Black Ops 4 - Blackout | Is it worth your time?

The open beta for Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 4's Blackout mode ran over the course of this weekend, giving players a chance to try out this highly contentious battle royale content before the game's release.
I gotta say I was taken by surprise here because I am both tired of battle royale games and am also not the biggest fan of twitch shooters or Call of Duty at all, for that matter. The gameplay I found here wasnt the worst of both as I expected it would be, but is instead an interesting twist on established formulas.
I am particularly excited by the inclusion of the zombies that sporadically infect the map because it means Treyarch isnt afraid to do some serious experimenting on the battegrounds formula which is good for all of us. I am going to be giving Black Ops 4 much more attention as release draws near than I had initially intended to.

Man I legit hate battle royale games but love CoD zombies so wanted to try this out. I'm loving every second of it so far.

With perks as dead-silence and skulker it seems much more difficult to just sit still because people can easily sneak up on you and you have to move against snipers, also i dont think you kill people that quickly if they have lvl 3 armor.

Even with the those performance mods I noticed a ton of people sitting tight through a match, especially on some of the bigger twitch streams which is uncharacteristic of them in other games. The problem with tier 3 armor is that it is far too rare for the insane importance it holds. I think a good middle ground would be to give the tier 2 armor a helmet but less penetration resistance to the body, that way atleast you can mitigate a single bullet to the dome.

Its probably not going anywhere anytime soon but I think if it doesnt start to change in some way people are going to start siphoning off to other releases. Really glad you liked the videos man, thanks for continuing to watch them!

So basically i have already played this game by playing other titles.... Game modes: just like pubg and crapnight aka fortnight. They have added grapple and pulse blade from titan fall 2(which is a much more fun and faster shooter than any cod) And I'm sure the zombies will he a half hearted copy and paste just like every other zombies I have ever played with cod. Removing the single player (in my mind) is a terrible idea. Less content for the same money. I'm sure they will release a campaign later on for an additional $40 because people are dumb enough to pay for it. The ONLY positive about cod is how other players aren't bullet sponges like 99% of all other shooters. But the fanboys will be just that and cod will make a huge pile of money just like every other year for the same old copy and paste games.

Dont get me wrong, I am NOT a fan of CoD regardless of which of the devs it comes from, but I dont mind so much that they borrow features from other titles provided that they actually improve on them. For whats its worth I had a pretty good time with the beta, whether or not that interest remains intact over any real amount of time is still up for grabs. I also am on the other side of the argument about TTK, I think that both in Blackout and in their standard multiplayer the time it takes to drops someone 100-0 is far too quick, often boiling down to the first person to see the other gets the kill instead of having time to respond to incoming fire. I think there is a happy medium between enemies feeling like they are impossible to kill quickly and them being made out of paper. As for the zombies, I have very much been unimpressed by them for the last few games but this one seems like they are breaking from their own conventions a bit and trying to mix it up. If they can make that format more entertaining then I am all for it. I agree that developers should never be praised for giving less for the same amount of money, it remains to be seen whether or not they make up what they removed or if it leaves an empty hole where the single player once was. it not a $60 game ..you get block ops to play black ops not battle royale crap .. I'm not in to zombies.. and with no single player game the nothing in it for me so I'm passing on this one

Thats a really fair point and I think its one thats shared by an awful lot of fans. I remember when they announced that they were cutting single player out and the world collectively flipped their shit. I myself never played the campaigns aside from very casually every once and awhile, so it wasnt a big hit to me. I totally get why you'd give this one a pass. The battle royale mode IS fun though, whether or not its inclusion was justified it atleast is a good version of the format.
