Funny, I was just thinking of cooking lentils this week. Maybe curried lentils, but this would be perfect especially with this weather. Thanks chef!

We make a very similar soup like this at home, but instead of carrot and celery we use poblano chili, tomato and garlic, and sometimes dieced ham too! At the end, when it's already cooked, add a handfull of fresh cilantro (we are from México, we loooove cilantro of course!), one of our favorite dishes :9
@maremacd2 жыл бұрын
Do you make it with black lentils in Mexico? Or black beans? Do they taste the same?
@spanishcooking949310 жыл бұрын
mmm yummy! I agree, bacon works great with legumes. Although the spanish taste likes to add chorizo instead, I like the bacon idea so much

I had a "special problem" and the doctor basically said it's cause I'm getting old. Apparently, frequent salad and veggies are not enough anymore and I need to eat even more fiber or start drinking old people fiber powder concoctions. No thanks. So the first person I came to for help on this is Chef John and as predicted, he did not disappoint. Delicious recipe. And no old people powder needed. 😃

I just made this but with green lentils, cubed pancetta instead of bacon and a can of peeled tomatoes instead of the chicken broth, so basically i made something completely different, but i followed the same steps and same spices. I am writing this comment just to point out how great the soup was when i added the cubed avocado, especially because i think i added too much heat and the avocado creaminess canceled out that excess.

This soup looks delicious. Is there a difference between stock and broth?(I feel dumb asking) When it comes to vegetable stock I just cant get behind it. I love all veggies but veggie stock seems to highlight the bad, bitter, and bland flavors of certain Veggies.
