Sunning video, well done. It took me back to my childhood and I followed all my young footsteps. Some good changes, but lots of the old days now gone

Amazing this, i lived in Morecambe and renovated a little flat when i had work in the Northwest to complete. Loved the place, warts and all. Has a lot of charm and the opportunities are endless. Regret selling my flat on Sandylands Promenade. I envy future generations who will have this footage, imagine having a comparable video from the 1950's via drone in HD. Wow.

Everything I loved about the town growing up has gone. The Pier. 2 Fun Fairs. Bubbles. The Dome. Sand on the beach. Even the stone Jetty and Happy Mount Park are just shaddows of what they once were.

Ive got no idea what your looking at but i grew up there in the 60's and 70's and its way better than that now. Sand on the beaches??? what decade was that? theres sand there now and grass growning also where there was once rocks and masonary. Fair enough the piers have gone, and i wish they were stil there, but there wouldn't be any customers to keep them going. bubbles was a disgrace compared toThe Super Swimming Stadium. the 2nd largest pool in Europe and 130M long. The stone jetty has been transformed and looks great and Happy Mount Park hasn't changed at all except the pitch and put is now a mini assault course, and its full of people. Morecambe has come on in leaps and bounds. take off your rose tinted glasses and go and have another look. Anyone that says it was better before are delusional. im moving back to Morecambe and bringing my son and cant wait to go cycling down the prom with him. Brilliant video! Thank you.

As true sand grown un ( as in born and bred in Morecambe ) it was great to see the old place from a different angle , and yes it has changed a lot as in both piers gone , I was there when the Central Pier collapsed in the storm , shame, but I still have the memories.

The remains of the sea water pool at 1:41, used to play in there in a dingy during our summer holidays in 1978, 2 weeks of hot weather! We stayed in a self catering flat on Sandylands promenade if i recall. The place was so busy, there was a putting green just up the road, loads amusment arcades with space invaders and so on , a big open market, frontierland , a cinema (seen Jaws 2 there) , marine world and fish n chips at the end of the day in the flat! Great memories of when i was 12.

sky cam video yes it’s a shame , I think the cheap package holidays to Spain and so on killed the 2 week British seaside town holidays. I have always wanted to go back to see it on the odd weekend trip to Blackpool but my wife said it will spoil my memories as few people said it wasn’t the place it was. Still I have my memories !! Blackpool still gets very busy but again, not what it was.

Its amazing to see the changes between this and a 1901 film I found of the prom. It is far far more populous but there's less people about and the sea defences have really sprang up. You get a really good view of the and extent of how huge the bay is, and perhaps understand why it has such ferocious tides. Do we get to see the Eric Morecambe statue?

I went to Morecambe once, to see the illuminations. They were wonderful. The lights went from red, to red and amber, to green, back to amber and ending up back at red. then the whole cycle began again. If anyone ever gets bored watching paint dry and fancy something slightly more exotic, you really must try Morecambe illuminations. Joking apart, It is a scandal that the place has been allowed to go to rack and ruin over the years. It was never as good as Blackpool, but it was an alternative for those wanting less tat and less `in your face` entertainment. There is nothing of value now apart from the view and the Eric Morecambe statue and a seaside resort needs more to entertain a family group. There is no end of pier show (because there is no pier), no large fairground or theme park (since Blobbyland finished) and go inland one block from the promenade and it is so scruffy and run down, it contrasts greatly with the prom, which is a pleasant place. Lancaster Council should be ashamed in allowing Morecambe to decline as much as it has. They happily take money from the residents, it is now time to give more of it back and spend it from whence it came.
