Description: What if trillions of years in the future, in the midst of a dark, cold, slow and lonely heat death, the Universe still harbors civilizations that flourish around the last remaining sources of energy? And after those trillions of years, as the fabric of the Universe continues to expand faster than distant light can traverse it, and all those fleeting galaxies inevitably slip over the cosmological horizon, and all the local stars exhale their last explosive breath,, what celestial hearth is left for them to huddle around?… black holes.
Tonight, I want to explore the concept of using black holes as the last power source to feed a future species that may even be our remote descendents, how ever electronically hybridized they may be by then.
I was inspired to research this topic by the amazing science and futurism channels:

This is absolutely incredible. I don't cry all that often, but I balled my eyes out at the end of this because I felt like after you reminded us of a different perspective, you brought it back to us and the meaning of our lives in the most profound way. It's like the further you go and the more you learn about the universe, the more you learn about yourself. Ironic, but beautiful. I get the feeling that you ponder these things often, always searching, and it's like I get a glimpse of the universe within you. I look forward to the infinite topics that you'll explore here and I'm curious what you find....Keep it up Rich :)

Same feelings after the hurricane one! You make it less sad and scary which aligns very much with my peace with God. I love how you said, "bask in the astonishment of the sublime". Thanks for these nuggets of light. I also like how there's no pressure to learn while we learn together. I can just absorb stuff, look at pictures, zone out, or wake up to you tinkering with makeup sponges and paperclips trying to demonstrate electric currents lol (: x

By enclosing a spinning black hole with a spherical casing made of triangular mirror plates, it could cause the matter released from it to reflect back at it, building more and more energy while sustaining itself, therefore allowing the removal of plates from the enclosure, releasing the electromagnetic and thermal energy for us to harvest.

Hey dude, me again... Just to say, you enjoy reading science fiction at all? Well, if you do, I thoroughly recommend Arthur C. Clarke, especially the Rama saga. Beginning with Rendezvous With Rama... then obviously Rama II, Garden Of Rama, and Rama Revealed... I credit Rendezvous With Rama for getting me into science fiction as a genre. From there, there's Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Baxter (whose Time's Eye series is great, one book being a collaboration with Arthur C. Clarke - one of the last things Clarke ever had published before he died...
@LetsFindOut1
@LetsFindOut1 5 жыл бұрын
Rendezvous w rama was the first Clarke book i ever read. Fantastic story. Thanks for the recommendations nick
@nickthelick
@nickthelick 5 жыл бұрын
@@LetsFindOut1 Oh man, that's mad! "Rendezvous With Rama" was the first A.C.C. book that *I* ever read too! Swiftly followed by the rest in the series. I wish they'd pull their collective fingers out of their arseholes and get "Rendezvous With Rama" made into a big budget film (it remains in 'development hell' and has done for DECADES). I'm not sure, but I think that it's Morgan Freeman who holds the rights to make the film. I do know that it has passed through many famous actors and directors hands. That story has the potential to wipe the floor clean of all other Hollywood sci-fi films. Not sure who'd be perfect for the job though, now that Ridley Scott and James Cameron have totally lost the magic they once possessed. I think that perhaps maybe Rama in the style of Richard Linklater's "A Scanner Darkly" would work very well indeed. Oh! Definitely keep it away from the twats who butchered the Star Wars and Star Trek films! All of those were disappointing and thus depressing! They could have/should have been so much better! The first Star Trek reboot was OK though. But nothing to write home about. All Star Wars films from the 1999 onwards ("The Phantom Plotline" or "Merchandising Menace"!) I disregard! The ONLY Star Wars films that are worth their salt are the ones from 1977 - 1983... ANYWAY! Isaac Asimov, the "Foundation" series I enjoyed, though sometimes I found it quite daunting in places given how many books are in the series and how much thicker some of the books are too! The Foundation literally being the conservation of all human history and knowledge, and studying that data to predict the future of human civilization/s, pretty much! Deep stuff, for sure! Ray Bradbury, I LOVE The Illustrated Man, that's a bit different. I mean, animated tattoos will be the tattoos of the future! Other than that and a couple of other stories, I don't know much more about Bradbury. And Stephen Baxter, well, he's kind of the _new_ king of sci-fi nowadays. His "Manifold" trilogy were the first books of his that I read, and they got me addicted to his stories. I (BIG TIME!) thoroughly recommend "Time", "Space" and "Origin", in that order (obvious titles for his trilogy, really)! =oD And considering that he was the last person to work/collaborate with Arthur C. Clarke too... well, that kind of cemented Baxter's place in the sci-fi realm for me. I think they had similar ideas, ideals and outlooks on space. With A.C.C. being the 'old guard', if you will, and S.B. as the new explorer with his ideas from the more recent end of discoveries in space and technology (and the new theories and capabilities too. As such, some of his ideas are fairly 'out there')! LoL! =oD Oh! Also, for something a bit different, a mix of science fiction and fantasy - I enjoy Philip K. Dick. Obviously, "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep" aka "Blade Runner" is a good book/great film. Though personally, I TOTALLY RECOMMEND - "Time Out Of Joint"! THAT was the first P.K.D. book I read. And it is the easiest of his work to follow, in my opinion... sometimes some of his books are hard to follow/envisage. I think he's the sci-fi-fantasy author who's had the most books turned into films. Back in 2010 I saw the first edit of "VALIS" or "Radio Free Albemuth", the official 2014 release is very different to the one I saw, so I feel a little bit priviledged to have seen it. Anyway, that's about it for my KZbin comment (most of my comments become short essays in their own right, as you can see!)... Very last thing to mention: You obviously like AFX, Boards Of Canada and probably many other Warp Records artists? You might like Simian Mobile Disco too. Check out "Hustler" (there are two vids for it. The UK version and the US 'clean' version (which they made to be highly suggestive and ugly at the same time, similar to AFX really)! LoL! "SMD - "Hustler" : kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWGll2mPfMeWZ8U Well, I don't know if you know Plaid at all? I imagine you do considering you know AFX and BoC. Give this Plaid track a go, I fucking LOVE IT! I went on to check out their other stuff, and can recommend some more. Lucky enough to have seen them live too (as well as AFX, though not BoC, they're not easy to see playing live!). Anyhooo, this track is called "Itsu", it's got _quite a few_ alternative translations from Japanese to English! 'Itsu' - When, Lost, Peace, Hide, Beautiful, In Turn, Mistake... and maybe a few other meanings too probably! Phew! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHWnn6iQdrFsptU That's it! I'm finished! =oP

