played it in one sitting. got up feeling like i watched john wick, oceans 11, played 10 rounds on Kino, played resident evil, far cry, atomic heart and not all of it flowed together. It would've been a great campaign if only it knew the ending is where you're supposed to END and if the protagonist was voiced.

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole campaign, though I found the lab where you’re fighting zombies and stuff to be unnecessary for this title. It made a lot more sense in Cold War. Ive played pretty much every Remedy game. Control is absolutely amazing and comparing that to this game is heresy. Not saying if your finding similarities your wrong or anything just that Remedy is just on such another level of storytelling and gameplay that it hurts me to even put them in the same sentence. And that comes from someone who has played pretty much every cod campaign and enjoyed them. Except new mw3 that was just a money grab.

@ i mean, i’m not saying that they’re on par in terms of quality. ofc Remedy is infinitely better (although i think Control does have some flaws that keeps it from being my favorite Remedy game), but it’s very clear that in themes and environments, the Emergence mission in particular is very much like Control. it’s such a far cry from COD that it ends up being more like Control. possessed workers, keycards for clearance, the phone ringing, it even has a scientist that sounds much like the one in Control. even in Emergence, you’re looking for your test partner much like how Jesse is looking for her brother, except the genders are reversed.

In the last mission where, Troy mentions that he was 9 when his father returned from the Vietnam War (Troy was born in 1960 and therefore was 9 in 1969, and Joseph Bowman died in 1968, like you said in the video, you really have to play attention). If i wanted to play Zombies, there is an entirely dedicated mode for a reason. And there are many other ways to make a "dark/black operation" rather than hallucinations/brain-washing. Even in Black Ops franchise, I don't recall Black Ops 2 needs to do any hallucinations and it is one of the better story to tell. The story doesn’t answer this at all or pursue Menendez whatsoever. I get he isn’t caught until 2025 but they still could’ve done something involving Menendez or even hunting down Noriega again. Bo6 doesn’t continue the bo2 story, it takes some aspects and deviates from it, giving us a new story which isn’t bad at all, it’s ok, but the reason it’s hated is because it’s not the story we wanted and waited for all these years later

After just completing the campaign, I must say that I agree completely with this video. However, this trend of CoD campaigns not feeling like "CoD", hasn't just started now, it has been like this for years. CoD creators just no longer want to make military campaigns. For some reason, no studio wants to make a CoD campaign about regular soldiers on the frontlines of convential wars. Regardless of the studio or subseries, all CoD games nowadays are about a small group of superheroes who save the world single-handedly. Nothing bad, but it's a far cry from the first 4-5 CoD games.

to be honest though, even though MW19 had more villains, i feel like they were way weaker not just compared to BO6 but to many other COD campaigns. i actually remember this being a common criticism of the story. Hadir was by far the best. Barkov barely had any on-screen time. I feel like he was wasted. Al-Qatala’s violins were just plain weak though. the Wolf basically didn’t matter and the most the Butcher is known for is the torture scene and him shooting a kid that ran through smoke. Half of these villains will never be remembered in the vain of Menéndez, Hudson (to some extent), or even Shepherd who just appeared in one game. I think the villain in this campaign as a whole isn’t just Harrow, it’s the Pantheon too.

I think its pretty unanimous that for gameplay variety and what not, BO6 is up there as some of the best the COD franchise has seen. The two main issues with this game IMO is how everything within the story feels disjointed (as you stated) with it feeling like they thought of some cool ideas and then threw it all together with little care of how it would mesh together and with how it greatly departures from the tone and identity of not only the modern ish black ops games along with the cod franchise overall. The black ops franchise is known for grounding itself in real world history and then twisting it in interesting ways to create an engaging narrative that feels more gritty and real with it presenting a more grey morality. Bo1 highlighted the psychological impact that the war in Vietnam along with the shady actions of different government agencies had on the individual with Alex Mason. It presented characters from all sides as being more morally grey highlighting how sketching some of the stuff they were doing was. This is emphasised in the later games with BO2 and BOCW with bell and with MK ultra. For the modern-ish era of black ops games, they usually ground their antagonists with real life parallels (as fictious as they may be presented) with the soviets in bo1, soviets and drug cartels in bo2 (for its past stuff), and then Perseus but also the CIA (depending on what route you do). The games also usually tie their narratives to real life locations and events happening during their respective eras. While stuff regarding organized crime was happening in this era in the meddaterian region, BO6 fictionalizes the events, locations and the people involved (to my knowledge) which in a series that grounds itself in history feels off. They also try and make everyone in the main crew be the "good guys". Sev is literally an assassin for a crime family who has killed up to hundreds of people a good chunk being innocent yet that's brush off because she felt bad over someone she knew getting killed. Felix is literally the trope of the bad german guy who is good because he identifies what he did was bad so now he's gonna overcorrect for it. I get they were trying to do that 80s spy thriller thing of having characters from different backgrounds becoming a ragtag team but that paired with the cheezy cringey af dialogue makes everything feel so flat and one note with its overeliance on cliches. They had this interesting thing going where they were showing how sociopathic Adler is but last minute said nah While there were real events and moments in the gulf war that bo6 was tied to, they weren't used nearly as well compared to the previous bo games. There was a number of questionable aspects regarding this conflict with its motives along with certain events such as the highway of death incident that were completely neglected when this franchise is known to address these topics to some degree (they literally showed the highway of death in mw2019 though they changed the narrative from the us doing it to the russians). It's antagonist of pantheon, feels really generic and weak with it not being connected/inspired to any real-life groups. The idea of it being someone in the CIA works with the time period, they could of had it being some corrupt group in the CIA paid off by corperations to do the Gulf War for oil money. They literally show the eye of providence throughout the trailers and games, the antagonists could have been the Illuminati. This would have addressed real life issues with this conflict and would have been more interesting overall then just, the CIA has been bad, lets not make it bad by doing extremist stuff. I get that BO6 was trying to do a spy thriller deal but it departs too much from the war game identity set up by cod and disregards the identity and tone set up by the black ops franchise with its attention to deal to history and the grey morality of it during its respective time periods. Cold War is a great example of how to balance and integrate these spy thriller ideas while keeping it faithful to the war game identity that franchise has

