Respectful quesiton for you sir: my understanding of this buddhism is that it is different from other forms, eg Zen or Pureland. Our desires are to be chanted FOR, not suppressed, correct? By chanting FOR OUR DESIRES it purifies them? Then we receive their correct form? For example, I am chanting for this woman to come to me and marry me. Is this correct? Thanks in advance.

This is a question that I know so much in my heart. The concept in Japanese is called "bonnō-soku-bodai" or earthly desires equals Enlightenment. In commons sense terms it is very, very difficult to "Chant" for chanting sake. The fortune of our Nichiren Buddhist practice is that our "Challenges are the reasons we chant." The best way to chant hours and hours is to get your heart broken or in your case you are chanting for a certain woman to come and marry you. This sound like the "Story of my life." In fact the most motivating things that made me chant was love and heartbreak. One thing for certain you will gain benefits unimaginable via your chanting for the woman you love and want to marry you. I have probably wrote a few lecture on the subject of Buddhism and love. In fact one of the Gods on the Gohonzon protects you and assist you with love. Good luck in your chanting and I pray that you find the woman and marry the woman you love so much.. If you worship Fake Honzon without "eye-opening ceremonies" That gonna make you , your family and viewers unhappy. This is not my opinion, this is what Nichiren Daisyonin is saying. 木絵二像開眼之事 Opening the Eyes of Wooden and Painted Images 1273 “Unless one who has grasped the essence of the Lotus Sutra conducts the eye-opening ceremony for a wooden or painted image, it will be as if a masterless house were to be occupied by a thief, or as if, upon death, a demon were to take possession of one’s body. When, in present-day Japan, eye-opening ceremonies for the Buddha images are conducted according to the True Word rite, demons occupy them and deprive people of their lives, for a demon is also known as a robber of life. Moreover, devils enter those images and deprive people of benefits; another name for a devil is a robber of benefit. Because the people worship demons, they will bring the country to ruin in their present lifetime, and because they revere devils, they will fall into the hell of incessant suffering in the next.” Why are you ignoring what Nichiren Daisyonin is saying?

Dear Tokyo Tower Thank you for your comments, however I find you comments unjust, racist and overreaching. You live in Japan and you speak Japanese. We in America are only a "Handful" of us who has "The Nichiren Gohonzon." We find it incredulous that you would reach out an preach to "A Few Black Buddhist who faithfully practice the Nichiren Teachings. I assume that you have not addressed your time an effort to the millions of Japanese meaning the SGI or Nichiren Shoshu. You should turn your attention to the millions of Japanese who do not ascribe to your ideas. In regards to the "eye opening ceremony" the Gosho teach that when you recite the Lotus Sutra to Wooden and painting images you are awakening the Buddha. Our Gohonzon are the copy of the "Nichiren Gohonzon." Are you saying that the copy of the Nichiren Gohonzon. Where is the "True Word Rite" in the Gosho? There is no demons associated with our Buddhist faith. The demons that is associated with our Buddhist faith is the "Racism that you Japanese Practice." You Tokyo Tower and Japanese practice a Buddhism that extricate all Black Buddhist history, culture and language from the Buddhist Teachings. What you do not teach in Japan is about "Japan's Black History. The 1st people of Japan were Black people. The Buddha was Black, the Shogun was Black and Nichiren was Black. I ask that you please address "Black Buddhist History in Japan." In fact there are "Black Gods on the Gohonzon." Please Address Black Buddhist History.

Did you read "Opening the Eyes of Wooden and Painted Images" in its entirety? Nichiren Daisyonin designates its executor as "one who has grasped the essence of the Lotus Sutra." Additionally, Nichiren Daisyonin says 「法華経を心法とさだめて三十一相の木絵の像に印すれば木絵二像の全体生身の仏なり」. A simple translation in English is… Using the method of reading the Lotus Sutra from the heart, he says that “印する (Certain special methods used in Buddhism)” is performed on Wooden and Painted Images, which have 31 characteristics. In other words, Nichiren Daisyonin does not teach a specific "eye opening ceremony" method except to certain people.
