The plot was whatever (kinda I kinda expected..), most of the characters were either very annoying and/or underutilized/forgettable with only the Rock saving it. His moments and fight scenes were amazing. It's nothing amazing but it's mostly fun and turning your brain off too which I mostly enjoy.

Black Adam in This one movie is basically like original Superman from comics. Not afraid to kill badguys, extremely blank, etc. And not really Black Adam really, no murdering kids or harming people that didn't do him or anyone else bad (or weren't involved in invasive PMC)

I always saw Black Adam similar to Doctor Doom. Like both are thought of as villains by the heroes and America but to the country they lead they are heroes. I don’t think you could have a Black Adam story set in Kondaq and make he look villainous. So I really enjoyed how he was seen as a villain by thought from outside the country. I also really enjoyed Atom Smasher and Cyclone moments together because (besides the uncle) they seemed like the most relatable characters in their personality.

Fun fact, this film was originally rated R and had to be edited to a PG-13. So we will possibly see an unrated (possibly extended too) version on Blu-Ray. Will be interesting to see what comes out with the BR release. On a side note, would love to hear your thoughts on Dwayne Johnson's 2014 Hercules film. Seen that one?

Awesome news. Spirit of OG DCEU is (mostly) back I see. Bad critics ratings, good ratings from the fans, superior and less censored extended edition. But really want this to be a hybrid of approaches, produced movies like these AND Director's films too llike Gunn's Squad, Snyder Cut and in the future Ayer Cut

I had fun with the movie. Also, I think Black Adam only cares about Kandaq. He doesn’t care about the rest of the world, they’re invaders to him. And as for the rest of the world, Black Adam is a threat, so I definitely can see him going up against Superman and Shazam. I also agree that his son being champion was kinda touching, but I prefer it if Adam was chosen because it keeps with the original Shazam.

I saw this movie with my friend last weekend and we enjoyed it, Pierce Brosnan was awesome as Dr Fate and his glassy looking magic was really cool, the beginning narration went on abit too long, I really disliked Atom smasher and his Deadpool looking mask but Cyclone was neat. Spoilers here The army of hell was really lame, like they were just skeleton dudes who didn't even get one kill, Sabbac's design was a super basic demon dude which was boring but I guess that was his comic design so they really couldn't change it. I'd give it a 7/10

I had fun with the movie, I thought it could've used a little more of the slower moments, but overall I enjoyed it. I'm not a particularly huge Black Adam fan, my strongest memory of him is still of his first appearance back in the 40s honestly, but I think he's cool. I also don't think the movie should've been darker, I think it worked as it was, and much more probably would've just turned into the angst fest of Zack Snyder stuff.

I honestly enjoyed Black Adam from start to finish. I enjoyed all of the members of the justice society, felt that they were all true heroes, and was glad that Black Adam didn't kill them. This movie actually made me feel sad for Doctor Fate's death, even though he was only in this one movie, which just shows how likable the character is in this film. Black Adam was also an enjoyable character. He filled his anti-hero role really well because Black Adam really isn't a hero. He's at best an anti-hero, and at worst a villain. Glad the movie went with the former, and am looking forward to Black Adam fighting Superman and/or Shazam. Hopefully Henry Cavill will actually be allowed to act like Superman in future movies like he did in the theatrical cut of justice league.

I am not Myth expert like You, but I quickly checked the gods that contained His Shazam and I don't think I found one that is for lightning in an actual mythology. To me I really liked how Shazam name really stands for all of his powers (and I also explain to myself flight as Atlas holding the sky = Archimedes law = the sky holds Atlas)

Weirdly, I didn't really like the Justice Society thing. Don't like Hawkman and find him to be kinda annoying, Fate feels like he didn't do much except at the end but still randomly takes off his helmet which kinda feels random/pointless (also doesn't the wearer get posses by Nabu and wouldn't let go of them if they put it on? Or was that only in Young Justice?) and feels very underutilized. Cyclone and Adam Smasher we're pointless but fun characters with good chemistry. The mom was also very annoying she was my least favorite of the whole movie and couldn't tell you one thing about the final big demon villain at the end lmao. The Rock was amazing and the only thing that did it for me. A low 6/10 for me (I still want to rewatch it to see if I was being too harsh on it since I wasn't well on the day I watch it so maybe that's why *hopefully*).

Totally agree, basically as long as Black Adam was involved the movie was very enjoyable be any time he wasn't in it the movie was just sort of meh. Spoilers ahead One HUGE plot hole is them explicitly saying Dr. Fate's helmet chooses who is allowed to touch it and bad things might happen to people that touch it that it doesn't want touching it... the big bad casually kicks it aside after Dr. Fate dies (for like no reason might I add, he death was dumb and the subsequent scene showing the stuff from his vision happen anyway even moreso since the entire reason he decided to sacrifice himself was he thought that would avert the fate of his friend, whatever moving on) only for nothing to happen to him not even like a momentary weakness or visions of his own death or anything like that... almost like the writes sort of forgot about that minor plot point they teased earlier on.

