The end credit scene was a throwback to the first Black Panther film in that it returned us to a quote directly from King T'Chaka when he stated, " A father that has not prepared his children for his death has failed as a father." 😔
@AshLee92490

I absolutely loved when Nakia said that line because it showed how much he took his father's words to heart. Sometimes, parent die when you're young and you may not be able to understand it at the time what it means, but for T'Challa took make sure that he did the one thing he felt he needed to do as a father in the VERY short amount of time he had with his young child, as well as showing respect to his own father, his culture, and his own beliefs. Very beautiful...

"Vengeance has consumed us, we cannot let it consume our people." -- Shuri, Wakanda Forever "Vengeance has consumed you, it's consuming them, I'm done letting it consume me." --T'Challa, Captain America: Civil War. This movie was a really good tribute to the character and the amazing actor who brought him to life.

I remember some time after Chadwick's passing, Ryan Coogler opened up in an interview, reflecting on filming the 1st Black Panther. He was saying that some things seemed weird to him at the time of filming, but looking back on it, it makes sense now that he was battling cancer (he would seem incredibly sad some days, or had a hard time w/ some fight scenes, etc.). It's crazy to think that he kept it hidden from the public eye, especially in the modern day. RIP Chadwick Boseman.

That smile from Shuri at the end is so great. Just after she's accepted what's happened to T'Challa and releases that desire to destroy the world, to watch things burn, she gets him back. The way she shakes her head and laughs is like her realizing just how immortal her brother is. It feels right after this hard fought journey through grief.

I gotta think everyone on the cast and crew FELT that void left by Chad, so the justice they had to do this film in honor of his memory was also felt in jsut about every scene. Ryan Coogler did an amazing job, and this was, in my humble opinion just as good as the original, just as fun and every bit as poignant and impactful. I hope that if there is a third Black PAnther film - or even if there isn't one - that everyone is able to remember the impact that Chad will forever have on this character that touched everyone so deeply. Thanks for the reaction, Addy, but more importantly, thanks for FEELING and BEING human.

I think the introduction of Prince T'challa at the end was the best way to reintroduce Black Panther into the timeline. It's essentially their way to move on from Chadwick while still recognizing all his contributions. They pretty much just shifted the family tree a bit to make the timeline line up. So THIS might potentially be the T'challa that has the storyline with Ororo and the X-Men!

In addition to liking the obviously heartfelt tributes to Boseman and T'Challa, another thing I like is the Aztec spin they took with what in the comics is Atlantis. I think it really helped give Namor and his people a unique feel that I really appreciated. Overall I like the first Black Panther movie a bit better, that movie feels a bit more focused and, while I like Shuri, especially when she's in her forte of nerding out, I do think I liked Boseman better in the action sequences. The Dora Milaje do manage to hold their own in both movies, though, so I definitely enjoyed their fight scenes throughout. P.S. And also a shout out for the gorilla king M'Baku, I swear he kind of stole every scene he was in this movie!

A fantastic movie that really highlights the impact of the franchise and the gap Chadwick and T’challa have left behind. Namor’s introduction was really well done and unlike most other superheroes he isn’t concerned with making the world a good place he only cares for his kingdom and his people and as the move showed he’s willing to do for both. Ramona really had it tough lost her husband to a bombing. Lost her son to sickness and supposedly thinking Shuri was dead she had every right to do what he did to Okoye she said she’d protect Shuri and she failed it was simple as that. More than that she was not expected to rule she only married into royalty and did not expect the responsibility of Walanda to fall on her. Shuri also had the most development in a single movie we know she’s fun playful and a nonconformist to traditions but that was only because she believed her brother would be the true monarch of Wakanda she could do her own thing as the crown princess because she didn’t expect to inherit the throne. But losing her family that fell on her and rather than avoid it she stepped up and handled it gracefully even following her late brother’s example choosing not to avenge her family by killing Namor but by honoring her family and letting Namor live. Finally the reveal that T’challa had a secret son. Keeping the tradition of someone named T’challa will carry the Black Panther name one day was sweet. And a goos tribute to honor the character without outright replacing him.

Namor is Marvel equivalent to Aquaman of DC and was created 2 years before Aquaman. Like him, Namor is also the King of Atlantas but unlike the other, Namor was raised with his kingdom and grew distrust of humans and mutants alike. While the MCU version only has the vibradium staff as his weapon, in the comics he welds the Trident of Neptune that allows him to control the seas and has other magical powers like transfiguration.

