Philipino cuisine is criminally under-rated! I’m Mexican American from So. California and believe it or not, I went my first 23 years of my life never having had the pleasure of trying it outside of a few random delicious desserts from my aunt’s filipina coworkers. Wasn’t until I started dating a half Filipina half white girl I first got to try it at a legit restaurant. I absolutely loved EVERYTHING! My family would always tease me for putting vinegar and salt on pretty much anything and when I realized spicy vinegar was a normal everyday table condiment I felt like I found my long lost relatives haha! That alone would have been enough for me but then dessert absolutely sealed the deal… HALO-HALO!… Are you kidding me filipinos!? That is crack cocaine in dessert form! And everything else! All of the sweet sticky rice flour balls filled with coconut and ube purple sweet yam and taro! I love my Mexican food and while I wouldn’t ever trade it for anything, filipino food seriously gives it a run for its money in my opinion.

When eating in the Philippines, I suggest you partner them with rice as the food here is basically intentded to have along with rice. If you eat it plainly, it may be too salty or too sweet. You'll really appreciate the flavors once rice balances it all out.
@arjay38032 жыл бұрын
I think they try to eat it without the rice so that they can focus on the main flavor of the dish and also to not get it all filled up when visiting other restaurants.

Nope , Kapampangan foods are never too salty every dishes are well balanced and kapampangan foods are most likely flavorful and savory trust me, I live my whole life there. ^^
@rap32082 жыл бұрын
@@arjay3803 Put it this way, when you eat a chocolate, the first bite is most heavenly, usually you even haven't taken a bite yet but your mouth is already salivating. The next bites are still good but they are not as spectacular as the first bite because your palate is already used to the taste. The purpose of the rice, after your first mouthful of the dish which is to die for, is you would want to wash your palate with rice off the residual taste so you can experience again almost the same effect as your first mouthful. Filipinos just eat this way but non ever tried to verbalize why rice is very important to them.

it will stay under rated when Filipinos are always to desperate to peddle lies about their food culture. Filipino food is great. But it need not be about Bugs and Rabbits because that is just trying too hard to be interesting. They went to Pampanga and showed Rabbits, which most Filipinos would never eat, especially with cages of rabbits around them.

Matching it in a senseless way. You call this great “co-hosting” without even having to do a proper research on her part. It’s comedic because the foreigner is the one introducing local food to the local? The irony. And yet you find it entertaining? You guys don’t know what context is at all. Ang babaw niyo!

Aling is not only a wonderful co-host, but this is exactly how I'd want to be! There are many things on this show that feel odd or may not even agree with my stomach at first, but how the heck are you going to know if you don't try!? If there's one major thing I've learned from BEFRS, it's don't judge until you try. Even now I've been more turned onto off cuts that I used to only sort of eat. I now love smoked turkey tail, liver, I've had cow tongue tacos, and I just can't wait to experience more of these amazingly different but wonderful foods! As time goes on with the much more recent episodes, I am also learning just how incredibly useful and critical it is that all these alternative and efficiently farmable proteins are a very real help to the earth as a whole. From insects to frogs, guinie pigs, rabbits, bamboo, grasscutter, or just well farmed rats, porcupines, snails, or sustainable pest harvesting with Australia's kangaroos, iguanas, wombats, etc. It's so amazing to see cultures already embracing it, even if it's just the first step and some people are unsure. Kudos to this episode!

Well the only ones who can't really speak English are those from the mountains and by the seaside who has difficulty having schools. But some still knows broken English. But the only fluent speakers are those who attends speech class or grown up with English speaking families.(the so called pakitang gilas or so called show off.) Barely speaks the native language cause their parents wants them to be fluent that their children barely understands native language lol.