I actually like that film, but it seems like it is missing something. Maybe it was what you are saying, that black adam wasn't villainous enough, but now that I think of it, we see the story more from the perspective of his people, for who he is a hero, so maybe that is that (althou idk if it was intentional by the makers). Also I wanted a big fight against black adam at the end (maybe the justice society would team up with these evil military (whos would use that metal) to stop black adam and when they would won the heroes would see that it was wrong and help black adam escape). Instead we got again something like Batman Vs Superman, where everyone have to team up against cgi monster...Like common DC, how many times you will do the same thing again (wich never seems to work anyway), althou I think that they handled well the meaning of the quote on the crown, where they thought it was wrong, but the bigger picture show the true purpose if it and the revile was cool. To sum up I would give it 6/10, cool superhero movie with funny moments, but the ending is lacking and I don't think they use Black Adam to its full potential and soften him a bit to much.

I understand MCU heroes kinda made it a okay when characters (that don't kill in comics like Cap or Iron Man) kill people in droves and then quip about it, but still this is DC where even when heroes kill it is seen as something bad even if done for the good.

@@FirstnameLastname-my7bz Superheroes in DCEU have no problem in killing either. Did you forget DCEU Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman etc? Intergang is completely evil so killing them isn't enough to make him darker than other superheroes. Hawkman in the comics has no problem with killing (unlike his movie version) but you don't see him being considered as dark as the likes of comicbook Black Adam. Now if Black Adam in the movies had the same writing as his comicbook version then you could've made an argument that he earned that title.

@@romansionis2470 Batman never murdered anyone, killed only during combat and when he had to otherwise they will shoot and blow up his vehicle (if you notice he never actually starts shooting, only in response) and also because of timing and just for the fact that opponents were overwhelming (he kills in comics as well during same circumstances, The Cult, or In the Dark Places for example) . His only murdеr would be of Superman, unless he already did Joker in the past or some other villains. Wonder Woman killed badguys because she was moving as superspeed in order to prevent bomb from blowing up and also to neutralize all gunmen so that they won't shoot kids. She didn't even murder the last one, she gave him enough chances to back off and in the end only returned his own energy from all those bullets back at him. Aquaman only just knocked out Black Manta gang and left to die his dad. After he tried to kill him. Not murder. Black Adam starts murdering from the very beginning and then never stops even when he did not have to. Also because all these movies are created and written by different people. But still, not much of a stretch here. Not to mention the hypocrisy from absolutist stand point (ie heroes don't kill even though heroes sometimes do) isn't something that isn't an unheard concept in comics. There is comics where Batman uses gun and Robin call him on that , like in World's Finest #27, there is Superman in Joe Kelly run that is going against superheroes that kill , while at the same time killing Russian Zod and Imperiex (and Imperiex he killed literally saying before that "Superman doesn't kill" in Action Comics 781). It is like that. And still. NONE of DCEU kills before Black Adam were celebrated by character that wasn't a villain. And largely there always was a restraint shown by the character before the kill. Or there was context like one non bulletproof non superspeed guy in some armor against dozen people with rifles or against aliens with superhuman speed and ability to fly and laser weapons. Context.

As much as I loved this movie, I always imagined this was going to be a prequel movie since the Justice Society predates the Justice League and I would've much preferred that by having this movie focus more on Black Adam's more darker nature and how it comes to affect the Justice Society. For one, I would've had this movie be a prequel, predating Wonder Woman 1984 since the Justice Society predated the Justice League. I of course would have set up that A.R.G.U.S kept the Justice Society and supervillain activity a secret since the world isn't supposed to know about Meta-Humans till after Man of Steel. I also would have introduced a risk that would give Black Adam reason to want to go to war with America. I would've also cut Sabbac out and save him for a Shazam VS Black Adam movie. I would later set up that the Intergang is a group that existed since ancient times due to salvaging Apokoliptian technology after the invasion years ago that was established in Justice League. As for the Justice Society, I would've had it also be revealed that the original incarnation of the Justice Society of America drove Intergang out of America, making them responsible for Intergang going to Kahndaq in the first place. I would've made so Hawkman's black and white view on good and evil greatly affect the Justice Society by becoming unhealthy obsessed with bringing down Black Adam, even when the best thing might be to leave him alone. Doctor Fate would act as the voice of reason who in the end decides that leaving Black Adam alone might be what's best. Cyclone would be kind of the neutral member of the team who would become more concerned with the people of Kahndaq and how their mission against Black Adam would affect them. Atom Smasher would be the heart of the team, but he would begin to deteriorate in character as the Justice Society falls apart until he would decide to go off the deep and and wonder if maybe killing Black Adam might fix everything. I would later have it be revealed that Hawkman's strict self-righteous obsession with detaining villains is motivated by revealing Hawkgirl's death in a flashback, which would have happened during the battle against Intergang that would've driven them out of America. Black Adam discovering that America was the reason Intergang took over Kahndaq would lead him to increase his tension toward America, but the nail in the coffin would be his battle against the Justice Society causing the kid Amon to get caught in the crossfire and die as a result of Hawkman's insistence on containing Black Adam. This would lead into the final battle, but it would also involve a battle royal with Doctor Fate, Hawkman, and Black Adam engaging in a three-way battle while Atom Smasher and Cyclone have their own battle. By the end of the film, I would kill off Hawkman, to set him up coming back in the future since he can reincarnate, and kill off Cyclone as I would build up her and Atom Smasher's relationship only to have her sacrifice herself to give Atom Smasher a chance at future redemption. Doctor Fate would get wounded in the head causing him to go crazy and end up in a mental asylum until he is needed again in the future. In the end, the Justice Society is disbanded and broken and Black Adam would decide to rescind his declaration of war, not wanting hatred and pride to hurt the people of Kahndaq anymore. The post credit scene would show Doctor Fate looking into the deep future and see the Nightmare Timeline, setting the stage for Darkseid's eventual coming, but Fate is unable to leave the asylum as he is separated from his Helmet of Nabu. This is how I would've of done this movie, but that's not to say I'm any better than the writers of this movie. Even though it had its flaws, I do love Black Adam as is and I can't wait to see where he goes from here in the DC Cinematic Universe.

