I know you achieved a higher score on civics than most of our current students would with being taught with the unionized, liberal public school systems and curriculums. I watched a show on TV a couple years ago that interviewed and followed multiple folks who were about to take their citizen oaths asking them, "Why? What's so good about America?" Those folks' answers were so humbling. Just as an example, one lady responded that the simple fact that "traffic stops in both directions when a school bus starts flashing the red lights to let her child cross the road safely, was unbelievable". The pride and happiness that was evident on every single one of those migrant's faces with their right hand raised and repeating the oath brought tears to my eyes. THAT is why we are called the "Cradle of Democracy". Not letting anyone willy nilly cross our borders and without knowing who they are, where they're from and what their intentions are. It’s crazy to me how beholden some people are to their party. Over time everything changes, including the party. In high school government one of the first things we learned was that the parties are always changing views and identities. Fifty years ago your view might’ve been labeled conservative, today it is labeled liberal and vice versa. Lincoln was a Republican in his time but personally today I would label him as a Democrat. His views were labeled conservative, but looking back we would probably call him a progressive. People forget that labels change meaning over time.

I'm a retail worker. A few years ago we had a shooting in our store. A customer asked me just a few days ago if seeing customers "open carry" makes me nervous. I said, "Absolutely not." He then asked if we get them a lot and I answered, "OH YES. And I LOVES them!" He laughed and asked me about the shooting and about the people who were "injured" by the shooter. I told him, "The way I see it is that a bad man had a gun that he used to hurt some people and a good man with a gun took him the hell out before he could hurt a whole lot more." Then he asked me how I knew he would've hurt more people - didn't he run out of ammo? So I told him how I KNOW, "The shooter was finally taken down when he was reloading. He most definitely wasn't done and he would've hurt a whole lot more people." The man thanked me for answering his questions and I hope he realized that it's ALWAYS about the person with the gun and their intent. NOT the gun.

This is sooo true! I work in a doctors office. Noticed one of my senior patients had a gun in a holster. I told him I am going to pretend like I didn't see it. I live in conceal and carry state. We started talking about guns, he told me how he went skeet shooting for the first time, I was telling him how I was out with my friends shooting in the desert the prior weekend. I did not feel unsafe at anytime. I also didn't tell anyone else at work he had it. The worst case scenario is they would have had him put it in his car. I would rather it stay on his person quite frankly.

That's exactly right. The Republicans pushed the Civil Rights Act, Democrats opposed it. LBJ realized that black votes could be used, and the Democrats started in with welfare and entitlements to destroy black families and communities and make them dependent. Then they made up this story about the Republicans and Democrats "flipping", so that the Republicans that were ALWAYS the natural home of black Americans, and that most blacks voted for since Lincoln and the Civil War when the GOP began, suddenly became racist, and the Good Ol Boy Democrats cut the KKK lose and became anti-racist. That never happened, they just found ways to exploit blacks for votes.

The biggest wealthiest donors are nearly all Dems. Something like 80% of the biggest donors donate to the left. You look at the elite they are almost all liberals. Maybe its higher than 80%. I remember seeing a list of the top 20 donors and I think 18 of them were leftists and I don't think there was a right leaning donor in the top 10 even. I know some of the richest ones on there did donate to both parties but if they gave any to republicans it was small amounts and it was mostly for local elections not national.

Proud Black Republican here. No person is a political robot. However, I had this same process in my life in my early to mid 20s. 25 years later, I still lean right. At the time, I consider myself right of center. There is so much fluidity today. Both parties have moved more of towards their bases and there is a great gap between the political parties. While I still vote candidate by candidate, I find myself repulsed by much of what the Liberals and Progressives are doing, especially when it comes to our culture. Watching parts of the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony was sickening, i.e. drag queens imitating the Last Supper. Our society would never allow such disrespect of other faiths, i.e. Judaism or Muslims. I find myself aligning more and more with Republicans on most issues, particularly when I think about my family and children.

Also, medications are not covered by their national healthcare. It's up to you to buy insurance for that or pay for it. Drugs are cheaper outside of the US, but that's because the US developed 90% of the drugs and we pay for the development costs by higher prices.

One of the ways I have always viewed the Democrat v Rebuplican debate is to think of the respective parties as parents. To me, the Democrats are the parents who give their kids everything they ask for, don't exercise any form of meaningful discipline, and want their kids to live at home for the rest of their lives. Republicans, on the other hand, are the parents willing to say "no" to their child, encourage their kids to work for some goal or reward, firmly discipline their kids when warranted, and generally raise their kids to be independent and to have productive adult lives of their own. The question is: which parent would you want to have (or to be)?

In 1992, my high school government teacher had us do a mock presidential election with party A and party B. I was in Northern California at the time. I was on the platform committee, and the VP nominee, for party B, so for lack of any other ideas I wrote out the republican party platform. All of the students that were pro Clinton realized they were actually Republicans when voting on the issues. I was literally only 1 of 6 conservative students in my graduating class, at least up until that day.

I checked all the boxes and that is why I’m a Republican. Also my dad starting voting Republican when he became his own boss. He never graduated high school. But he was smart. He started his own construction business had 7 kids with my mom, built his own home, bought properties and he knew that the Democrats just taxed him too much. So he started voting Republican so he could still thrive as a business owner, and support his wife and family. Also he never had health insurance but we got by. I can see why we only went to the dentist or doctor when it was only urgent. But we all survived.

I doubt that they're abolishing the voter's rights act of 1965 because they want to discriminate. I think they're doing that because they don't want illegal immigrants to be able to vote. There's also no federal law that says you need a voter's ID to vote. Therefore, any illegal immigrant or someone without an ID can vote as many times as they'd like. The democrats are banking on this, I believe. Overall, I think it's stupid to discriminate based on race but illegal immigrants shouldn't be able to vote without citizenship or an ID.
