Black Butler 2 was AWFUL! (Review)

For those who are new here, this is a remake of a video I made a long time ago discussing how awful Black Butler season 2 was! The original video got taken down due to copyright and rather than just reuploading it, I thought it would be better to remake it as I've improved so much in my writing.

The only thing I enjoyed about season 2 were the OVAs. They were pretty enjoyable and I’m so excited for season 4.

Well the camera arc and the train arc was cool almost like something you'd find in the manga, I said almost. With a few edits and changing a few plot points, It could be very early days stuff.

omg but why was the parody behind the scenes special actually funny??? 😭😭 like, Alois throwing the script and calling it absolute drivel made it almost seem self aware. Honestly, if they added aliens to black butler it would've saved season 2.

Lore wise I kind of liked it, cause I always assumed there would be other demons out there with their own agenda and victims/prey I just didn’t like how the villain of the story used their final wish which forced Ciel to be immortal

All season 2 did was make anime only watchers confused about the story after the fact. You have people thinking that Ciel is a demon during Book of Circus.

If we're talking about the most useless S2-only character, I definitely agree that it was Hannah, but if we're talking about the most useless character overall in S2, it would have to be poor Grell! I love her to bits, but dear god she was so nonexistent throughout the whole season and did not leave any sort of impact onto the story at all. Either way, thank you for making this video (again)! It was such a delight to watch/listen, since I recently finished that garbage a few weeks ago lol.

From what I remember of season 1, a soul can be cleansed to some degree since the angels tried to purge the darkness within Ciel using the grim reapers film- maybe his soul was affected to some extent to the point where it could be possible transferred

When can we get Alois his own part in the story?? 😭 i really got attached to him when i was younger and watched it for the first time. Even though I'm older now, i still wish he had more of a role than just being a kind-of foil to O!Ciel. If i could have any wish, it would be for Alois to have a spot in the manga. I don't even need him to hate o!Ciel. I just want him to have a little time as his own character without crappy writing and constantly having his entire character revolving around the protagonist I miss him, he deserved better writing 😢

Alois and Shiori have the same problems, they are shackled to Ciel. They both could have been great characters in their own right.

haha yup btw can you confirm something? Does real Ciel's sacrfice summoned Sebastian or was it Ciel's wish. Couse If that is the case that would mean real Ciel's soul was eaten by Sebastian

@@charko4191 Sebastian is summoned by the combination of those things - Real!Ciel's death and his soul as the sacrifice, and Our!Ciel's "wish" for revenge and his "blasphemy" - the very strong thoughts/feelings of despair and anger he is experiencing when his brother is killed. Oddly enough, the reason why Ciel makes the contract in the first place is that he (accidentally) sacrificed his brother's soul - just letting Sebastian go would make that a meaningless error and instead he decides to do something about it.

When I was younger I didn't get why people hated season 2 of Black Butler like why did it matter if it wasn't canon to the manga, a few years later and Season 2 of The Promised Neverland happens 😳.

It wont be, its adapting the manga so its going to be good UNLESS they do what season one did and only adapt a few episodes and make the rest up which i doubt will happen

@@Lisa-mu6kf They only did that in season 1 because the anime caught up with the manga, so there's no way they'd do it with season 4, since they don't have that excuse. The most they'll do is leave out or add in some small things like they did for the rest of the Book of adaptations.

I don't know if you've watched or read this before but can you do a review on "Trinity blood"? The manga is better than the anime as it's a bit rushed due to the writer passing away but its pretty underrated and could use some attention. Its about vampires, The vatican and krusnik. Heres the synopsis, "Set 900 years after an apocalyptic war between humans and vampires, the series focuses on the ongoing cold war between the Vatican, the human government, and the "New Human Empire", the government of the vampiric Methuselah. Fighting on the Vatican's side is Abel Nightroad, a Krusnik - a vampire that feeds on vampires."

With all that bad writing, I really enjoyed how, in the ending, every demon who thought they hit the jackpot by signing contracts with 9-10 year olds either got killed (Claude and Hannah) or is destined to eventually starve to death (Sebastian). That's exactly what you get for thinking you can bargain with and deceive literal traumatized children. I wish the manga would end in a similar fashion

I'm pretty sure he was supposed to be dead because his last words were like "Maybe I was just a butterfly's dream" or something like that which felt pretty final... It'd also be weird if he never showed up again despite being alive and nearly causing a second opium war 🤣

Oh my god! I knew you were talking about BB but oh my god! I didn't think you were talking about Season 2 again! But I'm so happy that you are because I fucking hate this season. There are so many issues. One of them is a certain new butler, his master, the maid...and..who are the other guys again!? XD Edit:I was definitely mixed on Alois when I first watched the season when I was in middle school. Nowadays and recently, I actually think he's entertaining and fucked up, but what happened to him was messed up and I really feel bad for him. Claude is a strange case for me. To me, he was just stale and stoic, which is the point, but man, every single time I saw him, I just missed Sebastian so much. I really wished he didn't start acting so fucking weird when he tasted Ciel's blood. After that, he just became so giddy and creepy. And I was just turned off. Then again, when I did write my horrible BB fanfictions, I always included him for a former close friend of mine because she loved him so much. I just wished he and Alois had more agency as characters and not foils to Ciel and Sebastian. As for Hannah, I just..despise her XD I think she's very pretty and kind of cool, but she's so sexualized, abused, and annoying that I just can't like her. She is literally the reason why the ending sucks so much.

I miss how sexy A-1 Pictures made him 😔 It's okay, I don't see sexy Sebastian yet in the art style so I guess it's all about just waiting until we see the new season fully animated to see if they'll pull off Sebastian's spicy panels in the school arc. xD

Yeah I completely agree with you except for loving Claude Fastus. I HATE HIM SO FUCKING MUCH!! I definitely wanted to see more of Alois's role as the queens spider. Also I kinda want Alois to be brought back in Season 4 as like a ghost or something. Just my personal opinions ❤❤❤

Season 4 of Black Butler is not connected to seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 and any other "book of" title is part of the reboot focusing on the manga. In season 4's case, Ciel is going to a prep school to find Queen Victoria's missing nephew. Yana actually drew Alois in the violet dorm when the arc was still being written at the time and it's very cute! A personal favorite of mine.
