I don't think there's a wrong or right way to feel. Yes he has a lot going on and it's very hard to upkeep a lot of things at the same time. There's a scene in Korea that's meta, I guess you could say. CN uses an animation studio in Korea. Greg and Steven walk in, and Greg notices pictures of himself on the walls and the drawing board...it goes by quick, I didn't notice the first time. It's fun to go back and use the pause control to see what's happening.

Pink diamond acts as a foil to Rose. They are portrayed as opposites, one good and the other terrible (which is which depends on different character's points of view.) But they are also so similar, and they reflect each other's traits in a way.

In terms of controlling every aspect of the Zooman's lives I think it's to keep them in pristine condition. They're given balanced portions of seemingly nutritious foods and are free of stress, making them theoretically perfect. The choosening ritual seems to be more or less a way to keep the Zooman population both healthy and under control. They're trophies that should be kept in the best condition. It doesnt matter if they're missing key elements to being human, like freedom and such.

Fusion is only taboo if different gem types fuse. Two Rubies would be fine but a ruby and a sapphire would not. Even if they’re variants of the same mineral it’s still bad, like how rubies and sapphire are both corundum.

right, but like we (or really I, where I am in the series) don't know why they believe that, yet. Where that initial concept of it being bad came from, besides the diamonds manifesting that as moral code.

@@ChiliFarmerAnimation the concept of cross gem fusions messes with the cast system that the diamonds uses to control for example a pearl is the lowest cast and are used as servants were as amethyst are soldiers/guards so a fusion of them making an “opal” breaks them from there roles in the cast system and messes up where they “should” go

i wonder how much rose actually told greg. "no, IM very upset!" yes steven sticking up for himself. i also love that greg was able to emphazise with blue diamond over loss. watching steven crying for his dad just hurts everytime. sometimes you forget hes literally just a kid. nice to know greg is a 'wanted' man xD i wanna try that weird fruit. bet it tastes purple! this song was a surprise to be sure, but a good one~ when i first watched this me and my sister flipped xD and yay amethyst found her family and we showed up that rude agate. all in all a good day. i also wanna note the diamonds body language. blue avoids looking at yellow UNTIL yellow begins showing her insecurities and saying how she also misses pink. then blue reaches out to comfort yellow at the end. so while the diamonds treat other gems terribly, they dont seem to treat each other that way.

Yellow Diamond wants to destroy Earth because of what happened to Pink Diamon, as implied in her song, she wants it gone so she doesn't have to think about it. Blue Diamond wants to keep it, or at least some part of it because she misses Pink and sees it as all they have left of her. Yellow Diamond wants to make Blue happy, which is why she would want to preserve part of it. You said it yourself, they are just doing it in her memory, but with the cluster they can get something out of it (in their minds). Remember how Paridot once said Yellow was the most resourceful Diamond? Even though her decision to destroy earth with the cluster didn't seem like it, it is resourceful for her to get rid of it because of the unhappy memories it has for her, but also get something out of it at the same time.

I've been waiting for this arc! Glad you put it all in one video. Lots of interesting stuff in these episodes. A few things to point out: In regards to the palanquin, we were saying to think back to "The Answer" because that's when we first saw Blue's palanquin! Sort of a hint that it would be Diamond-related. At the start of "Adventures in Light Distortion", Pearl says "When I still served...*pause*...Homeworld." We know Pearl was a servant on Homeworld but we know nothing about her owner, which is something at this point in the show people were speculating about like crazy. It seems like she's not telling us some things and it's worth pondering. Yellow's closing line of "then there's still time" - keep that in mind!

Blue Diamond has the ability to project emotions onto other gems. And Blue Diamond is the diamond who had the closest relationship with Pink Diamond. I think Blue Diamond's grief reaches Rose Quartz (Steven) as she was the one who shattered Pink Diamond.

As I saw another person say, you're definitely asking the right questions. (In the following paragraph, I made sure to dodge around any potential spoilers) Since you showed such interest in the Diamond insignia, I thought I'd point out that the four-diamond symbol pops up in several places through the series thus far - the Sky Arena is one such place. Back in the original run of the series, when there was plenty of time between episodes to theorize, many people had picked up on the multiple-diamonds thing long before Pink Diamond was name-dropped. Also, another interesting, related piece of foreshadowing is that in a certain background shot of the sky arena, the insignia can be found at the apex of an archway - except part of the pink diamond has crumbled away as the arena fell into ruin. I thought that's a pretty cool piece of symbolism that you'd like to know about.

When there's a very small breeding population of an animal that's in captivity (think pandas, rhinos, etc) biologists work out breeding programs that maximize genetic diversity and minimize close inbreeding. It's a really gross principle when applied to humans, like most of the "conservation" and "enrichment" measures in the human zoo. Practically speaking there would have to be other units within the zoo like this one, because there's just no way such a small genetic pool would survive 6000 years even with intervention, unless maybe Blue's gems are doing a whole lot of genetic modification...

17:43 it is not a good idea to be thinking of gems (or in this case, Pink Diamond) as a "person". The aren't people; and therefore, do not think/process like people. To them "being" is eternal and the concept of life/death is "beneath" them.

I guess what I meant was that they process emotions similar to humans (reason was blue was baffled by Greg's ability to understand sadness). But yeah they view humans like we would view insects or amoeba, just an organism or cute little creature to say "aww look at them go"