Excellent reaction, Addie. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) is a great follow-up to the previous film. The opening funeral for T'Challa was heartbreak at its finest and there was a pindrop of silence during the Marvel Studios logo animation because of it being a tribute to Chadwick Boseman (RIP). The moment Shuri meets her nephew, Toussaint, before the credits rolled, was very heartwarming. Because of the emotional experiences that Shuri endures throughout the course of the movie, I personally believe that Marvel IS cinema.

"Vengeance has consumed us..." That particular line from Shuri to Namor and how it recalls an pivotal moment in Captain America: Civil War, it was such a powerful scene and beautiful callback. I agree, Addie. This was a different pace for Marvel, but also a very necessary one. This was the way forward for the cast, the director, the crew, and so so many of us who loved Chadwick through his portrayal of T'Challa and the many other iconic performances he gave. It's not an easy film to watch at all, and not likely one that fans want to revisit much due to it's heaviness, but it's a beautiful and touching memorial to a truly great individual.

If you notice, right before Namor shows up for the first time in Wakanda, the queen says "Shuri... there's something I need to tell you about your brother..." so it seems like Ramonda was going to tell Shuri about TChala's son. Maybe she thought it would help Shuri in the mourning process, or maybe it was part of her own.

Now think about this: Ramonda lost both her children in the snap, gets them back 5 years later, just to lose T'Challa again. So it's after the snap that Nakia leaves, which is also why Shuri doesn't know about Prince T'Challa, because she was also dust.

Addie, they changed the story of Namor for this movie, in the comic books he lived in the city of Atlantis, but the movie Aquaman in the DCEU had his family live in Atlantis, so i guess Kevin Feige didn't want there to be two Atlantis'es in the movies between DC and Marvel, so he changed Namor to be from a city of Mayan? naming, from South America, instead of North Africa, where Atlantis used to be

In the comics, T’Challa was put into a coma by Doctor Doom, and his sister, Shuri, became Queen, but they both were The Black Panther. Also, Namor and T’Challa LOATHED each other, and fought multiple times, but they were both in a secret group called The Illuminati with Doctor Strange, Professor X, Tony Stark, Reed Richards, and Black Bolt. It would’ve been interesting to see how things would’ve turned out story-wise if Chadwick Boseman hadn’t gotten cancer and was still alive.

