Dude only stood 5’3 but played the drums like a giant !! Even more impressive is the fact that he was self taught on the drums, also played guitar and wrote a bunch of Slipknots early material (guitar riffs and song lyrics)He is also credited with pushing for the band to be called Slipknot. I'd seen Joey Jordison perform w/ Slipknot a few times since their inception at Ozzfest '99 and Ozzfest 2001... short guy who was just a drum wizard on the kit 🤘🤘He always blew the crowd away w/ his energy and precision... his spinning drums and drum solo being a highlight of the show. For over a decade, Jordison (#1 of 9 in Slipknot) was one of the top drummers... he was also behind the kit for other bands like Satyricon, Rob Zombie, Murderdolls, Ministry... he even substituted for Lars Ulrich at a Metallica concert in Slipknot gear and mask. He had the Scar the Martyr project when it was announced that Slipknot had fired him... around 2013. Apparently, he had developed health problems and couldn't deliver at that level anymore... I was even more bummed out when I heard he had passed away in 2021. I give props to Jay Weinberg, who took over on drums for Slipknot and delivered the level of excellence that Joey Jordison (R.I.P.) had set.

the footage from that concert when they performed "Spit it Out" hits harder than the more current and later performances as far as crowd participation, that dvd is just epic, the whole concert, and certain songs on the dvd you can switch cameras and follow whichever band member at will

I'm not a Slipknot fan, but this whole concert was their best anything. No other concert or video or song can beat the chaos and energy of this show. I could never understand the fans who recommend anything other than this early concert.

How to describe drumming. Play the guitar. its one instrument. Bass, 1. Play drums, you have to play many instruments, at one time, while sometimes playing 1-2-3 or more different melodies and rhythms at the same time, while leading the song, getting into the breakdowns, and building things up. People often take the drummer for granted, but its super hard work, you need super hard skin on your hands, and to train. because you spend so much energy, and use so many muscles. All while you have to play multiple things at once as said. Also, when a guitar player make a mistake or bass or what ever, it often just disappear in the sound. But if a drummer makes a mistake, it can be heard right away, and might even cause issues with the drive of the song because the drummer often drives the whole song.
