I own one. The hatred on the grill I get, however it contains lots of technology and radars and is self healing. So if it gets scratched or scraped it basically melts itself back to normal by facing the car towards the sun or hot water as I saw another video do. I really love it, never thought I would get to own something so cool!

Great video Bjorn ... my iX 40 arrives this week and I totally agree with you about the delta between the 50 and 40 .... 99% of my journeys wont exceed the range ont he 40 even with a heavy foot .... and the 150kw charging here is Scotland is just about the max we can reliably get so paying more for that is nuts too .... and to be honest now that the Tesla Superchargers have opened in a few locations the range is less of an issue even on a long journey

I've tried the adaptive drive in a skoda Enyaq some days ago. Don't know if BMW did a better job (as I know they do an awesome lanekeeping-assist etc I hope, that they do a better job then Skoda/VW) but the Enyaq was horrible to drive with the adaptive regen.

I’ve got the IX E drive 40 in oxide grey. It is my first EV, I had an Bmw F30 330e before, so not completely new to the game. I was contemplating between iPace 400 and EQC 400, but after I sat in the EQC is is exactly the same as my current C 220d AMG Premium +, goes quick don’t get me wrong, but that’s it. In fairness people give the iX hard time about it’s face, but have you looked at the EQC? Wireless phone charging ….not even an option, Apple car play … optional extra unless you go for a higher trim etc. The iPace looked great and is even faster, but charging is slow, for the battery size it lacks the range and in other words you can say you can tell it is an old car. Great one, but old. I always looked to buy a Tesla , but after I sat in it and got over the screen, the rest of the car is average. With the BMW the refinement, the comfort, the quality and the whole experience is on a different level. Shame there is no “frunk” but the rest of the car more than makes up for it. I love the function that it has where it remembers my workplace and the fact that I have to roll my window down when I get there and it now does it for me! The adaptive regeneration is amazing too. The only thing I am not so sure is the steering wheel shape, a nice conventional shaped wheel (three spoke) would’ve been much better, I suppose you cannot have it all.

@runedahl14772 жыл бұрын
I have owned an iX 40 for two months now and I am very happy with it. Should I nitpick on something it must be that the driving assistant don’t understand Norwegian. If you want to use the function you have to set the menus to English. Longer range and faster dc charging would have been nice. I am almost looking forward to the winter so that I can test it under north Norwegian condition. I think it will be perfect. Door handles are not of the kind that pops out electrically and the same goes for the charging hatch. Flushing of the forward and aft facing camera would be great agains the salt they use on the roads. The radiation heat in the front seats are great for those cold mornings. Feels like crawling into a warm bed in a cold house. Heating of the backseats are also great. I wonder why there are no nozzles to flush the headlamps. I also wonder if there will be a buildup of snow on the back hatch during driving in dense wet snow. All in all,this is the best car I have ever owned.

@@runedahl1477 Good to know! What is the average winter temperature there? I am in Toronto so curious if the climate is similar. Thanks!
@runedahl14777 ай бұрын
@@hendersonli6594 The normal winter temperatures here are between minus 5 and minus 2 centigrade in the winter but if I drive 30 minutes into the inland it is considerably colder. This is due to the Gulf Stream that passes off the coast of Norway. Occasionally it will drop below minus 10 degrees. Located inland I assume the winters in Toronto are a bit colder than here. One of the downsides to electric vehicles is that the range will be reduced during winter conditions. That has been a big problem for the electric busses in Oslo and in Skjeftelaa in Sweden. Also here in Bodø have they had problems during the worst winter days but that have been related to the back wheel drive on the jointed busses. They have a tendency to scissor and get stuck. If you have a iX 50 you get 100 kilometers extra range. The Norwegian automobile association conduct every year a test of the new models of electric cars. They start in Oslo and drive north until the cars stop. If I remember correctly the iX 50 did 503 kilometers before it stopped. Also Tesla and Mercedes have done well on these tests. As far as I know this test is the biggest in the world. The drivers are not professionals hired by the makers but journalists and others that are specially interested. The test is close to how ordinary drivers would drive. When they get into the mountain region and inland between Oslo and Trondheim the temperatures can drop below minus 30 degrees. The whole test is very realistic.

I've been following this channel for a long time (spring 2014 :O) and I have learned quite a bit about EV's in all those years (any juice is good juice! ;-P). But I was asked the following question and I'm really not sure what to answer, so for once I'm looking for some extra opinions among people who are EV specialists.. The question is: If you had to choose one of the following three cars, which one would you choose? and what is the decisive factor? - VW e-Golf (2019 - 29.000 KM) - Seat Mii (2021 - 2500 KM) - VW e-UP! (2021 - 20 KM) The goal: a relatively cheap and small commuter car for about 80 KMs roundtrip each day, two-thirds highway. Not too big because of parking in the city. Or would you choose something completely different? Thank you in advance for your perspective! :)