Two things were clear when me and my friend finished watching it, we'd enjoy it more if the kid wasn't there and if the final villain didn't look like a dollar store Archemond that you'd find in a 3rd world country chinese market.

if he starts killing off heroes, then we wouldn't be getting the similar impact if they do the world war 3 movie, which is arguably the biggest black adam story with the most emotional stakes for him.

Amanda Waller is more of an "end justifies the means" antihero than a villain, yeah she does horrible things and is a ruthless leader, but she does so to stop terrorists and protect national security

The rocks contract is there an amount of hits he can take he can never lose and he never looks to bad that actually in his contract so yea you know Superman that snaps black Adam jaw off because he was done playing because there actually not in the same league that ain't happening

Definitely a fine movie with a lot of problems. Black Adam killed plenty of people and Dr.fate did some cool magic. I got what I wanted from it.

Imo the beginning is WAY too exposiniony, the excessive amount of slow mo got pretty tiring Hawckman is way too 1 dimensional Cyclone and smasher are indeed pointless but I still enjoyed them Dr Fate was really good with the exception of how Nabu just doesn't talk or even get his existence agnoleged and dr fate himself is pretty nerfed The humans are basically cardboard cutouts of characters The villain is so god dayum bad I actually got mad at him Overall I very much enjoyed the movie

If you know ANYTHING about the Justice Society like I do, Than this film really pissed you off, EXAMPLE: in this film Atom Smasher is the grand nephew of the golden age Atom Smasher, there was no golden age Atom Smasher, Atom Smasher is the former side kick/ Godson of the golden age Atom, who was a midget with atomic strength, and why was the old AS than never existed before this film played by Fonzie from Happy Days, was getting a short person and putting them in old person makeup so hard??????

cyclone and atom smasher should have been taken out and cyclones actress should have been given the roll of jade scott, inheritor of the star heart,and recruited to take the place of the OG Green Lantern Alan Scott. you could have even kept the "its vintage" scene from atom smasher but with alan scott, or just have him in a coma if you want to keep the hayden family storyline. I liked cyclone's actress, Atom smasher felt cringey as fuck, although I think that comes more from how he was written, but noah centino felt like a YA tv b lister promoted to the big screen because the needed someone. Amanda Waller is an anti-villain, shes not a good guy, but shes not a criminal, just unethical. also, Pierce Brosman's Dr Fate seemed sad, I think his wife is dead and that would explain why he was SOOOO nerfed in this movie. They got hawkman right though, he shouldn't have been the leader though.

This movie... not great. I don't actually know the Black Adam character so just kinda thought he was a super-hero throughout. A bit rough Deadpool-style, but hero. The justice league folk confused me 'cause they seemed coded to be heroes, but everything in the movie said they were villains. They were literally protecting the terrorists who were killing and oppressing innocents. They jailed the guy that was defending the civilians for... reasons? Because he hurt the poor very-clearly-villain-minions? All the ordinary people were booing them and they were trying to gaslight them? And then.. I have no idea what discount-birdperson was doing talking to the politicians or what the point of that was. Just.. so didn't get it. The Rock just made the movie and was the only thing worth watching. Thinking back I can't really remember anything else about the plot.. there was a bad guy I'm pretty sure.. something about rescuing I kid I think? Honestly, not hamming, cannot remember.

Dr. Fate was awesome in this film, tho they really toned him down for the plot. Which is understandable I guess, just annoying. Stop making magic users be only glorified energy projectors or one off illusionists. Had the same problem with Dr. Strange 1 (which was still good)

I mean, 99% of the movie happens within Kandaq and you have to ASSume they don't really speak English, and maybe JSA don't as well. So no accent. And now the explanation why Mera has English accent in Knightmare : he was never interacting with not Arthur before. At least that's My headcanon. Okay.