Said it way better than I could. The fact that they emphasized a lot on the fact that it was taking place during the Gulf war and yet maybe only one mission I think had something that actually did with the war was just a waste. I saw someone comment on a different video that was from Kuwait and said that the game got banned in their county all because they had missions in the same area.

@imembridibuddha Ай бұрын
Perfect explanation. The main point of this is that you can really feel the absence of the original writer (or co-writer) in BO6, David Goyer, the one who worked on BO1, BO2 and BOCW. The only things that BO6 do better is level design and variety. Lore, ties to real-world events/conspiracies, ARGs, morally grey themes, there's none of this. The "mindfuck" element this time around is nothing more than a filler, as the Emergency mission could be removed from the game and the story wouldn't change one bit. The reveal trailers got me hyped because there was a lot of real-world footage, political themes and cryptic conspiracies. This is not what BO6 turned out to be.

So real. I just hate the way they throw away the idea of being a covert operations special forces operator, basically discarding the legacy of the BO series. Instead, you become a mentally unstable psychopath who hallucinates as if he's in a Bioshock game plus I haven't even seen or heard of case for one second during the entire game. Don’t get me wrong, some elements were fantastic and should be implemented in the upcoming BO games, such as the hideout base concept. Also, Marshall was genuinely a well-written character. But basically, Treyarch fucked it up really badly with this one by refusing to make a COD game altogether. It might be a great game but definitely not what I paid for.

I can appreciate their intention for a good story, but I think it’s too open for an ending. In Cold War, we saw the end of the Perseus green light plot and had only 2 questions: - who actually lived? (Answered pretty quickly that Adler lives) - what’s Perseus’s next move? (Answered with stitch) This campaign still has so many questions: - who actually survived the helicopter fight - who killed harrows parents - who actually got Hudson and mason killed? (More specific than just pantheon) - is mason actually dead? - how were the chemicals dealt with after livingstone evacuated the capitol - etc It’s just too broad for casuals who don’t follow post launch story, and I’m afraid people are gonna have another “well I want in that tank” Moment in the next black ops campaign

some of the Biggest Flaws in the story IMO was The Harrow Twist of Her Being a James Bond Level Super Villain with really No Big Motive just the "CIA Killed Her Parents" and then we're lead to believe in the Mk Ultra Mission She was Either Brainwashed or Just Bi-Polar. i also Think what was Heavily Relied on in Marketing that really didn't go anywhere was there wasn't any Lean ends to BO2. Nothing on Raul, Nothing on Mason, Not even the satisfaction getting the actual Mole behind Mason and Hudson's Deaths. Hell I expected Us to get a more somber Woods That's Still Grieving and struggling over what happened in Panama. though him talking about wanting to raise David was Great. i also want to point out that Marshall Does In Fact Mention his dad but just in one line of dialog, and that's during the Harrow "Separation" mission where she's seeing Vorkuta and Marshall Bring up That his "Oldman Came Back from Nam Broken" But again that's all we get...so basically nothing. but with all that being said i thought the campaign Was Great and really look forward for what they have Cooking up in the Future.