@@LetsFindOut1 Oh yeah, your vid is called Black Hole Civilizations right? Well, that author Stephen Baxter has a character in one of his books called Sheena5, who is a 'smart squid'. Who is sent on a mission into space to travel through these portals, and she (Sheena5 is a female) keeps going forwards in time to the point where humans have become so powerful that they are harvesting energy from the edges of black holes, as everything else in the universe has 'died' from Heat Death. ie the very atoms of everything from rocks, stars etc. have literally evaporated away... The hypothesised end of EVERYTHING IN THE UNIVERSE. Eschatology? I think it's called?

@@LetsFindOut1 Sorry for all the continuous comments! Yeah, you should grab hold of the book "Time" by Stephen Baxter... You'll love it. It's got the adventurous squid called Sheena #5 in it. Man, it's great, the squid have wars and everything! YOU'LL LOVE IT! It's really well done that book. And what I mentioned about eschatology in the other comment. The universe's heat death/atomic evaporation is called Proton Decay... The very literal end of everything (as I keep going on about!)... Lastly, the main, reoccuring character Reid Malenfant is based on Baxter himself, in that he's a failed astronaut, didn't make NASA's grade and is basically doing it himself (the character is a billionaire), money is no object and space exploration is the final frontier, so, screw NASA - Malenfant's doing it his way! He insists even his wife calls him by his surname, Malenfant! (Means Elephant!!!) Yup, you GOTTA buy that book dude if you're into science fiction as much as I think you might be?!

Don't take this the wrong way but that's a nonsense question. Even Stephen Hawking more or less said the same thing. The universe is expanding internally. It's a weird concept to wrap your head around but the universe isn't expanding into anything.

He also said it would like asking what's south of the south pole. Learn to read the whole comment before responding.
