@@BjarneButler Yeah so far so good. Staying away from the damned Virus luckily but it's hard to catch it out in the Timber Everyday lol. We have had a very low snowfall so far so we've been able to really pile up the logs. On windy days we can haul from the landings to the Mill so were keeping busy and are actually ahead of schedule. We should have this tract finished up by First of July so were already putting in bids for the next. Oh I wanted to tell you we got to test run the new Husky 572XP power head.....wow buddy.....I slapped a 32" bar with full chisel 3/8" .50" chain and it dont even make it Grunt ! So impressed with it....were keeping this one and just got another for our Son.... Buddy I dont know what or how they did it but the power to weight ratio is out of this world.....you have a 72cc saw that runs like it's at least 90cc's and weighs like a 16" homeowner saw ! If you get a chance try one and see what you think. I know it would be a smallish saw for what you get into but I would like to hear your opinion. Take Care Buddy, Talk soon. R.C. "Charlie" Hill.

What happened to the tree that slid down the slope? Could you buck it?
@BjarneButler4 жыл бұрын
Nope it’s laying on an angle straight down the hill on top of other bucked wood which makes it too dangerous. It’s also too far down the hill to justify spending the time to hike down there and back up. Doing that would slow down production and cut into profits. The next phase has buckermen that buck everything we don’t get during and after the logging process. Which allows the buckers to use heavy equipment to reposition the logs to a safer position to buck.

What are your thoughts as an old growth logger for the pleas to stop old growth logging in BC? Would you be willing to move over to felling second and third growth forests if it meant a potential lower income or less enjoyment? I really like your videos but its a pain to know that one day these trees will run out and we will never have these wonderful organisms again.

@CanadianSkylights4 жыл бұрын
@@batmantiss this is an old growth forest that has never been logged. Pretty much all of the videos you see on here are of them. It's what makes the videos so majestic as Cedars of this size take 400+ years to grow. An old growth forest will always consist of many different age groups of the forest, but the term second and third growth is used for forests that have already been logged once or even twice.

17:29 Why are you guys cutting down all those trees? I see other trees that were cut down but your cutting them up. Why are they still there?
@ScoredPiston3 жыл бұрын
This is west coast BC, many trees have fallen down on their own. The older trees on the ground already are there becuz they are too rotten to use and weren’t cut down, they fell down due to age. They could use them to make your toilet paper but it would hurt a bunch more than what you’re currently using….. This is helicopter logging. The other big trees they have actually cut down, get bucked into lengths small enough that the helicopter can lift. If they are too long, the helicopter can’t lift them. They do lots of this for forest fire prevention.