This campaign was so different and that is why I really enjoyed playing it. Gameplay and engagement wise it blows EVERY single other call of duty out of the water - every mission felt fresh, was easy to follow, and in some cases actually forced you to think and were complicated by COD standards which inadvertently helped you understand the story as you are forced to think. I also love the fact that you can genuinely approach missions in so many ways, not a like a silly open combat mission, but actually choosing between being discrete or going guns ablaze and I loved that. I thought it was gimmicky when they mentioned that initially in the campaign walk through but they genuinely translated that very well into the campaign - every play style is accommodated. This ultimately leads to a campaign that is far from monotonous like campaigns of old, most notably and comparably Black ops 2, which was written brilliantly but had a horridly monotonous play through experience. The characters all felt strong and well written and acted too and they added to the story very well in addition to all of that. The writing as a whole wasn't anything particularly mind-blowing - but generally so much better than recent campaigns. I really don't understand people getting frustrated at the lack of answers. They : 1. Need a story to continue throughout the seasons. 2. Have to maintain interest for the next game which will be closely linked to this one. And I think the game far makes up for this by the sheer amount of (what I think will become) very iconic missions: CIA black site mission, Casino mission, Biotechnology department mission and most notably the Jane Harrow backstory. The only CODs I can think of with more iconic mission are BO1 and the original MW2 of course. Am I frustrated that this story didn't really solve much of BO2, include Raul Menedez, talk more and reminisce in Vorkuta, tell us who the mole was or talk about Alex Mason: yes of course - but I understand they're moving away from that era of COD and hopefully they solve everything by next year, but it was admittedly quite disappointing narratively that a lot of answers weren't answered and it doesn't feel like past events in the timeline were acknowledged that much. I don't ever stick up for Activisions BS - but they deserve the flowers for this one. For once a COD campaign feels like a worthy game mode that isn't just written well but actually plays well and is engaging and non-monotonous. Well done trey arch.

To me, the campaign felt more like it was centered more around teaching you mechanics you would use in multiplayer more so then giving a worthy story with heart pumping action and eciting cinematics and set pieces. You had the yacht mission which was "stealth" but more like "this is how you take down players from behind." The open sand and palace mission was basically there to teach you how to use vehicles and score streaks. The zombie mission gave you a feel for how you would go about playing zombies online. The campaign was pretty much a big ass training session.

This game really is something we all finally deserved. I haven’t finished it yet but just finished the emergence mission. That mission was not at all expected and as a 32 year old man I have no problem admitting that on initial start it scared the living shit out of me

Yeah and I think the main reason a lot of people don’t get the story is because they skip all the cutscenes and then they have no idea how they got there or what they are doing which is sad

I could do without the zombie tripping nonsense and we never find out the true mastermind behind Cradle.
@rings2085
@rings2085 Ай бұрын
So you dont like innovation, is that it? The zombie tripping makes the Cradle dangerous. As Case we're not shooting anything. We're going insane running around chasing ghosts and keycards. Imagine that being dropped into DC. The 5000 ppl it would infect would see everyone around them as zombies and they'd all go crazy trying to defend themselves. With Nova 6 we had it's effect on our boi Petrenko. We saw what N6 did. We have Case and the recordings for the Cradle

@ Save zombies for the zombie mode I brought the game thinking that it would have a controversy about the Persian Gulf war and like WW2, Other BOps centered in Vietnam and Cold War would be about historical conflicts. I forget which one but it seemed like a rehash of one the futuristic BOPS I forget which one but it was one of the wall running super jump ones with the inception mind bending crap that wasn’t needed. So I disagree about it being innovative just the same old some old with a Halloween spooky theme addded to it. If you like it good for you but is sucked for me as far as my opinion just as you have an opinion. Persian Gulf war had plenty of stories that could have been told, Delta hunting down Hussein and all the jokers on the cards, Hooking up with the Kurds through BOPS, looking for the WMDs and so on. It seems like the first mission was going that way then it careened off into some Zombie nonsense. Why in the world would the US create a zombie weapon shut it down and not santize it with crazed people not actually zombie still running around underground in the lab. Because as you know mannequins cannot hurt you unless you hurt yourself but crazy people can. But crazy people would die out within a few days , plus his team hear all of the shootings going on, no monitors, no assistance, and just nonsense for me because the lab had been closed for TEN years. But I do enjoy the multiplayer very much.

When I played the beta, the game gave me James Bond vibes, especially with SCUD giving me a GoldenEye feel. And that's exactly what I got from the campaign. It was like a Blend of Old James Bond games mixed with CoD with a few wacky hallucination missions. It was great tbh. Makes me really want a new Singleplayer FPS bond game.

Definitely a fun campaign and definitely different than what we’re used to. However I feel like it lacked something. And majority of missions aren’t missions where I’d play again whereas the devs said different. To me it didn’t even feel like a cod campaign. At times it was way too stealthy which is surprising to me because I tend to like stealth but it felt like majority of missions were like this. Also the constant hallucination missions. Cool feature but certainly not everyone’s cup of tea.
