cranes as they trill overhead always signals the arrival of Autumn for me. For the 28 years we lived on the farm, my heart would lift whenever I heard them, usually while hanging out clothes on the line! We live about an hour south of the Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge - a big, sprawling place with lookout points & a few trails. I took my children there for picnics many times. And my folks lived in AZ for many years. On one trip out to see them, they carried us up to see Jerome - a neat old copper mine town. This video just hit all the markers for me; just so professionally done & amazing! Congratulations & thank you! 😊

I found your channel two days ago and already fallen in love with your videos!! Very professional and beautiful presentation. I really like your presentation. Awesome video, Slim. I had no idea this existed in SE AZ. Wow! And I'm definitely adding this to my list of AZ sights to see. I live near a large marsh/wetland and Sandhill Cranes pass through here. If you ever find yourself traveling on I-84 in NE OR, look up Ladd Marsh near the city of La Grande. NE OR has some pretty spectacular areas - have you ever been visited?

Hi MsKraftee, Oregon is on my hitlist, perhaps in the warmer months. I've only been to Portland a couple of times. Any free camping tips? Thanks, SP
@MsKraftee6 жыл бұрын
Hi Slim - there is quite a bit of dispersed camping in OR as there are several National Forests and a lot of BLM land. Here in NE OR there are two or three Natiomal Forests. My favorite sites to visit in my area are Wallowa Lake and Hell's Canyon. Farther south is the Malhuer Bird Refuge (scene of the hostile takeover a few years ago but I won't go into that) and the Owhyee Canyonlands. I haven't been there yet - on the list for this summer. That area is fairly remote. Then there is John Day and The Painted Hills as you head towards Central OR. All these areas have dispersed camping. July is my favorite time of year because everything is so green and fire season hasn't started. We had terrible smoke here last year, too. Let me know when you plan to visit and I'll help you find some possible areas to camp.
