Yeah. In my engineering days I performed my due share of percussive maintenance but it was the exception and even at that it was always based on the available data.

Scotland has a long tradition of training excellent engineers. Henry Ford would only hire Scottish trained engineers pre-WW2. A large part of their curriculum was to engineer a machine, actually build it, prove it worked, and make repairs to the machine that the instructors deemed had broken or worn out during the run demonstration. If it took too much time and/or effort to make repairs or do maintenance, they failed.

Thanks for posting this interesting story! It was very good.😊 Accidents like this are all too often a tragedy. However, the invention and use of black boxes has saved lives going forward. I have watched many airline disaster documentaries. Black boxes have done a great job in solving what took down these planes. If Sherlock Holmes had been a real person, I think that he would have approved of them.✈️🎆🧰🕵🏻‍♂️