Before anything else, Addie, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now on digital. Now onto a number of facts about the movie and a bit about the future of the MCU: In the original script, T’Challa’s son Toussaint would’ve had a more prominent role. Valentina also would have been a secondary antagonist. However, plans for Namor were pretty much the same. In fact, Namor is a member of the comics’ version of the Illuminati. They decided to not include him in the Illuminati that we met in the Multiverse of Madness as they had planned to put him in this movie instead. “Imperius Rex” stands for Empire King in Latin. It’s Namor’s signature catchphrase/battle cry and a warning to anyone who dares to oppose him. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like Nakia is as much to blame as Ramonda for sparking a war between Wakanda and Talokan. Granted she was following orders, but if she had listened to Shuri they might have avoided a misunderstanding. There were even two instances when Shuri didn’t want to talk to Nakia. Shuri was mad at her for not attending T’Challa’s funeral, and Nakia was calling her to explain why. Then at the lab Shuri sounded hostile towards Nakia. However, I personally disagree when Shuri said Ross owed them. They took him to Wakanda and healed him after he got shot in Busan. Then he returned the favor by helping them save their nation from Killmonger. I’d say they were even. Regarding W’Kabi’s absence, Daniel Kaluuya had a pretty packed schedule and with so much going on they weren’t sure where to put him. Director Ryan Coogler confirmed that W’Kabi is currently banished to the outskirts of Wakanda. In the Latin Spanish dub, Ramonda said he’s in prison. Despite not being in the film, there is some artwork of what W’Kabi would’ve worn if he had made it to the film. On a brighter note, I’m gonna miss Trevor Noah on the Daily Show but I’m glad he had more lines as Griot this time around. I’m personally glad this film wasn’t too funny, but Riri and M’Baku helped to bring some lightheartedness during this difficult time. M’Baku in particular had some major character development in my opinion. Before he took that massive blow from Namor, he wasn’t looking before leaping. Then after Ramonda died, he had a lot to consider. Those traits and experiences are what will help him become the proper king that Wakanda needs going forward. He also realized that it was time that he and his warriors upgraded their armor. They started wearing chest plates made out of vibranium. One particular thing that I like about this movie was that we got not one but TWO indigenous actresses from Guatemala. María Mercedes Coroy (Namor’s mom) and Doña María Telón (the elder Nakia spoke to) are both from Santa María de Jesús in the Sacatepéquez Deparment. My parents are from Quetzaltenango. The film’s score includes edited versions for some of the soundtrack’s songs, but they didn’t add the film’s version of Alone by Burna Boy which includes an excerpt of Stormzy’s Interlude at the start of the song. In the soundtrack, both songs are separate. Senegalese musician Baaba Maal who provided vocals for some of the background music in Black Panther 1 and 2 also made a cameo singing at T’Challa’s funeral. That reminds me: there’s a three-part documentary series called Voices Rising on Disney Plus. We get to see how the score and the soundtrack for this film were put together. Josué Maychi, the actor who portrayed the shaman in the Zamá flashback, was also brought in as a dialect coach for the cast. He taught them Yucatec Mayan. Stunt coordinator Chris Denison was the swimming instructor for the cast. He taught them how to free dive. Out of the entire cast, Mabel Cadena, the actress who portrayed Namora, was able to hold her breath the longest with a record of six minutes and thirty seconds. Chris believes that she would’ve gotten to ten minutes if he had another week to coach her. If Mabel returns to portray Namora in the future, that can still likely happen. Tenoch Huerta got to reprise his role as Namor for the Latin Spanish dub. With this film and the Guardians’ Holiday Special, we close out phase four. Welcome to phase five. Riri may not have been allowed to take her suit, but that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of both of them. Her superhero codename is Ironheart. That’s also the name of her upcoming show set to drop on Disney Plus presumably spring of next year. Her actress Dominique Thorne originally auditioned for the role of Shuri in Black Panther 2018. She even did a screen test with Chadwick. So when they wanted to incorporate Riri into the film, Dominique was their first and only choice. Furthermore, around the time they were wrapping up Wakanda Forever and before Dominque started working on her Ironheart series, she got a FaceTime call from Robert Downey Jr himself. He gave her his firm belief that Riri should be able to shine on her own terms and not be a direct copy of Iron Man. And finally, Valentina will return in The Thunderbolts. Due to the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strike, it may have to get postponed from July 2024 to the holiday season.

When I went to go watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on opening day at the cinema I was not prepared for the emotion this movie had. I have not cried so much in my life that when the movie was over, I needed time to process what I just watched because I have never had a movie feel as close to me as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The best and most impactful moments from the movie (for me) was the beginning of the movie when we witnessed T'Challa die offscreen, The whole scene of Queen Ramonda firing Okoye and the ending of the movie where Shuri finally does the ritual that her mother tried to do with her on the one-year anniversary of T'Challas death earlier in the movie but also the part at the end where 'Lift Me Up' by Rihanna starts playing, I completely lost it and the whole time the song was playing I was crying the whole way through! I was soo upset when Angela Bassett (who played Queen Ramonda in the movie) didn't win the Oscar for 'Best Supporting Actress' that she deserved! Nothing against Jamie Lee Curtis who won the Oscar for her performance in 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' she gave a brilliant performance , it was the fact that literally everyone who had interviewed Angela Bassett after receiving her Oscar nomination day to her face that this was her moment and she is going to win to which it made me more confident than ever that she would finally get her Oscar she so well deserved! Considering the fact that it had been like 30 years since her last Oscar nomination made it feel like she was long overdue for an Oscar! Thank god Angela is finally getting an Oscar as a 'honorary Oscar' the academy gives out to actors for there contributions to the Academy and films in general . As for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, this is my favorite MCU movie and also one of my favorite movies of all time period! This is just such a perfect movie and I'm so glad they were able to make this movie because this such a perfect send off to a legend that gave it his all to create such a beloved character that will be remembered for years to come!🙅‍♂️

In the comic books the "Fish People" would be Atlanteans. Namor is a mutant half human half Atlantean hybrid. His mutation would be the ankle wings and his pink skin. The Atlanteans are blue in skin pigment. They made changes to this origin most likely due to DC getting out the Aquaman movie out first. Ironically Namor was created first back in WW I I. Aquaman's creation was in the 60s.

I agree that Chadwicks presence is missed, I do think that the movie is SLIGHTLY propped up by the emotion of his passing. I agree there was some pacing issues and such, I'm glad though that Disney gave us all an opportunity to sort of... get to have our own participation in his memorial in a way?

