I saw this lineup in 1982 at Cobo Arena in Detroit. Mob Rules Tour. Geezer's bottom end is just amazing. This needs heard through headphones or through good speakers. He doesn't get the recognition his playing deserves.

Sorry mate, not even close. Dio's vocal range is as limited as his lyrics. He is clueless on the Ozzy songs; over emotive, hoaky, frankly absurd, interpretations of songs that don't need fixing. Ozzy is no great singer either, but at least he understands how his vocal line fits into the music - check out bootleg versions of songs before Geezer has the lyrics down - Ozzy has already nailed most of the vocal melody, even without the words. Yeah, Fabienlamour - Halford is great. Still great. I'd add Ian Gillan to the "greatest" list; he is the probably the best pure singer in the hard/heavy rock realm. Dio is in the Minor League compared to these guys, and I love Sabbath and Rainbow...

Well I’m maybe a tad older than you and I loved Sabbaths early albums with Ozzy but you are 100% right, when Heaven & Hell was released I was blown away and Sabbaths New Years Eve gig at Hammersmith Odeon was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.

I can see that in 1979. I was 13 & just coming out of my KISS thing.

I was a teenager when this came out too. My crowd was well into Sabbath already. We were pretty mixed on Heaven and Hell. Then when Blizzard of Ozz came out a few months later we were even less impressed by the new Sabbath - how was it that Ozzy took a step forward while Iommi was treading water? Hands down we all thought Mob Rules was dreadful, from the songs to the playing to the production to the cover. Vinnie sucks, and is probably the worst drummer on a major rock record this side of Peter Criss. The live Sabbath album with Dio album is amazingly awful. And I saw the first two Sabbath/Dio tours - awful shows all around, from the performance to the sound to the lights...
