(This is spoiler-free) I was waiting for “Bismuth.” No matter how many times I watch it, it always eats at me. It’s gotta be one of my favorites. There’s just so much information. Great music too. Her instrument is a reversed electric guitar and it captures the mood so well. She’s a character that had a lot of potential and a captivating story, and I really wish they did more with her. This episode really gets you thinking too. Why would Rose bubble a gem that was so important to the rebellion? There’s gotta be a better incentive than just “war is bad.” After all, she started it and knew what she was doing would get her in trouble! More importantly, why did Bismuth say Rose was a soldier made on Earth? Greg said she was from space! Something isn’t adding up. There’s one little detail that’s missing and you find out later. It just recontextualizes episodes like these and I can’t wait for you to get there! I’m at a loss for words now. It’s just such a great episode.

Bismuth marks a turning point in the series in the sense that it, for possibly the first time, challenges the viewpoint of Rose that's been set forth of her being this perfect little angel, or something like that. It soon becomes undeniable that Rose has made mistakes. However, I recently formed a little headcanon that some of the things in Lion's mane were put there by Rose, specifically for Steven. Since she left a tape there addressed exclusively to Steven, it's not a stretch that everything in Lion's mane was something Steven was meant to rediscover - including Bismuth's bubble. Maybe she wanted to give Steven a chance to fix some of her old mistakes.

Rose Quartzs, Amethysts, and Jaspers (as well as others) are different types of quartzes. Amethyst never met another Quartz besides Rose because she emerged so late, so she didn't have someone to compare herself to. She was never told what she was "supposed to be" like all the others were. Rather, Rose immediately started encouraging her to be who she wanted to be. But Ame never figured that out. Rose didn't push her to work on it, really- just encouraged her. So when Rose wasn't there anymore... Ame still didn't know who she was.

@@ChiliFarmerAnimation i mean not really, at least for the main crystal gem's weapons. A sword, a shield, a whip, gauntlets and spears don't require any load time and except for two, are incredibly effective from a distance and all are fast to us

So there's an off-camera reason Amethyst's eating habits are so weird and gross: gems can feel food going through their body, but they don't have any taste buds so it's literally just a textural experience. Essentially, she just eats whatever feels interesting, hence the entire jar of mayo or completely inedible things like gasoline.

I totally get what you mean about toxic positivity. Where you completely shut off all negative emotions and therefore you can't process them and it damages yourself and/or the people around you in the long run. There needs to be a balance of both.

I'm just gonna say Bismuth had a point. Tge fact that Rose did not wan't shatter enemies may have not been that good after all considering the Homeworld gems did. I think we can assume that most of the gems shattered in the War were actually crystal gems and also bear in mind that all the forced fusions were Crystal Gems at one point like Garnet mentioned. I'm just saying it might have made a difference in terms of the survival of the Rebels if they were also more aggressive. And also Bismuth just learned about this fact so it makes total sence the way she reacted. (Besides wanting to shatter Steven)

this is around the time that the previously subtle increase in Steven's power is really showing how far he had come. It makes you look back and see those mile stones including how he started to physically get stronger and more durable.