Extraordinary and touching film. A great tribute to Chadwick Boseman. Loosely translated from Latin, "Imperius Rex!" stands for "Empire King," but it's a stark warning to anyone who dares to go against Namor's will in the Marvel Universe. Namor is an Anti-Hero. Namor is often depicted as a villain in the Marvel comics. Namor was created by Bill Everett in Marvel Comics #1 in 1939 as an Anti-Hero who deeply resented the surface world for polluting the ocean world in which he lived. The music in this movie is impressive. Angela Bassett to act in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is outstanding. In the comics, Namor was also the first mutant introduced in 1939 but wasn't called a mutant until after the X-Men were introduced in 1963. I have been a fan of Namor since 1990. I've been a fan of Black Panther since 1995.

In the comics the naming of Namor was simply Roman spelled backwards, which ties into the Imperious Rex that he would say. I found the new explanation of Child without love worked in this film.

Marvel Studios just released a trailer for season 2 of "I Am Groot". Yep, more Baby Groot on the way, so you're not fully caught up just yet. Not to mention you still have "Quantumania", "Secret Invasion", and "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3" left (you need tissues for that movie, because it is hella emotional). "The Marvels" is coming in November, and "Across the Spider-Verse" just came out on Digital, so you still have that, too, and "Deadpool 3" is being released earlier in 2024 instead of later in the year, meaning all their other upcoming projects have been delayed. Anyway, this film started out really emotional with T'Challa's death (we miss you, Chadwick), and the end with his son? UGH!!! And I also didn't expect Killmonger to be in this movie! I imagine Michael B. Jordan kept quiet about his appearance until the movie was released, but holy crap, his appearance surprised me! And don't worry about Ironheart. We haven't seen the last of her. She's got her own show on the way. P. S. SCAM BOTS, STAY AWAY!!!

This was a movie I decided I just simply had to watch on the big screen while I had the chance. The special effects were light years ahead of the first Panther movie, especially the underwater scenes. They handled the passing of T'Challa (coinciding with Chadwick's passing in real life) so beautifully and with such good taste. My only complaint was that somewhere in the theater there were people chopping onions.

Addie, i thought Shuri should have seen her mother at the end, she was her closest family member, and she just had died and she didn't get to process her death yet, so i think she should have been thinking about her mother at the very end, not her brother, who had died like two years ago? by the end of the movie

Sure. It’s a valid point. But the reality is that this film was a love letter to Chadwick Boseman, and Shuri’s journey was meant to help his fans and (more importantly) his loved ones find some grace and peace with his passing. She sees him in that scene because the ceremony is for him, and because the filmmakers wanted us to remember him with some joy in our hearts. In terms of the story, Shuri doubtlessly has her moments when she thinks of her mother, too. But we see _this_ moment because it is the choice the storytellers made. IMO, it was the right choice.

@@cpac97 I think it's typically considered Apocalypse, but comics in the last couple of decades have changed that. There's also the Phoenix from the stone age who was a mutant. There are also non-human mutants going back at least a billion years, but that presumably doesn't count.

Wanted to love this movie but found it to be an overall disjointed effort with two unfinished stories crammed clumsily into one. Really miss Chadwick as he was just phenomenal, and I don’t envy the efforts the creatives likely had to do to try and make this work. I find myself wishing that Marvel and Disney had instead had the courage to turn this into a study in grief, allowing the characters to fully experience and grow through the process (especially since they have such amazing actors who can express such emotions). It was the parts involving remembering T’Challa and the characters exploring what his absence means that I found to be the most compelling aspects of the movie. They could have just cut out most of the Namor based plot, and given Shuri the chance to grow more organically into the role of the Black Panther.

Shuri's character transformation was bad in this movie..... it feels different than from her first appearance in the first movie, once she got the herb going she seemed more angry and more vengeful than before. may be the herb is acting like the Supersoldier Serum and enhances the users traits, which would make sense as i believe the Serum uses the herb as an ingredient (could be wrong), but yeah... as much as i like Shuri in BP1, i as much disliked her here. would have done the final fight different as well with a different sequal setup as well. I would have had Shuri offer the Herb to the leaders of the different Wakandan tribes, like M'baku, to have multiple black panthers and try to unite the tribes against future common enemies. which would have setup a "powerstruggle inside Wakanda" sequal as well. but what the hell do I know?
